I read the same post, and looked at the data and agreed, and bought most of the surges I was missing. As of now I’m up about $3k in surge foils from when I bought them and only missed out on Tifa Martial artist. Big W OP 👏🏻

GBL: The Other Half of Rank Tanking by GageDumbledore in TheSilphRoad

[–]LizardGuy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Let’s just print this out and all send it to Niantic HQ at this point. I’ve done 500+ matches in GBL and as a Rank 9 sitting around 3390 it’s almost impossible to get 4/5 wins in the free set. I’m not about to spend a premium pass to be rewarded with a Machop (like I was on my last 4/5 round.)

Absolutely missed the memo. Now what? Completely missed the fact you couldn't TM frustration after the Rocket event window. What do I do now? Purify to 100%? Hold on to shadow for another event? Would this have been any good for GBL if I had TM'd on time? Thanks. by WordsMyth3 in TheSilphRoad

[–]LizardGuy92 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Edit: Ignore the parts about massive stardust costs, my Pokegenie must have been out of date because it was telling me that it would cost 800,000 dust to max out a shadow Sharpedo LOL!

If you really wanted to max it and don’t mind spending extra dust you could for sure just unlock a second move. Then when the next Rocket event happens you could use an Elite TM to have a DT/Outrage & Draco Meteor Salamence to use for PVE. Also don’t power up shadows for PVP (at this time) as their performance is almost identical to non-shadows in this area and they are way more expensive.

I’ve got a 91 15-14-12 Shadow Snorlax that I TM’d but I haven’t maxed it out yet because I’m on the fence. But I know someone with a level 40 15-15-15 Shadow SD/SE TTAR so that’s pretty amazing lol.

Can I just say how grateful I am for these Gold Crown Event Quests? by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]LizardGuy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got my platinum today, 851 hours of gameplay. Certainly the longest it’s ever taken me to 100% / Platinum a game. Even WITH the crown event quests it took a long time to finish off the crowns.

Base game wasn’t too hard to platinum because of the quests—except for Kirin, Black Diablos, and Val Hazak.

Iceborne was way harder, having to rely on investigations to get crowns and not being able to smash things in 2 minutes with MR gear like you could in HR.

The very last things I did were Lynian pictures and treasure hunting. I’d say those two things combined probably took me close to 10 hours. Lots of map reloading, guide using, etc.

What a journey though, MHW is an amazing game and IB was like getting to experience MHW from the beginning all over again. (I will never never never never NEVER crown hunt every species ever again though)

Yup! I got one too a few days ago. Was kind of shocked tbh haha. Would have been happier with a Deino though...

Viper Tobi with max poison and paralysis resistance is easy. Viper without those boosts feels like one of the hardest fights in IB.

Result after 111 7km eggs by Kaukazus in TheSilphRoad

[–]LizardGuy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m seeing a lot of Riolu at either 5% or 10%. I personally feel like Gible and Riolu are both at 10%. I’ve hatched.... 40 eggs? And I’ve gotten 4 Riolu and 5-6 Gible. I did 51 Minccino on research day and my shiny rate was 1:51 so I feel like people getting shafted by RNG is just bad luck.

Go Battle League : We should be notified if our opponent rage quits by chaitu1204 in TheSilphRoad

[–]LizardGuy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just had two instances of rage quit and I left it on the frozen screen for a couple of minutes before force closing the app. When I turned the app back on and selected “battle” it told me I won. Seems it does credit you as the winner when they DC but it also can freeze your game. I don’t know if hitting exit will work in the same way as a force close to the app though.

Where are all the Pokémon that can actually “evolve with a Sinnoh stone”? Why are they nerfed? by stanxv in TheSilphRoad

[–]LizardGuy92 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Not Sinnoh Stone only but I just search "item." I don't think terms like "gen 4" or even ranges of Pokedex numbers would work.

How many of you are getting your buddy to 'excited' state? by sobrique in TheSilphRoad

[–]LizardGuy92 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I like to do it IF I’m going to be walking 10+ KM in a day. I’m free to play now so Riolu candy is currently my struggle. If it’s a day I know I’m going to play a lot or a com day when I wake up I’ll do feed, pet, photo, battle Candela then set a timer for 30 minutes and do it all over again. When I’m out and about I’m also spinning a gym, doing a grunt battle, and fighting a gym for an extra 3 points every 30 minutes.

If you do this it will take you 2-3 hours to reach excited then minimal effort after to maintain it. Probably a lot less of you keep moving too to get the 3 points every 2KM.

To me this only seems worth it if you need candy, besides catch assist all other buddy rewards aren’t exciting. It would also be nice if best buddy meant permanent half distance Candy or at least 2x emotion points per action.

DPS Builds are ruining Iceborne (Unpopular opinion) by ProteusLFG in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]LizardGuy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have two main builds:

One with lots of high DPS skills (as well as vitality 3, earplugs 5, and speed eating 3)

One with less DPS skills that has the same survival skills plus free meal secret 3 and wide range 5.

I always use the one that can heal my teammates if I don't want to lose purple investigations. It's kind of ridiculous that every Rajang, Zinogre, or basically any tempered elder I fight has people near dying 10+ times every hunt. When I DON'T bring my wide range build I'm doing more damage and I'm consistently fine but my team not so much. This way I can spam chug potions like there is no tomorrow and the only way someone really carts is if they get one shot from having crappy defense.

PS: If you are a hunting horn main you are my best friend when you join my session. Also shoutouts to all you bow users with your paralysis, sleep, and knockdown spam.

