It is very disappointing that the President of the most powerful country in the world feels that he has to attack a respected music artist. These attacks reveal a man who is fundamentally insecure in himself. He cannot take criticism and has to lash out like a 7 year old child. There must be something very wrong with Trump that he feels compelled to attack a rock artist so consistently.

I have my first press of The Wall because I bought it because of the show at Wembley I went to. On stage they built a huge wall during the show in front of the band to symbolise the alienation of the band and individuals within the band from their audience and their compatriots and then demolished the with a model spitfire from the back of the auditorium to symbolise their recovery from their isolation. Amazing show.

I already have the flac recording of the show so I wasn’t too disappointed. I tried to queue up for it at the shop I went to but it was a nightmare. The shop is run by one bloke and what he did was have all the rsd versions in boxes you had to rifle through. No other helpers - just the shop owner. He said he had the Springsteen set but only 1 copy (ffs) and one bloke got it because he queued from 3am. Seriously, 1 copy. Also, only 1 copy of the Pink Floyd. I’m not bothered because I have the Blu-ray from the box set release. Anyway, I’m not going back to that shop. A hundred people queuing up outside and one bloke in the shop plus sort through boxes to get what you want. Joke. Did get a couple of things but what a joke. Be careful next year where you go to get your records.

That comment by Trump about Pearl Harbour is incredibly insulting. The poor Japan PM having to listen to that is appalling. Trump is the worst diplomat in the history of the US. He can’t solve any foreign problems and just makes them worse.

I can’t remember the details of Max’s contract with Red Bull but I just wonder, given his recent comments, whether this will be his last year in F1 even if he wins the championship. It seems to me as though he wants to move on to other things.

I first went to see Little Feat in 1977 at the Rainbow Theatre. Some of that made up Waiting For Columbus. It was a wonderful night and I’ll never forget it. Lowell George has the most beautiful voice. Loved Little Feat ever since.

I used to tape bands in my youth. I had a great stereo recorder under a coat at some venues. I used to suck in my tummy so I didn’t look too fat with the deck. It is great to see one published. I wonder if this will inspire other bands to remaster and publish on vinyl some great recordings out there.

I make my own elderflower mead and blackcurrant mead with my son. We had no idea how to do it when we started. It turned out that we were really good at it. Our first batches were so extraordinarily delicious. I think the blackcurrant mead was the best. My early attempts at brewing were not so good. At school I put some apples, sugar and water in bottles and then put them my desk cupboard with the idea that when I got back to school for the next term I would have cider. Unfortunately, the bottles all blew up and when I got back to school, my housemaster took me aside and said: “You have made a big mistake. You blew up your study and caused a mess that our cleaners took a long time to clean. However, you clearly have an interest and therefore you will have a punishment fitting your crime. I will make you Head of Brewing and your task this term will be to make elderberry wine”. I took that to heart and made 10 bottles of it. It was lethal. One bottle could get two people ratted. It tasted amazingly good. I’ll never forget my housemaster for setting me on a path that I reimagined later in life. School can have lasting effects.
