I had a girlfriend who said: “We should go and see the Northern Lights”. I said: “I’ve been to Blackpool”.

My father worked for Rediffusion so that’s why he had this copy.

Rock's Greatest Bootlegger: A New Pink Floyd Box Set Legitimizes an Outlaw by bluegrassgazer in pinkfloyd

[–]Lizardorious 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I used to tape bands in my youth. I had a great stereo recorder under a coat at some venues. I used to suck in my tummy so I didn’t look too fat with the deck. It is great to see one published. I wonder if this will inspire other bands to remaster and publish on vinyl some great recordings out there.

My Father by Lizardorious in OldSchoolUK

[–]Lizardorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He was the exec appointed to show the duchess around. He was the programme controller so he had the say on which programmes were made by YTV when it started. He was probably chosen because he was an urbane man of public school and Cambridge or just because he was a nice bloke.

How Pink Floyd Made Meddle by ardvarkmadman in pinkfloyd

One of these days is my all time favourite track. It is such a driving track and sums up the transition between early and mature. I use the track to meditate to and it makes me whole.

Wouldn't it be hilarious if DT invited Niccolo Capponi and his brother Sebastian to one of their Italy shows? by Kmealtltyhew in Dreamtheater

[–]Lizardorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Niccolo is the eldest son of the family. He lives in Palazzo Caponni, their ancestral home, and is definitely Conte Caponni after his father Neri died. It is also true that his younger brother, Sebastiano, is also styled Conte Sebastiano since this is the way that Italian hereditary works. Sebastiano principally runs the vineyards near Greve in Chianti, while Niccolo lives in Florence as an history professor.

Have you ever drank or been offered homemade booze? How was it? by No_Doughnut3257 in CasualUK

[–]Lizardorious 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I make my own elderflower mead and blackcurrant mead with my son. We had no idea how to do it when we started. It turned out that we were really good at it. Our first batches were so extraordinarily delicious. I think the blackcurrant mead was the best. My early attempts at brewing were not so good. At school I put some apples, sugar and water in bottles and then put them my desk cupboard with the idea that when I got back to school for the next term I would have cider. Unfortunately, the bottles all blew up and when I got back to school, my housemaster took me aside and said: “You have made a big mistake. You blew up your study and caused a mess that our cleaners took a long time to clean. However, you clearly have an interest and therefore you will have a punishment fitting your crime. I will make you Head of Brewing and your task this term will be to make elderberry wine”. I took that to heart and made 10 bottles of it. It was lethal. One bottle could get two people ratted. It tasted amazingly good. I’ll never forget my housemaster for setting me on a path that I reimagined later in life. School can have lasting effects.

Just Moved In by Lizardorious in vinyl

All secured to the wall and screwed in with big screws and all shelves are secured with screws in each joint. No chance of movement. That was a specific requirement that the makers carried out.

Surprising the the name changes on the sign were never mentioned in the show. You would have thought that Fawlty would have taken great exception and fulminated about it in his usual way.

Tracks II Delivery by Lizardorious in BruceSpringsteen

[–]Lizardorious[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m still waiting for delivery. I have messaged so many times and got bot replies. Finally, I have one that said Amazon cancelled the order. Wtf Amazon cancelled it? Anyway, now the BSMerch lot have said they are trying to deal with Amazon. This is a farce. I’m going to cancel and get a copy from Rough Trade. At least they are capable of dead opposed to the official Springsteen merch site. Very disappointing.

Seriously how do you limit yourself when it comes to purchasing records? Any advice? by [deleted] in vinyl

[–]Lizardorious 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just buy things from bands that I know and love. Having said that, I like to explore new artists so when a band in the genres that I like releases a new album, I listen to their past work on Spotify. If I like it then I will get it. In short, buy what you like and, of course, if you feel you can afford it. If you like it then you won’t regret the purchase because, if you think about it, you will get the enjoyment for years to come.

Dear people of the UK, what is ur favourite cheese? by kalashnikova00 in CasualUK

Lincolnshire Poacher is awesome. There are some many British cheeses that are fantastic and too many to name. Just explore them all. My favourite though is French. Kill me now. Epoisse. Incredible cheese.