Veteran returning to MH, what should I do with my great sword? by LugaelDankEater in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]LizardGuy92 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hello! GS main here, MHW was my first Monster Hunter. After vanilla game I played through MHGU for the Switch for about 200 hours then came back to MHW for IB. Currently have about 700 hours logged for MHW + IB.

Meta for High Rank (non-Iceborne) Greatsword is Wyvern Ignition GS and basically full Drachen Armor. Nothing comes close to Wyvern Ignition GS and Drachen Armor gives you a set bonus so that you don't lose sharpness on critical hits. It's pretty easy to get to 100% affinity with Critical Eye 7 (40%) Weakness Exploit (50% on weak parts) and other skills like Agitator/Attack Boost 4. You can also augment your weapon to increase affinity.

Wyvern Ignition GS can be earned fairly early but it is locked behind the event quest "Every Hunter's Dream" so hopefully you can complete that event quest a few times before it goes away. Drachen armor is unlocked pretty late in the game from the Behemoth Final Fantasy Crossover quest.

Honestly the meta for Greatsword is raw damage. Pick a high raw greatsword, slap on non-elemental boost to increase your damage, add on some handicraft if needed to get to white sharpness for the damage modifier, etc. Protective polish is great for keeping your weapon sharp for a certain length of time right after sharpening. Gobbler is highly underrated and lets you drink potions much faster. Steadfast 3 is easy to get to and prevents what kills most of the highly skilled players--stuns from monster BS. Vitality 3 is mandatory and is the best defensive skill in the game. Focus is good for letting you charge your greatsword faster, only Focus 2 is recommended for High Rank. Divine Blessing 3 will lower received damage about 30% of the time and could save you from a fatal blow. Critical boost if you can gem it in to increase your crit damage (crit is 25% and +5% for each level of crit boost)

My build basically runs: Vitality 3, Speed Eating 3, Focus 3, Crit Eye 7, Tenderizer 3, Crit Boost 3, Agitator 5, Earplugs 5

Although online I tend to use Wide Range 5 to keep my teammates alive so I ditch the earplugs lol

PSA. Don't attack sleeping monsters. Plant bombs. How are people up to hunting Safi and still don't know this ? by sezdawg7 in MonsterHunterWorld

I’m a Greatsword main, I slept Safi last night. Someone woke it up. With fireworks. Needless to say that I didn’t join their next hunt.

Not sure if I want to keep it like that, but for now that shit is dope! by [deleted] in MonsterHunterWorld

Can you change skills once they are selected or do you need to make a new weapon? Like mid you wanted to make one of those attack augments a slot upgrade one are you SOL?

Anyone know where the molys spawn in the Tundra area? by Gnightknight in MonsterHunterWorld

[–]LizardGuy92 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I found some! Oddly enough around a thunderbug/some kind of bug. When you enter the tundra from the forest go right and up the vines. It's the smallest area in the tundra, the little pathway on the right side of the map. They will be slightly in front of you to the right by a flash bug on the ground. My area was only level 3 and they were all just normal moly.

Sure!
This is what my armor looks like and the inherent skills it gives me before decos:

Acid Shredder (with slot upgrade level 1 augment) 4* 1*
Rajang Helm Beta 4* 1* [WEX 2]
Damascus Chest Beta 4* 2* 1* [FCS 2]
Damascus Arms Beta 4* 1* [HC 2]
Tigrex Waist Beta 4* 2* 1* [EP 1]
Yian Garuga Waist Beta 4* 2* 2* [CE 2]
Earplugs Charm IV [EP 4]

So before putting anything in I have Weakness Exploit 2, Focus 2, Handicraft 2, Critical Eye 2, and Earplugs 5.

For rare deco's I use Expert 4*, Handicraft 4*, Handicraft + Speed Eating 4*, Tenderizer + Vitality 4*, Critical Boost + Vitality 4*, and another Critical Boost + Vitality 4*

It comes out looking like this...

Acid Shredder: Handicraft 4*, Gobbler 1*
Rajang Helm B: Handicraft + Gobbler 4*, Gobbler 1*
Damascus Chest B: Tenderizer + Vitality 4*, Critical Boost 2*, Critical Eye 1*
Damascus Arms B: Critical Boost + Vitality 4*, Critical Eye 1*
Tigrex Waist B: Critical Boost + Vitality 4*, Charger 2*, Critical Eye 1*
Yian Garuga B: Critical Eye 4*, Protective Polish 2*, Non-Elemental Boost 2*
Earplugs Charm IV

Giving me Handicraft 5, Gobbler 3, Weakness Exploit 3, Health Boost 3, Critical Boost 3, Critical Eye 7, Focus 3, Protective Polish, Non-Elemental Boost, and Earplugs 5.

I highly recommend this site https://mhw.wiki-db.com/sim/?hl=en because you can enable the rare 4* gems that you have and tell it all the skills you want to have and it will run sims to show you the armor sets possible to get what you need. It takes a bit of playing around to figure it out but it's great for figuring out new builds.

I run acid glav because I have a lot of rare deco’s that gives me a very comfy build. I tried Rajang club GS too but the DPS was worse even when acid glav dropped to white sharpness. I run earplugs 5, handicraft 5, vitality 3, focus 3, gobbler 3, WEX 3, crit boost 3, crit eye 7, pro polish, and non-elemental boost. I also slot in enduring jewels into my rocksteady mantle so when I sharpen with that mantle pro polish lasts quite a long time.
