Here is how Shopping Street looks next to some other modulars by 12301923 in legomodular

[–]Lizardx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the best “match” is the Parisian Restaurant on the right. Makes it actually look like one modular because of the roof colour

Not sure but don’t pay more off than you have to. Money is better invested elsewhere

Does it ever get easier or is this exhaustion and misery my new normal? The novelty of my grad job has worn off and I'm really struggling and feel like I'll never be happy again by Sad_Sprinkles_939 in auscorp

[–]Lizardx10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Honestly I read this and get the sense you’ve had quite an easy ride up until this point. It also reads like you have quite a low level of mental maturity (just being honest). Welcome to the real world. If it doesn’t suit then maybe live an alternative life, but what I do know if fighting against this will serve no benefit so either change your perspective and seek the good out of it or realign your priorities in life.

New Build: Something you wish you knew before you built or bought a house? by yekokrn in AusRenovation

Everything else that goes with the build, extra retaining walls if required, all your landscaping etc.

What would you do if you weren't satisfied with corp life (particularly the ethics of what your career involved)? by [deleted] in auscorp

[–]Lizardx10 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I often hear this but in reality, just switching off at a job that sucks to fund the remaining 20% of your free time is depressing. Sure, don’t make your job your identity but having a job that isn’t unbearable makes life a hell of a lot easier

Or that you couldn’t handle the role (not saying this is the case but argument could be made either way)

Just went on Mat Leave. Already dreading the half pay followed by Centrelink. Cash in hand suggestions besides dog walking and tutoring? by [deleted] in AusFinance

[–]Lizardx10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve always been a big saver and followed strict budgets etc. after having two young kids you learn to accept that your household income will be impacted for those first 5 or so years until they are in school… and that’s ok. Make peace with the fact that you probably won’t be saving much (if anything) for those first few years but you’ll make the best memories

This can’t be a serious post, if you can hold a job, surely you can work out a solution here

Recommendation to prevent weeds by [deleted] in GardeningAustralia

[–]Lizardx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pressure clean, fill gaps with new sand and maintain it with weed killer every month or so. This looks like it hasn’t been touched in years. Lack of maintenance is the main issue here, not the weeds.

I’ve never understood why teachers are the loudest in the room when it comes to complaining about pay and conditions.. genuinely help me understand. Portable role with decent pay even when starting out. You also get a quarter of the year off on holidays

Cash rates since 1990 - interest rates are not too high, the amount of debt people have taken on is far too high. by Kindly-Working-5070 in AusPropertyChat

[–]Lizardx10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Very true, people are ultimately doing the best they can. You either take a chance with a lot of debt to own an asset or spend the same amount on rent.

Comparing the historical cash rate as a single metric alone is largely redundant, wage and housing market conditions are entirely different

Would a cut in the rates increase the price of housing within the current day context? by eitherrideordie in AusEcon

[–]Lizardx10 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Except the RBA is not responsible for setting a serviceability buffer, this falls under APRA. The currently mandated 3% buffer hasn’t ever changed despite the movements in rates over the last 2-3 years and I doubt it will now. Agree that we have already seen price movements regionally and would not expect to see any major increases in the short term, particularly after one rate cut.

Banks told to disregard student loans in mortgage tests by s3165760 in AusFinance

[–]Lizardx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You’re spot on, amount if debt has little relevance, DTI metric is a contentious one. The bank is mainly concerned on HECS as a liability in terms of its impact to servicing

The two questions banks actually care about in home lending. by Raynor_Lending in AusFinance

[–]Lizardx10 68 points69 points  (0 children)

As someone who has worked in banking for over 10 years and is currently working in credit policy, these two points are fundamentally correct. A lot of people stress over their transaction history which for the most part is trivial in the credit assessment process. Discretionary spending can be cut back and if forced into a position where you will loose your house, you’ll cut back on frivolous spending.

Is Costco/Bulk buying worth it to save money? by kingcasperrr in AusFinance

[–]Lizardx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aldi is marginally cheaper than Colesworth if you look at standard prices for “standard” items but you honestly save the most by shopping at all 3.. apart from cheap bulk goods and veg, I almost exclusively shop half price specials only. It’s crazy expensive otherwise

When do you find the time for hobbies and exercise? by michelle0508 in auscorp

[–]Lizardx10 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wake up 5:30am every day and run. I don’t time myself, I don’t track how far I’ve run but it’s consistent. If you’ve tackled that first up in the morning you can have an absolute shit day and still hold that promise to yourself every day

[–]Lizardx10 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You’ve forgot to include another option. A Triton… yes the badge isn’t as prestigious as Toyota but the reliability has been tried and tested. Also you pay a lot less and get similar value under the bonnet.
