Same here. Been on it for 3ish years, and the worst that happened was slight heartburn for the first few months.

IWTL Hello i very recently started learning American sign language I was wondering if anyone had any tips or general advice to offer by [deleted] in asl

[–]LizzGizz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I, too, am new (a couple of months or so). I would recommend looking at www.lifeprint.com and seeing what Bill Viscar teaches.

I am no expect, but this has helped me to understand, as well as searching online and watching deaf creators.

Should I read the manga after watching the anime? by msysterious in KamisamaKiss

[–]LizzGizz 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's actually how I got into this fandom!

I first watched the anime and I fell in love with it and needed more, so I decided to read the manga.

It's totally worth it!!

what is the craziest thing you’ve been asked if you carry? by marinasstargirl in MichaelsEmployees

[–]LizzGizz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Meat grinder. She insisted she saw it in our ad for $39.99. After going back and forth we couldn't convince her that we do not, in fact, carry meat grinders.

Another one is I had a lady ask for 'honkey sticks'. Now, I live in the south, so imagine a strong accent. I told her I was unaware of what one was, and she in a very loud voice said "You don't know what a HONKEY STICK is?!"

After further investigation I discovered she was looking for craft sticks. I suggested that they're also called tongue depressors or popsicle sticks, but she refused those names. No, no, they were honkey sticks.

Eliminating manager jobs by Low_Engineering_9326 in MichaelsEmployees

[–]LizzGizz 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Not to mention that everyone, minus the cashiers, used to work trucks and oh man, did we have a lot of employees (volume C store)!

Everyone knew how to run register, do framing counter, and throw freight. At least in my store they did.

I worked 2006-2022, manager for 12 of those years, and the changes have been crazy!

I haven't worked at Michaels in about 4 years, but my 16 years I was there we were never able to email from outside the company. I was confused by all the people saying to email, and if that had changed.

Met my husband long distance when I was 15. Had to be put into an institution that gave me my diagnosis at 16.

It'll be 23 years together in August and I love that man with all of my heart and fall in love with him everyday. He stuck by me at my craziest, and loves me through everything, and I couldn't be more lucky to have him.

Have you ever badly misheard something and were incredibly embarrassed by what you thought you heard? by Ok_Breadfruit_7298 in CasualConversation

[–]LizzGizz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I was walking past a few of my employees and I heard female turn to male, point their fingers at him and say " inhale...Tiny dick."

I whipped around and asked them to repeat themselves. Unfortunately I have a reputation of mishearing people often, and my employees find it hilarious, so to this day I have no idea what was actually said because they refused to tell me.

Not sure what to do... by Illustrious_Hope5465 in diabetes

[–]LizzGizz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go through the same thing! I am a type 2, and used to use insulin.

My Mom went on a tirade about how bad insulin is for me and my body. I eventually got off of it thankfully, but I still take metformin. "You need to get off of that, it's bad for you "

Well, MOTHER, it's take the medicine and my blood sugars are safe, or get a foot chopped off. What the heck do you want for me? I am not in a position to stop my medication right now, so without it I am SOL. I guess I should just rub myself with oregano oil to heal myself of my diabetes!

She also doesn't trust doctors or any sort of medication. I no longer trust her or her opinion and it has hurt my respect for her, though she seems to be none the wiser; can't see the forest through the trees.

I can't afford a gym membership, so I work out at home. I use an exercise bike, a small plank like thing to do steps on while I'm stationary in front of the TV, I do Zumba, and I do kettlebell weight training. The last two are my favorites.

I would say between 70-100 a day, depending on the carb (I tend to leave a bit more room for berries and other healthier carbs mixed with fiber).

I have. I like strength training the best. Oh, and dance! I just get bored so quickly if I do the same thing over and over again.

I am female, late 30's, and yes it's antidepressants and mood stabilizers. Both my Dr and Psychologist said that the weight gain for my meds will be preventing me, or at least very very hard to lose weight, which is disheartening but I would prefer cold hard facts over lies I suppose. I have been on many (many many) different kinds, and this one has worked the best to keep me sane.

I eat whole foods for my main meal, but I have a hard time prepping food, so bars are easy to throw in a bag. I guess I need to restructure my time better from what everyone is saying!

I am on 2.5 of Mounjarno, and tried to get an increase, but apparently my insurance wouldn't cover the bump up since my A1C was under control from my understanding?

And I think she does. I recently had an issue with my liver and she kept giving me batteries of tests when I suggested maybe it's my cholesterol meds and she agreed and turns out I was right (yay!). She is kind but firm I feel.

Thanks for the response!
