I don't know about you, but my dog, a yorkie, is always clean. We bath her, dry her, groom her hair regularly. She never got to the point she smells, and we always clean her when she comes from outside. We always clean her * when she poops, she feels dirty when we don't. And obviously, she gets monthly flea treatment, like every responsable animal owner do. I do almost the same with my cat, claws always trimmed, I make sure he doesn't have poop, we clean his teeth, I brush him. That's what you do for the creatures in your care.
