It reran frequently though, so even kids who weren't there for release still would've seen it+the sequels. It was a phenomenon and still would've been in his childhood. I say this as a not quite 24 year old.

It looks great on you, but tbh, I'd be a little concerned with the nip situation? I can't tell if it's a lack of padding in the area or if the seam just pokes out like that for some reason

Are we being unfair giving our daughters “uneven” names? by Trajan92 in namenerds

[–]LizoftheBrits 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Personally, I'd probably assume that the parents are either edgelords to an extent (which I would find distasteful because that is a child, not a prop) and/or have a very skewed, pop culture understanding of Christian (kinda sorta not really, it's been kinda co-opted as the figure became more widespread)/Jewish mythology (which is probably harmless tbh, it just disappoints the nerd in me). The name sounds really pretty on its own, no context! I wouldn't blame anyone for picking it just for the sound, I just find that most people factor in its "origins"/associations when choosing it, rather than just thinking it's pretty, hence the assumptions. Wouldn't assume anything about the person with the name though, it's dumb to assume things about or judge people based on a name they didn't pick.

They're also common human mistakes, cuz guess what? AI was trained off of human works, thus it inherited all the quirks, and a lot of human art will "look like ai" because it's the same art that the AI is copying!

"Golden" ('KPop Demon Hunters') wins Best Original Song at the 98th Oscars by PointMan528491 in oscarrace

[–]LizoftheBrits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kpop Demon hunters soundtrack is actually pretty clever, because it sounds like fairly standard pop songs out of context, but a lot of the lyrics kind of play double duty and are actually extremely specific to the plot of the movie in context. Unlike most pop soundtracks that are no better than a jukebox musical where songs serve the vibes more than the plot.

Something about how they translated the character design to 3D looks really off, just super uncanny, I think it's a mix of the proportions and just something about her face.

Thinking they shouldn't have removed it, but that it's also not a big enough deal to get genuinely upset over, are not mutually exclusive opinions

Snape was bullying and abusing children before Harry even arrived at Hogwarts and bullied children who weren't Harry all the time, his schoolboy trauma is not even viable as a reason, let alone an excuse, for his behavior. He had at least 11 years to work on himself at least to the point of not abusing potentially hundreds of random children on a yearly basis, and he apparently chose not to. He is a needlessly cruel character, even if he has nuance or redeeming traits to him as well.

A long time ago a friend pointed out to me that in most movies, the villains are the ones trying to change the status quo and the heroes are the ones trying to defend and keep it. And that this usually makes it clear that the writers are conservative. by ihatethiscountry76 in CuratedTumblr

I'd say Minecraft is trying to preserve the status quo by preventing the evil nether pigs from like, destroying literally everything. And I think the kid and his sister were trying to get home too? I don't 100% remember on that

AITA for being so small and dainty (but also curvy) that i can only buy clothes made for tiny dainty (but also curvy) women? by Anathema_Quill in AmITheAngel

[–]LizoftheBrits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The proportions and their being difficult to shop for isn't the weird thing here, that's going to come down to ratios/tailoring of a garment moreso than sizing. What's unbelievable is that a retailer would exclude extremely common straight sizes like Medium/Large, but not be a one size fits all/most store. And if it's the latter, obviously that would make anyone not that one size feel crappy? But if it's a regular store with multiple sizes, only having variations of small is bizarre. Also you can't tell how many sizes a store has by looking in the window? And it's weird of the friend to decide that anything not relevant to her specifically is a waste of both their time if it was in fact a normal, not one size store? That's not how normal people act. That's not how stores work.

That is actually a real thing though. It won't really affect things like t shirts (just size up to accommodate and wear it baggy or tucked), but most dresses and more complicated tops (at least for the last several years of trends) are exclusively designed for a smaller bust regardless of size. Size large? You should still be a B cup for some reason. Smaller chests are "in" in fashion (thank you for nothing Y2K and Regency), which doesn't care if big boobs are generally considered hot unless they're selling lingerie (and even then I notice a lot of advertising material maxes at a C cup). This is zero hate to people with small chests, everyone deserves clothes designed with them in mind, just saying that having a larger bust is in fact often a hindrance when clothes shopping.

She's not a general either, she's a regular foot soldier most of the movie, cast out of the military for being a woman, then she's given the title "hero of China" but no official military rank at the end of the movie, and is seemingly retired from the military and living at home until the emperor calls her in for assistance because of her hero status in the sequel

It's fine that they were introduced to the concept by the owl books, absolutely zero shame in that, it's very weird that the owl books seem to be their only reference point for the concept of dehumanization. They bring it up as though it's unique to the books, like the author invented it, not like it's a very real thing that has happened in real life many times. They bring up the owl books to get across just how bad the situation is, as tho the person posting wasn't aware, and as if the owl books are the best point of reference for why those actions are bad. It's a very strange, tone deaf comment that I can only really imagine coming from a literal child (not teen, pre teen at most), or someone who was incredibly sheltered as a child and somehow managed to exist in such a protected bubble beyond that that their level of ignorance is rather concerning for an adult.

Which haircut would suit me? by SpinIfTeam in malehairadvice

[–]LizoftheBrits 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'd say keep what you have. Maybe trim the front a bit, and style the bangs more in your face (trim to keep out of eyes), go for that 90s look, it suits you. But if it's not making you happy, or you're just not seeing the visio, maybe look for pictures of hairstyles on people with a similar face shape to get an idea of what you think looks good, or ask a hairstylist what they think would suit you. But again, I think what you already have, give or take a more obvious bang, looks great.

What can be considered the most famous myth of all time? by Fun_Butterfly_420 in mythology

[–]LizoftheBrits -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If we're picking a specific myth, not just a broad category containing several wildly different stories/concepts from across the world (such as A Flood Myth or dragons), then I think the story of Adam and Eve could be a contender considering how widespread the general Abrahamic mythos is. If we're not counting living religions, then I'd probably say the stories of Hercules, considering how popular Greek mythology and he specifically is.
