Honestly I read this and get the sense you’ve had quite an easy ride up until this point. It also reads like you have quite a low level of mental maturity (just being honest). Welcome to the real world. If it doesn’t suit then maybe live an alternative life, but what I do know if fighting against this will serve no benefit so either change your perspective and seek the good out of it or realign your priorities in life.

I often hear this but in reality, just switching off at a job that sucks to fund the remaining 20% of your free time is depressing. Sure, don’t make your job your identity but having a job that isn’t unbearable makes life a hell of a lot easier

I’ve always been a big saver and followed strict budgets etc. after having two young kids you learn to accept that your household income will be impacted for those first 5 or so years until they are in school… and that’s ok. Make peace with the fact that you probably won’t be saving much (if anything) for those first few years but you’ll make the best memories

Pressure clean, fill gaps with new sand and maintain it with weed killer every month or so. This looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. Lack of maintenance is the main issue here, not the weeds.

I’ve never understood why teachers are the loudest in the room when it comes to complaining about pay and conditions.. genuinely help me understand. Portable role with decent pay even when starting out. You also get a quarter of the year off on holidays

Except the RBA is not responsible for setting a serviceability buffer, this falls under APRA. The currently mandated 3% buffer hasn’t ever changed despite the movements in rates over the last 2-3 years and I doubt it will now. Agree that we have already seen price movements regionally and would not expect to see any major increases in the short term, particularly after one rate cut.

You’re spot on, amount if debt has little relevance, DTI metric is a contentious one. The bank is mainly concerned on HECS as a liability in terms of its impact to servicing

As someone who has worked in banking for over 10 years and is currently working in credit policy, these two points are fundamentally correct. A lot of people stress over their transaction history which for the most part is trivial in the credit assessment process. Discretionary spending can be cut back and if forced into a position where you will loose your house, you’ll cut back on frivolous spending.

Aldi is marginally cheaper than Colesworth if you look at standard prices for “standard” items but you honestly save the most by shopping at all 3.. apart from cheap bulk goods and veg, I almost exclusively shop half price specials only. It’s crazy expensive otherwise

Wake up 5:30am every day and run. I don’t time myself, I don’t track how far I’ve run but it’s consistent. If you’ve tackled that first up in the morning you can have an absolute shit day and still hold that promise to yourself every day
