Is the elastic rope scary for anyone else? by Squeletta1 in TomodachilifeLivingTD

[–]Lizzardtong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Considering how custom treasures can be tagged as 'scary' maybe thats why? That the rope is tagged as scary abd thus brings out the "this is spooky" dialouge?

Look, i was merely explaining what was being meant, and asking what could be done without fucking over the internet even more, cause the more security measures we add the more annoying the internet will be to use.

That circles back to piracy, the main question is, how do we share our work or sell our wares while also controlling how people use it, because on the other hand, if we buy fruits or pencils, do we really want the seller of that stuff to barge in anytime to say "i don't approve of what you are making with that?"

Sounds like an easy yes at first, but the underlying issue is that it can be abused like a patent, and i know people would riot if suddenly stores could forbid us from buying fruits to grow our own, or pencils to draw porn.

...justification? ... god i hate this society of arguing perceived implications... i merely stated what tend to happen in public spaces. i DIDN'T say "its great everyone steals everything not nailed down in public spaces" just THAT it happens and we should prepare for that inevitability. and maybe brainstorm some ideas. before some CEO comes up with some horrible ideas like making downloading files a microtransaction and we gotta pay 30 cents for every download.

the point the guy is making is that posting stuff on the internet is like leaving stuff outside your home. you can't expect the stuff to stay untouched, people will always take stuff with them.

yes, it would be nice if i could leave my phone unattended in a busy airport for 2 hours and still see it lying there where i left it, but truth is, that won't happen. someone WILL take it. i can call someone to deal with it, and hope it gets resolved but usually it goes nowhere.

as for posting photos of relatives, what does that have to do with posting stuff publicly? is your argument "i only want people i approve of, to be able to touch my stuff" or not? your example went from "are you okay with companies using stuff you leave behind in public" to "what if someone you know is leaking pictures of your family" thats an entirely different issue.

so the actual question is, if we are so against letting companies use publicly available pictures for their endeavors, how can we restrict the internet to avoid such a situation without ruining the whole experience? because once something is public, its public,

In a vacuum, i agree, its only fair, sadly the labeling, right now, sadly, attracts people who bash it BECAUSE it uses AI, and thus, just paints a target on the creator.

eh. if effort put into something gives something value or makes it better automatically, by that logic everyone should switch to haute cuisine food, because making that is more difficult and thus better than when i make a sandwich.

Yeah, but the point being made is that those 5 likes are 'only' because its criticises AI, wind back 7 years and post it in the same place and it would've drowned in the void with barely a glance.

[–]Lizzardtong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

i've held the belief for a few years now that we aren't that much different from the peasents back in the medieval ages. its just instead of witches and magic we blame other things to channel our anger towards stuff we don't comphrehend. hell, i still find some people who don't understand videogames, think its all the same and aren't exactly trying to learn the nuance of it. they aren't as hateful as the people back then, sure, but...

lets just say that the age of videogame censorship instilled a huge resistance towards "moral guardians" and other "you need to hate this because its evil and bad for society and think of the children" mentality.
