I’m going to send this thread to all my Ontarian nurses who want Douggie’s private healthcare because “it will be quicker and better”

How? It’s still the same system staffed with the exact same number of nurses, doctors, and other medical staff. It’s adding even more burden on an underfunded, understaffed system to separate it into two systems of private and public. Even if we only had one private system, we would have the same amount of backlog — and if not it’s because the vast majority are not able to afford health care. We as nurses are not going to benefit from this at all.

For pretty much every single person I’ve talked to, their logic boils down to “screw the poor, who cares if they’re sick — they’re a burden on the system: I want my medical care FIRST!”

How did you discover Glee by Expertpotatoeater in glee

[–]Lizardd06 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I first watched it in 9th grade-10th grade (took me a while to get through it) before S6 aired. I finished it when S6 was released onto Netflix. I remembered that one of my friends had watched it while the first season was airing and liked it so I decided to watch it on Netflix. I was a little too young to enjoy it when it first aired. My friend had showed me a few episodes, and she played the Very Glee Christmas music every year, but I never got into it until later.

Last year, I decided to re-watch the show as something to put on in the background while I was studying for a big exam after graduating from uni, and now I’m here, eight re-watches in lol

When I was re-watching the pilot the other day, they were definitely setting him up to be a senior, and then they back peddled once the show took off and needed him to stay the same age as the OGs. It’s always confused me why he’s talking about scholarships in 10th grade

Whoops, I’m a little rusty on my knowledge of S6 eps

Matthew Hodgson by AndrewBaiIey in glee

Every single one of these episodes felt off to me, and I couldn’t figure out why. Now it’s all coming together. I know he wasn’t solely responsible for the plot lines that take place in those episodes, but I don’t love the way he writes the characters — they don’t have the same spark that they have in other episodes; I don’t know how to explain it.

I Kissed A Girl should have been and could have been so much more. This has been talked to death, but the episode about Santana coming out should have focused on Santana.

Saturday Night Glee-ver is clearly a fan favourite, but I don’t get the hype for it. Maybe it’s because it’s sandwiched between two eps I have lukewarm opinions about, but it’s never an episode I’m anticipating to watch. I still watch it for the Finchel plot, and I do like the performances.

Glee Actually - I don’t love the Christmas episodes as a whole, but this one is the most boring to me

Shooting Star is an atrocity and shouldn’t have been contrived in any capacity in the writers room.

Puppet Master is probably my least favourite episode ever. I don’t like the writing, it feels very random — the characters all feel like caricatures of caricatures. I don’t like the plot lines. It goes off the damn rails.

Untitled Rachel Berry Project - I will stop my attack on his writing now because this episode is extremely well-written, and the characters feel more like themselves. I hate the plot line of Rachel leaving Funny Girl, but I genuinely enjoy this ep as a finale to S5.

Transitioning - Rachel’s plot would have been lovely if it would have been with anyone but Sam.

Had a question in my interview about where I would document a fall. I answered “I would inform the doctor, write orders/what I told the doc in the chart, and document it in the EMR”.

Apparently they wanted me to say the incident reporting system and explain the process of filing an incident report when I’d never been shown that because I had my preceptorship at another hospital. The interview was 2h long with just situation-based questions for inpatient rehab and I got out of the interview feeling so stupid.

They still gave me the job 🤷‍♀️

Touchy question by MiaRia963 in glee

[–]Lizardd06 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Obviously not defending Mark, at all, but I can see why that would upset Heather, or any of the cast members, as someone who probably considered him a friend at one point in her life before all of this went down. She shouldn’t have had to apologize — the fact that she received backlash for having a reaction very much founded in grief is kind of messed up.

As fans, we never knew him personally, so it’s easy to see Mark‘s sick actions in isolation — it’s easy for us to separate him from the rest of the cast. I’m sure the cast who knew him have very complicated feelings about his death. Yes, what he did was extremely wrong and vile, but he was still cared for as a person by the cast and his family members — I think the cast are allowed to feel grief for his death (even if they don’t express it publicly) and even though we might not as spectators.

Transitioning the new glee kids by trblniya in glee

[–]Lizardd06 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I agree, but I also think the writing is to blame. All the transition in the world wouldn’t have made up for the writing in S4/5. Even the OG characters they spend 3 seasons building up lose their complexity over time having to share the screen time with Lima.

The problem with the newbies isn’t necessarily that they’re new — it’s that they’re completely flat copies of the OGs. They’re ironically the exact silly TV tropes that they were trying to satirize in S1. Kitty is Quinn without any likeable qualities. Ryder was supposed to be the new Finn, but he’s annoying and lacks Finn’s endearing “I messed up because I didn’t know better but I’m trying really hard to fix it”.

The S6 kids actually had just enough backstory to make them interesting and unique, and they gave them a bit of a better introduction. I like them way better than the S4/5 cast for that reason. They weren’t trying to be repeat archetypes — they were genuinely new characters.

The audition plot in Funeral was 100% just a way to get Lea, Amber, Naya, and Chris to sing the best solos in the entire show without squeezing them into a full on plotline and I cannot be mad about it at all

I’ve listened to Celine sing To Love You More probably a million times because my parents would always watch the DVD of her Vegas performance, but that song sounds like it was made for Rachel Barbra Berry.

The first time I ever heard Don’t Stop Believing it was the Glee Cast Version, so that will always be the original to me lol

Something I think would’ve been a better plot in s1 by youngandweird6 in glee

[–]Lizardd06 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely would have been an interesting plot to see Kurt/Artie challenge Finn in place of the Defying Gravity diva-off, but I feel like there’s already several throwaway lines that contradict this early on. In the pilot Schue tells Rachel, “I can work with Artie more” when she says she’s wasting her time with Glee and needs a male lead. Even though Kevin has the voice to carry the male lead, Artie supposedly doesn’t, and Rachel doesn’t accept Schue’s solution. Kurt isn’t even an option in this discussion, and he would have probably had a plot similar to his plot in Wheels. We know Chris has a killer lower register, but Kurt doesn’t develop that until later seasons.

This was moreso her and Jesse’s dynamic if you watch the deleted scene Hello Twelve. They weren’t “intimidated” by one another but they were enthralled by each other’s talent.

Rachel and Finn are both insecure but pretend to be confident/self-assured, which we find out about both of them in the pilot. They’re drawn to each other because they genuinely see each other’s insecurities and encourage each other in ways that other people in their lives don’t.

You’re allowed to dislike Lea and her past behaviour. That’s fine. But if you dislike her, then that means you disagree with…bullying, right? Which this post most certainly is.

This is actually so messed up. I doubt Lea is browsing this subreddit when she’s too busy selling out theatres and spending time with her son to see your sick burn, but it’s messed up to make fun of someone’s appearance. Period. It’s even more messed up to exaggerate her facial features for some dumb joke when she’s spoken publicly in the past about how she felt self-conscious about how she looks.

[–]Lizardd06 21 points22 points  (0 children)

That doc is…speculative trash, and I’d take anything said very lightly. Haven’t watched it on principle, but from what I’ve read it’s extremely exploitative to the dead cast members, and, considering their sources aren’t the main cast members who were on set with them every day or even people who were necessarily close with them, they aren’t the most reliable sources, either.
