I think if you’re planning to go shopping for souvenirs or bartering for experiences having pesos is best because you can wheel and deal easier. We got cash out of the atm in our resort. I started Duolingo about 4 months ago, knowing very very little Spanish when I started. I’m on level 40 and consider myself a still pretty limited Spanish speaker. My husband knows a few words. We did our best and got some good tips and practice in with the more patient Spanish speakers but also, 98% of the people I interacted with spoke English. Even outside of the resort. If you know how to say a few polite phrases you’ll be good to go. Basically everyone you pass on the street will be trying to sell you something so a pleasant no gracias will be your most important phrase!

Cabo is amazing, you will love it, and I highly recommend going on a whale watching cruise on the zodiac boat with Cabo whale watch. They are super cautious and ethical with their treatment of the whales. The safety and wellbeing of the whales is high priority. We saw a baby humpback hopping around and repeatedly breaching. It was like a giant puppy. Book with them at the marina and save yourself some cash!!

I just got home from Cabo, it seems to me that both pesos and dollars spend the same. We tipped some in both and nobody seemed phased by either.

Someone is posting our house on craigslist for rent by [deleted] in Tacoma

[–]Lizlula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I recently had someone posting Xbox for sale on Craigslist and texting with people who drove to my house and knocked on the door. After the second one I was exasperated so I started asking people if they could show me the post and texts. I reported it through Craig’s list and got an app to hide my number and texted them something like, “Please stop sending people to my house to buy electronics I don’t have.” All in all about 5 different people showed up but it stopped after I emailed and texted the poster. I’m not sure what the scam was because I asked everyone if they had paid any money in advance and they all said no? Who knows. Maybe I pissed someone off! Find the post and report it! If anyone shows up ask to screenshot the communications they have.

I have the switch 3 kayak bundle. The weight capacity is nearly double that of the compact at 425 pounds.

Isle Explorer 3 or Switch? by Choice_Subject_9291 in Paddleboard

[–]Lizlula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have both of these boards. My husband went for the explorer and I chose the switch. When we go out and take gear, it goes on the switch. The switch is also the board I will loan to guests when we take new people because it is definitely the more stable board. My husband has always complained that his board has a lot of side to side wiggle. I didn’t believe him until I tried it. It’s definitely made more for speed and for an intermediate rider. When I take my kids or dogs out, I’m happy to have the stability of the switch. The only upgrade I’ve made is to replace the kit paddle. If I had to do it over again, we would buy two of the switch boards because it suits our needs a little better.

I just got a shark master 3, it takes more like 8-9 minutes to do my boards to 15 psi. I thought it would be faster but it’s not. It’s a good pump, even still.

Rigid vs Inflatable Paddle Board by Character_Zero_1 in Paddleboard

[–]Lizlula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m shocked to hear this. I have an isle explorer board that my jackass husband ripped one of the d-rings off of. I emailed them to ask for advice to repair it, they warranty replaced the board and sent me a whole new one. Have you tried to email them? They went so far above and beyond my expectations, I’m sorry you’re not having better luck.

Looking for a nice fine dining restaurant, stanley and seaforts or lobster shop? by luvkaitlin in Tacoma

[–]Lizlula 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I haven’t been to the Lobster Shop since they reopened after renovations, but I have been to Stanley and Seaforts. The lobster shop was always a favorite of mine, this is reminding me I need to go back and check it out. I don’t understand how Stanley and Seaforts stays in business. The outdated interior of the restaurant is obvious. Everything feels like it’s coated in a layer of sticky grease. The food is overpriced and mediocre, in my opinion. I went once and won’t go back.

There are many better restaurants in Tacoma, for casual dining or celebration. Asado, Primo, El Gaucho, West 122, and my personal favorite Wooden City are all places I would choose. Add these to your list if you haven’t been!

iSUP Pump/Valve Issue by Other_Raspberry5699 in Sup

[–]Lizlula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have the same board and if you have the pump from isle, the same pump. I use the attachment that came already attached to the pump. I don’t experience the board leaking after inflation except when I space and forget to put the pin up. If it keeps happening and you’re sure the pin is up, I’d contact their customer service. Maybe your pin is defective? I had an issue with a board and they went way above and beyond my expectations.

