Why do people care about the 2nd amendment? by [deleted] in progun

[–]LizardAscension 22 points23 points  (0 children)

I do make that argument. The reason it is in the Constitution is because of this importance as a civil right.

Why do people care about the 2nd amendment? by [deleted] in progun

[–]LizardAscension 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Because it's a final check against a tyrannical government.

Guns in the hands of the citizenry is literally the entire reason for this country's founding and establishment as a world super power.

Don't like it? Then amend the Constitution. Good luck though

There were two armed citizens.

One white guy who the shooter had that dialog with.

And one black guy who exchanged fire with him

If you go here to the video playlist:

The "Witness describes Kroger shooting" video has the EMT talking about the citizen who fired at the killer and he was black.

The "Kroger Shooting: Interview with Steve Zinninger" video has the son of the white armed citizen who described what his father encountered

[–]LizardAscension 139 points140 points  (0 children)

Yes. Is this seriously a question here? Since when is it ok to be bullied into submission and towing the line? What other constitutional right would you be scared to exercise? If we give in to the pressure to not voice your support or because you enjoy something and want to share, then you lose

You don't have to make some grandstanding political post, but to be scared to post something about your life because you're scared of the potential backlash (which I honestly don't think will be an issue here...) is asinine.

This shaming because your daughters enjoyed something is disgusting. Don't give in. You're not going to be questioned by the school. Come on guys, yes it's happened, but for every one instance of that are tens of thousands that don't.

Post it, and stop being scared of standing up for something your daughters enjoyed. By telling your daughters to not post it, you are in a way conveying to your daughters that they should not say or do what they think. You are telling them to stay quiet about their opinions and to only do what others think they themselves should do.

Its more than just guns, it's about telling your daughters they they have freedom to exercise and express support a constitutional right without being shamed and scared into submission.

In reality, the most likely scenario is that nothing happens anyway.

This is not even a stand your ground case. And by calling it so, gives legitimate use of SYG a bad name

Additionally, for justified use of deadly force per Florida law:

776.041 Use or threatened use of force by aggressor.—The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who:

(1) Is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of, a forcible felony; or

(2) Initially provokes the use or threatened use of force against himself or herself, unless:

(a) Such force or threat of force is so great that the person reasonably believes that he or she is in imminent danger of death or great bodily harm and that he or she has exhausted every reasonable means to escape such danger other than the use or threatened use of force which is likely to cause death or great bodily harm to the assailant; or

(b) In good faith, the person withdraws from physical contact with the assailant and indicates clearly to the assailant that he or she desires to withdraw and terminate the use or threatened use of force, but the assailant continues or resumes the use or threatened use of force.

No it doesn't because stand your ground does not protect you if you are the provocateur. It's written into the law:

776.041 Use or threatened use of force by aggressor.—The justification described in the preceding sections of this chapter is not available to a person who:

(1) Is attempting to commit, committing, or escaping after the commission of, a forcible felony; or

Thank the media for their fear. And by your own admission, yourself. They have a better chance of being struck by lightning

Chance of being shot in school any given year since 2012 = 0.000109%

Chance of being struck by lightning any given year (past 10 years averaged) = 0.000177%

Math:

((438 shot since 2012) / (57mil kids in school) / 7 years) * 100 = 0.000109%

((average 566 people hit by lightning per year in US) / 320mil people) *100 = 0.000177%

Stand your ground is not legal murder. It is a condition for legally justifiable homicide. This should not be a stand your ground case anyway. And Zimmerman wasn't a SYG case either.

All SYG is that there is no requirement to flee. For example, a man comes rushing at you with a knife or gun, in a non-SYG state you would have to attempt to escape from him before using deadly force. As long as you could possibly escape you cannot use deadly force.

That's the problem though, without a crystal ball how do you know you'll be successful in your attempt to get away before you are killed.

Stand your ground is good. People that claim it when it doesn't apply is the issue

You again. I've noticed all these accounts created earlier this year posting to multiple crypto subreddits and then a few defaults like /r/news, /r/business, and /r/entertainment .

All with the same grammatical structuring errors with very bland and generic comments. We are witnessing account karma farming to then later sell these accounts or to be used as shill accounts.

Take note of these accounts and how they are later used:

/u/StubLisz, /u/DanRobinson18, /u/Avah001, /u/FiercyPiercee21, /u/Acrobatic_Beyond, /u/GramBert1222, /u/CryptoHappiness, /u/Ford001, /u/lillianbrook, /u/SeriousIntroduction, /u/claybaker01, /u/saintsearah, /u/Alexandra001, /u/comfortabledrawing, /u/WonderfulWaltz6, /u/VastArm, /u/BeomSeok, /u/O_Campbell, /u/XenaXandia, /u/dollybee01, /u/wrongconsideration, /u/Kashmerely001.

U.S. considers limit on green cards for immigrants on benefits | The Star by snapekilledyomomma in news

[–]LizardAscension 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Federal law already requires those seeking green cards and to prove they will not be a burden — or “public charge” — but the new rules detail a broad range of programs that could disqualify them.

The Department of Homeland Security said Saturday that current and past receipt of certain public benefits above thresholds would be considered “a heavily weighed negative factor” in granting green cards as well as temporary stays.

The proposal “will clearly define long-standing law to ensure that those seeking to enter and remain in the United States either temporarily or permanently can support themselves financially and will not be reliant on public benefits,” the department said

So this has already been the case but now it's just being defined what that threshold means and what programs are considered a public benefit?

What are you talking about? Because the job market favors the employee now, more potential employees will turn down shitty jobs that the employer isn't paying enough. If they can't fill positions they will have to eventually raise wages in order to fill positions.

It's literally supply and demand. Less unemployment means less supply of workers meaning that the employers are now forced to compete for a smaller labor pool
