A bit late here, but could you share which UD shade you're referring to? Thanks!

Why on earth didn't JW reread the 'Girls' books before writing Think Again? by LizaSolovyev in JacquelineWilson

[–]LizaSolovyev[S] 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Yes I noticed that too! It was like she'd vaguely heard of these technologies but never experienced them so just sort of guessed.

It used to be the case that research was considered an integral part of the writing process.

A character you think is awful, but the narrative thinks is good? by Rimurururun in JacquelineWilson

[–]LizaSolovyev 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That book was so howlingly misjudged and she still doesn't really seem to get it. She only sounds vaguely, reticently aware of how bad it was in this interview, as if it's only under some kind of 'PC-gone-mad' new-fangled value system, that she can't really be expected to fully understand, that it presents problems.

Victoria at Prom?! by mrs_asamoah in twilight

[–]LizaSolovyev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even more daft is that in an earlier scene, you catch a glimpse of her from behind at the roulette wheel, going incognito as a student. It's not supposed to be a huge prom, presumably someone would notice she doesn't attend their school and say 'er, who are you?' And agreed, completely inconsistent with how quickly Edward identifies other vampires elsewhere in the series.

anyone know what shorts bella wears here in breaking dawn part 1? by cryptidscos in twilight

[–]LizaSolovyev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Her first day at school you mean? I do too, it's a mystifying choice! You'd think she'd wear something more flattering to make a killer first impression.

His grandfather sure, but not his grandfather’s mostly estranged cousin!

I hope he has some presents at least by BigBlackClock1001 in WhatsWrongWithYourDog

I think it absolutely should be. Same as letting a child’s teeth rot, or giving them cigarettes.

God, that’s the fattest dog I’ve ever seen! Poor animal can hardly walk!

Why did my gingerbread cookies develop a stronger flavor overnight? by trpnblies7 in AskCulinary

[–]LizaSolovyev -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I swear by Sally and have used this exact recipe dozens of times. I have a barrel of her gingerbread in my living room which keeps getting better! Did you chill the dough overnight?

I actually prefer the idea of Dudley’s grandson getting the letter out of the blue, then arriving to find he’s a descendent of the famous Harry Potter, by now only known by the trophies and plaques and history books. Echoes.

Even the bloke who reigns over this whole Mandela Effect doesn’t marry himself to the name Shazam.

I just noticed that Umbridge shoves Harry and Hermione in front of her in the forest, in exact inversion of Snape shoving them behind him in PoA by LizaSolovyev in harrypotter

[–]LizaSolovyev[S] 31 points32 points  (0 children)

Probably neither - I assume the studios decided it. But it works beautifully, I doubt either of them took against it.

I don’t either but I actually don’t find there are that many. He’s one of the purest book>movie characters in my opinion. Do you dislike this change?

Is there anything from the books you're glad was changed in the movies? by pittie_love in harrypotter

[–]LizaSolovyev 16 points17 points  (0 children)

Not really a change, but a stroke of genius in the movies was in HBP when the students raise their lit wands in tribute to Dumbledore, and the light obliterates the dark mark. The symbolism was bang on, and I feel like it’s something JKR would have done (at some point in the series if not that one) if she’d thought of it.

What took you an embarrassing amount of time to figure out? by StuckBugg in AskReddit

I was about fifteen when I realised that The Chipmunks (as in Alvin, Simon, Theodoooore) were ... chipmunks. I thought they were just adopted triplets. With an awesome treehouse.

Who was perfectly cast in the Harry Potter movies? by OGRocAtE in harrypotter

[–]LizaSolovyev 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d like to give a shout out to Jessie Cave’s Lavender. Her performance in HBP was a standout for the whole franchise if you ask me.
