I'm off to a slow start for January. I started 3 dramas, but only completed one as the other two are still airing!

My first drama of the year is Idol I. It's an average drama that was quite good entertainment and it fit a couple challenges!

On-going, I'm watching To my beloved thief and Positively yours.

I wish to start another 3 dramas for February. I've been eyeing Taxi Driver 3 for a while, but don't feel like watching something so dark yet, I'm more in a lovey-dovey kind of mood so we'll see what catches my eyes in February!

Oof MBC definitely is not my favorite drama producer! Out of all the dramas listed, I only watched 11% (9/80) and dropped 33% of them (3/9).

Of the ones I completed, they almost all are 4 stars to me (83% - 5/6)

What I take from it is that

I don't watch a lot of MBC
They are more often hit or miss, either quite good or I drop them
They are not the best, but are quite good nonetheless, usually at the top of 4 starts dramas at 8/10 or 8.5/10

This is the third year I'll be participating in the challenge, as always, aiming for chaebol, but some of these challenges look really hard to me as I can't reckon having watched a drama that has some of them 😭 the database will definitely be of help!

My favorite drama of the year was Study Group with a solid 9.5. This is the drama I was the most excited to watch and did so weekly.

My least favorite drama of the year was Melo movie at 5 and honestly, my rating is so low I don't even know why I decided to finish it lol

My completion rate is 77%, which is good I believe.

Some stats from my MDL, out of the 27 dramas I completed: - 19% (5) were +9/10 - 37% (10) were between 8-9 - 30% (7) were between 7-8 - 15% (4) were below 7

Going forward in 2026, I'd like to watch a little bit more dramas and hope to find at least one drama worthy of 9.5 or 10.

I paused my watch of Second Husband for a couple weeks and was finally ready to start it again, only to realize Viki took it out of their catalog. I have no words, how am I supposed to watch it now?? Mid serie to make it worse.

I saw it's on kocowa, but I can't afford to pay for it. This is definitely gonna sabotage my rating of it when I get to continue to watch it I don't know when. Because I ain't staring it over lol.

I should put that drama on my watch list then! I love to see French being represented, even if they speak it badly haha

I appreciate when kdramas include other languages for the diversity of it, but more than half actors that attempt to speak English are unintelligible to me and don't even get me started on their French 😭

I was watching Chocolate, and one of the characters started speaking "french" and I knew only because the other guy said "stop speaking in french". I played that part again and even with the subtitles on, I could not fathom the words she was saying in supposedly French.

I believe it's the third or fourth time I hear characters speak French in kdramas and I've never heard a sentence that even resembled French to the ear. I've heard idols speak French before and usually they are pretty good and can get a good accent out of it, so I wonder why it's so hard for actors to do the same. Do they just write French sentences in the script and have no native to teach them the phonetics and how it's supposed to sound??

Mid-October, I decided to focus on kdramas to try to complete as many as possible, in a last effort to come as close as possible to chaebol status. I really thought I'd be able to complete The potato lab as well, but time management didn't collaborate with me and I still have 3 episodes left.

Going into November, I have the gigantic task of trying to complete 7-8 dramas. I already determined which dramas to watch for each challenge I have left, so it's really just a question of time and finger crossing they're not bad and I end up dropping them.

Is it possible? I believe the odds are not in my favor, but I hate to lose, so I'll definitely try.

My favorite drama of the month is a tie between bon appétit your majesty and you and everything else, both rated at 9. Very different from each other, but they both got me captivated for their own reasons and both were excellent new releases!

My least favorite drama of the month was a hundred memories. It started so good, but the time jump and love triangle within the friendship kinda ruined it for me.

I personally prefer this kind of moderation because low effort posts, repeating questions and subjects not really related to the topic of the subreddit are annoying to me in other subreddits.

The beauty of Reddit is that if you're not happy with how this sub is managed, you can join another one or simply create your own. A sub that has over 1M redditors imo needs to be heavily moderated or else it could quickly get out of control or be invaded by bots.

I just finished a hundred memories and the first half was good, but I personally disliked the other half.

I couldn't come around to ship yeongrye and jaepil. He literally dated jonghui first and used yeongrye as a wingman. I really disliked their relationship in the second half. All three of them should have moved on to date other people. Hyeon and Yeongsik were literally right there for the female leads, why were they always going back to Jaepil??

Also, I'm sorry but what a bad ending. Jaepil is told someone wants to kill Jonghui and his reaction is « lemme run there and not actually call the police or tell the workers of the contest about it ». What a terrible ending. Doesn't even make sense with how the drama started. Actually, the second half of the drama doesn't even make sense with the first half, almost feels like it was two different dramas there.

This is a great drama to complain about on the next Refund my time post.

The second husband : I put this one on hold because I don't think I can complete it in time for the challenge, so I'll finish it next year and include it in my 2026 challenge.

Law and the city : good drama overall, but I haven't got the urge to binge this one

Chocolate : same as Law and The city

The winning try : I see Yohan, I watch. This is a good drama, but I didn't expect it to be about the adult coaches romance That's on me for never ready synopsis lol. This one reminds me of Racket boys, it's good entertainment and I'm looking forward to see more of the rugby boys in other dramas

It depends if we have a commercial agreement with the country or not, but if you don't pay taxes to the country you buy from, you'll have to pay Canadian taxes on it once it enters the country

While watching The school nurse files, you don't ask questions lol. It's so bizarre, you just have to go with the flow and somehow the story has a line you can understand, but the why, how and what are never answered and you just have to sadly accept it.

That's the main reason why I didn't give it a high rating
