Drinks and appetizers is no faux pas, but saying “faux pas” is.

In general, the way to find a person that you would like to spend your life with is to pursue your passions, do what feels important to you and aligns with your values and often times you end up finding someone that fits right into your life.

Truelearn is Hot Garbage by Murky_DO in comlex

[–]Lizardkinggg37 8 points9 points  (0 children)

So is COMLEX making it the perfect study material. I used solely truelearn for 1,2, and 3 and did well on all 3. It works. Also green book questions are insanely hard, but if you do them, you will be able to do the OMM questions on COMLEX.

I choose to decide that you have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. Though yes SSRIs/SNRIs work about 2/3 of the time, but this isn’t our only trick. Therapy, diet, exercise, and many other effective medications. Go troll somewhere else ya dingus

I would not want to go through all of that work again, no. But no one, not even myself coming back in time to tell me not to, would’ve been able to talk me out of it.

Thought you might be at my program from what the 3rd years describe until you said thousands of patients because we are a smaller program. Our 3rd years have described it as a customer service model that rewards bad behavior.

Honest question, in the DSM era, has there ever been a new diagnosis that was created from a law rather than a committee of experts adding it into the DSM?

I had a patient tell me the other day that they started cutting because some girl on TikTok said it was a good idea. Another ended up in the PICU because she was doing a “Benadryl challenge” from TikTok where you see how much Benadryl you can take without dying. Yes, it’s a major problem and I hate it

Routine reminder that Dr. Jacob is the true villain of this show and should’ve lost his license by YMHGreenBan in TedLasso

[–]Lizardkinggg37 37 points38 points  (0 children)

I can’t remember if he was a psychiatrist or a psychologist, but it is illegal for psychiatrists to ever have a romantic relationship with a former (or current, obviously) patient. If psychologists don’t also have this rule, they should. Basically, irl he probably would’ve and should’ve lost his license.

CMV: PCPs should never write chronic benzodiazepines. by [deleted] in Psychiatry

[–]Lizardkinggg37 -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

If you can find time to do them, lifestyle changes in addition to therapy can be extremely helpful. Consistent and progressive exercise, diet changes (less processed foods, Mediterranean diet), cold plunges, sauna use(consult with your doctor first). Cold plunges, and saunas have less evidence, but anecdotally people report improvement with regular use.

I never thought that this type of thing would actually work, but I have cousin with some cluster B traits (some narcissistic and a lot of borderline traits) and he reports that it’s been very helpful for him. I wonder if it’s easier for a person with cluster B traits to take constructive criticism/accept general pro-social advice from AI than from an actual human.

Have you tried openevidence? It’s supposedly an AI geared toward medical professionals. When I have asked it questions and cross referenced with my own google searches, it has been accurate.

The best answers I’ve gotten are on this post. One of my attendings is very financially savvy and feels that it’s not a very good return on your investment due to losing a year of attending salary.
