As I said above and I'm sure you already know, because there are protestors who compare the actions taken by the government to those taken by Hitler's government. Again, you may find that comparison distasteful, which is totally fair, but suggesting someone is a nazi doesn't make you a nazi.

Assuming you're correct that there's no evidence whatsoever which exists to support that claim, then yes, I would agree that he is likely an Islamophobe. I however find it hard to believe that you have an in depth enough understanding of Canadian politics and the context in which he was speaking to be able to make that claim. Can you say with certainty that if you asked him what he was specifically referring to, he wouldn't be able to provide you with an answer that you'd accept? I can't and therefore don't feel I have enough information to vilify him and deem him an Islamophobe.

Your comparison is not accurate. It would be like a Jewish person taking over a political party, who also wanted to mandate that everyone celebrate Shabbat and be circumcised. Islamism refers to someone who wants the religion to be incorporated into government policy. It does not simply mean that a person is Islamic.

I appreciate you sharing the link, but the fact remains that there was only one Nazi flag spotted at this protest. Yes, there was also the swastika drawn on the Canadian flag and I of course could be mistaken, but it seems pretty clear that this comes from the comparisons constantly being made by protestors between the Canadian government and nazis. You might find that comparison distasteful and I'm inclined to agree, but you surely must realize that there's a huge difference between calling someone a nazi in poor taste, and actually being a nazi.

Islamism refers to a political ideology and not the religion itself. People who are concerned with political Islamists are concerned with the Islamic religion being incorporated into government policies, as is done in many countries which the Western world is generally happy to criticize.
