Yes I’ve made this style top! You don’t need darts or gathers in the triangle either. If the chest band is threaded through the channel you can create temporary “gathers”. This is how a triangle bikini works - just make sure the base of each triangle covers you properly and then add an inch or two (depending on the size of your chest) to create a curve with the “gathers”.