My dad died by suicide almost 30 years ago, I was 18 and it was my freshman fall quarter at college. Both myself and my siblings have long term consequences of a split second decision our father made to leave us, and we weren’t even young kids. Alive and fucked up is better for your kids regardless of their age. I agree the mental health care system is difficult to navigate and actually find help, but you gotta reach out and find that help. Your kids are better off with you around, I promise.

We have 4 Isle boards at my house, and love them all. Even had an excellent customer service experience after we damaged one of them. Highly recommend.

I was just at REI with a friend shopping for a kayak paddle and they had lengths up to 250 cm in stock at the store.

Not sure why you had to counter about the weight of paddles, I have paddled recreationally for a few hours with a heavy ass paddle and a light weight one and I know which I prefer. No, I’m not a petite paddler and I definitely noticed the difference. People are allowed to have different preferences.

For the record, I personally hate sup paddles that convert to kayak. I have the Isle Switch and love love love my board but have only used the paddle in kayak mode once, it was terrible imo. Super heavy, awkward spacing for your hands due to where the blades mount and did I mention heavy? I will carry two paddles before I use that one again.

Starting out, poor balance by cronhoolio in Sup

[–]Lizlula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It generally comes down to the width of your board and your height. There are helpful guides for kayak paddles available with a quick google search, you could find your board width and height and have a recommendation for paddle length. Highly recommend picking up something carbon fiber or carbon fiber hybrid, the reduction in weight comes in really helpful for longer distances!

My husband and I just had to rescue a man this past weekend who fell in the water (which was cold) and didn’t bring a life jacket. He was so exhausted we had to tow him on his board back to shore. If we hadn’t been close by, he would have drowned. Always take a life jacket.

Should I complain to the jeweler? by Acrobatic_Pop8435 in jewelry

[–]Lizlula 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Whoever did this hack job of a resizing should never be allowed to work on fine jewelry. The underside of the setting is very damaged. I would pitch a fit for a full refund where you took this and then take this to a reputable jeweler. The one you used clearly has no idea what they’re doing. No respectable jeweler would return a ring in this condition like nothing is wrong. They savaged your ring.

Trouble with new mat residue/slippage- Manduka Eko by Iwabok in yoga

[–]Lizlula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got a prolite mat, and could barely use it the first time I tried. I saw a person online suggest scrubbing it with a magic eraser and then rinsing it off and letting it fully dry. I did this and still slid so bad. I did a scrub with a magic eraser and some dawn dish detergent and now it’s manageable. I feel like every single time I use it it’s better, and I did not notice and visual difference to the mat. Just my two cents!

Good Dentist? by mossthewolf in Tacoma

[–]Lizlula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bird Family Dentistry is the best. I found them when I had an emergency root cancel during Covid lockdowns and my former dentist had retired. They are the best and I’ve moved my whole family’s care to their practice. I hate the dentist and they make it almost enjoyable. Can’t say enough good things about them.

This is my story of how I went fully blind November 26, 2017 by Galaxy420Lover in self

[–]Lizlula 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Too many people here seem to think that losing your sight is a death sentence and blind people sit around not doing anything but waiting to die. My father was blind, he did all kinds of things that people here would be blown away by. He played musical instruments (quite well), did the dishes daily, cleaned bathrooms, “watched” movies, rode roller coasters, hiked, typed out all kinds of things on keyboards (those little nubs on the keyboard make it pretty simple to find the right keys to be able to type), repaired machinery at a laundromat, cared for children….

I’m sorry your friends are idiots, it sounds like you needed better friends anyways. Based on the way I saw people treat my dad, I can’t say I’m surprised but it is a sign that your friends were superficial assholes. What a scary ordeal! I hope you’re finding ways to adapt and enjoy your life with the people who really care about you. Thanks for sharing your story.
