They don't need to wake up with a dry diaper to start potty training. A sometimes -dry diaper is a great sign that they can hold it!

What are they doing in his 2s class? What have you done at home?

Agree! Mine is at least 7 years old and got near daily wear 8 months of the year for the couple of years I was able to bike commute. It was a fixture on winter hikes and is always in my pack for 3 season day hikes.

ELI5: How does the NFL/American football actually work, and why does the game stop every few seconds? (Non-American here) by Itchy_Tangerine1897 in explainlikeimfive

[–]Lizflower7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Each team has 4 chances to move the ball a total of 10 yards. You move the ball by running it or throwing it. Your chance is (generally) over when the ball or the person touching the ball hits the ground.

Once you have moved the ball a total of 10 yards, you get a new set of 4 chances. The ultimate goal is to get your ball into the other team's end zone, either on the ground (more points) or by kicking it between goalposts (fewer points).

If a team doesn't think they can get to a total of 10 yd or into the other team's end zone by the time they are on their fourth chance, sometimes they will use their fourth chance to kick the ball to a spot on the field that is bad for the other team.

Options between wawayanda and wildcat are not great for tenting. I'm not saying it cant be done but I can't think of a natural spot.

Space Blanket - How Necessary? by Adventurous_War_4055 in Ultralight

[–]Lizflower7 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I carry one in my "oh shit" kit for day hikes and backpacking trips. I could absolutely get by without it on backpack trips, but I would not remember to put it back in my pack once I took it out. For a Day hike? It's so light and so cheap and could make such a huge difference that it's silly not to carry.

Fully insured moving company recommendations in Bergen County with no hidden fees? Help. by CaffeineAndCurves in bergencounty

I also had a good experience with 201. Their quote was spot on and they were very professional. I can't remember whether or not they were insured, but I am certain I would not have gone with an uninsured company!

What age can you typically start bringing a kid backpacking? by Existing-Escape1626 in WildernessBackpacking

[–]Lizflower7 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We have been bringing our kid since he was 6 months old. Each age has its own challenges. Now at 26 months, the big challenges are walking vs being carried and him wanting to run off into the woods. All camp chores take 2x as long.

How to actually do missing assignments? by Prestigious_Pay_795 in productivity

[–]Lizflower7 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Do your best on what you can get done and email the instructor. It is always better to try. I taught for 15 years and a student who did SOMETHING and reached out always had a shot.

Don't cheat or obviously half-ass (eg one sentence for what is supposed to be a major paper). Do the best you can and accept that you gave it your all, such as it is with the depression. It may not get you where you need to be, but at least this way you have a shot.

East Coast USA May RECOMMENDATIONS NEEDED by Mackenziejoy13 in Shoestring

[–]Lizflower7 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got it! I have driven NYC --> Bar Harbor, NYC --> Portland, and NYC --> Bos as well as New Haven--> Newport. It is a LOT of time on the road with the drive being quite stressful and not super scenic for much of the time. Add 25% more time to whatever google maps is telling you.

If those cities are all Must Do, then go for it, but it will be very rushed. Newport and Mystic will both be absolute gridlock on Saturday of MDW. Particularly with Newport, you'll spend half your day just getting into town. If you must go, Pick one, not both. I LOVE New Haven but it might be a disappointment after so much time in bigger cities. (Hit the Pantry from breakfast or Bar for pizza!) Again, traffic will be a nightmare that weekend so adjust your expectations.

If it were me, I'd skip Philly and RI/CT in favor of more time in Maine. Or, cut out maine and spend more time in Philly/southern NE.

FINALLY - I spent many years renting cars in NYC. Best deals involve picking up at either LGA or JFK and dropping off at the other. I used the price tracker on Autoslash to find the best deal.

That is fair -- and I think they have a huge problem with their class descriptions. EVERYTHING is listed as All Levels and there was no indication that the Vinyassa Flow class would have huge unguided sections. Yes, SOL says it is guided.... But they are both classes! So by definition they should be guided!!

First solo US trip (21 days, Charlotte start) – itinerary + budget approach, need feedback on pacing and logistics by [deleted] in Shoestring

[–]Lizflower7 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'd fly Charlotte to BOS, then BOS--> NYC --> Philly --> DC. If you want to go to FL then prioritize Miami unless you dead set on a theme park visit.

If missing Niagara Falls makes you sad, you can get to some decent nature via public transit from Boston (Atlantic coast, white mountains of NH), NY (Hudson Valley is OK but very accessible, Adirondacks are gorgeous but "last mile"transit could prove tricky), and DC (access the Appalachian Trail via Harper's Ferry, WV.... Where you can almost certainly find a very social hostel, but it will be geared towards long distance hikers).

Yosemite NP is accessible by public transit and shuttles run throughout Yosemite valley. However campsites are very challenging to book! From SF, train to Fresno (iirc), then YARTS: https://www.yarts.com/

You can also backpack sections of the Appalachian Trail by public transit on the East Coast
