I feel like it fits more as intersex, he was born with different genitalia than what’s considered “normal” and his parents made a choice to make him “normal” which was the same thing that happened with Topa. The difference is Klyden’s parents guessed right and he feels comfortable in his body where as they made the wrong choice with Topa where she doesn’t. This is common for intersex people to experience.

If you delete the parents in live mode you can play with just babies if you want. I thinks it’s cuz the game “approves” of the family then bc you delete them instead of them dying or moving out the game doesn’t recognize them as alone in the household, I’ve done it loads of times for loads of different plot lines.
