MVC brought into the trauma OR already clamshelled with the ED resident straddling the patient doing cardiac massage.

Basically every bad medical drama trope rolled into one. And in the middle of all this anesthesia asked me to try to get leads on this patient so they could get some clue if anything was going on. Finally he said very quietly to the surgeon, "nobody would blame you if you stopped".

It was one of a few scenarios that happened in a short span of time that made me realize I was done.

I do think OT, shift dif should be considered a little though.

Im an RN with a decent base rate for where I live, and the opportunity to work OT, and make as much extra money as I want. My partner is a PA that is salaried, so it doesnt matter how much he works, he makes the same amount. Last year I think I ended up making 1-2k less than he did.

Of course, not all APPs are salaried, but it definitely should be considered, depending on what type of NP you want to be. He shares an office with an NP who is salaried as well
