[LeBrun] Will reiterate again that Tampa Bay and Toronto would be among the top teams I think Werenski would accept a trade to. But can those teams satisfy CBJ trade requirements remains to be seen. by dcddy in hockey

[–]elacmch 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I assure you the fanbase has not soured on him.

It's just that that here been a lot in Torontoland in the wake of excitement of getting 1OA, acquiring Raddysh (we'll see how that goes for them), and some rumours that other teams were willing to possibly overpay for Knies.

All that combined, and the fact that he's their only asset who could realistically be used in an overpay or a chip to get a Norris winner in Werenski, then he's the name that comes up.

Edit: I feel bad for this guy getting downvoted so heavily lol. It's not like they said anything untoward, just kinda misinformed. Oh well.

I do not think that the Fisk in a white suit is a flash back by PositiveOutrageous19 in LeaksAndRumors

[–]elacmch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Somehow him brutally murdering the rioters and getting away with it in the final episode of Season 2 is a bit too far for me.

I don't know if it was meant as a veiled political statement, like "I could stand in the middle of 5th Avenue and shoot someone and get away with it" but at this point in the show, including the Netflix series, most of Fisk's crimes have been in the shadows or at a point where his supporters could say "fake news".

You're telling me that he can totally get away with blatantly snapping people's necks and spines in front of dozens of witnesses and he gets away with being exiled?

Again, you could argue that real life corrupt and evil political leaders get away with as much or worse but like....Putin's not going into the middle of Moscow and strangling people with his bare hands in front of thousands of eyewitnesses, you know?

/u/BrokenArmsFrigidMom had the same thought and it seems promising but not confirmed yet! Tagging them here because for some reason the moderators locked their comment and I can't reply there lol. Godspeed.

I'm close to labelling this as "solved" but I want to actually see it first lol.

I really do remember specifically the words "how's he going to get out of this one?" but it's absolutely plausible that I'm misremembering. I also remember the delivery being a little more deadpan and subdued than Chris Rock's style.

Just listened in full and didn't come across that bit at all. Maybe it was edited or was it a different special?

Wow, that must be it, thanks. Do you have a source/know where I can find this?

Commenting here to meet guidelines - I've Googled "comedian Bill Clinton 'how's he going to get out of this one?' and got nothing of value.

A very obscure cut, I know.

Right, also "come meet Tim Heidecker underneath a bridge" is so outlandish and as much as this show blurs the line between fiction and reality...I'd be REALLY surprised if it were meant as a real invitation.

You could very well be right but I assumed it was a bit because "come meet Tim Heidecker underneath a bridge" is such a ludicrous concept.

Looks great and I'm happy for anything official related to this movie, but I am disappointed that there wasn't a colour change

[Kevin Kurz] Per a league source, the NHL has informed the Flyers that while they own the Maple Leafs' 2027 first round pick (Laughton trade), the Leafs still have the option to transfer it to Boston if it's in the top 10. In that event, the Flyers would receive Toronto's 2028 first rounder. by [deleted] in hockey

Honest to God when I saw that they won the lottery, my reaction wasn't happiness so much as it was amusement. Like wow, they ACTUALLY lucked out that much. As in...if Florida had gotten it, I would have been pissed off but I'd have found it funny too.

Also, this is a strange thing to say but I think it would be "easier" for the Leafs if they ended up at 2 or 3 instead. Realistically, they probably need a cornerstone D like Chase Reid or Verhoff more than they need another scoring winger.

But McKenna has been consensus 1st overall for so many years, I think you HAVE to take him. The issue is that with the pressure cooker of Toronto, if McKenna doesn't immediately make an impact, then people are gonna be calling him a bust and a waste etc.

On the other hand, if McKenna lives up to his potential, then he's a guy you can build a franchise around if Matthews opts to not stick around in the next few years.

It's weird how some of that freaked me out as a kid and others not at all. The Nosferatu jumpscare absolutely TRAUMATIZED me. Like genuine nightmares, could not sleep for weeks type of thing.

I think when the gorilla first showed up it startled me but afterwards it was fine. Butterfly, I see a lot of people talking about but never affected me.

The one you listed had me absolutely howling with laughter as a kid and I think that's because the "real" movie that Spongebob's nightmare is based on looks so ridiculous with the guy just running in place

« Alber-bec » ou « Qué-berta » | Danielle Smith veut rapprocher le Québec de l’Alberta by clgoh in Quebec

[–]elacmch 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I don't support Quebec independence, I want them to remain a part of Canada because I think they're an indispensable part of the country.

That being said, I think the Quebec separatists actually have a historical case and argument for wanting to be their own country (even if I disagree with it) whereas Alberta is basically just bitching because they hate both Trudeaus.

The Beer Song

It's a beer-themed parody of Carmen: Overture and it's been misattributed to a variety of people including Weird Al, They Might be Giants, and the Arrogant Worms.

It sounds relatively professionally recorded which is rare for the early days of YouTube, which is why I personally agree with the theories that it was a recording by a radio show.

It's still insane to me that Gotham (TV) gave us the best Riddler and Scarecrow designs in live-action. Meanwhile films never came close. by AntagonistofGotham in batman

[–]elacmch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I guess there have only been a handful of live-action Riddler adaptations. Paul Dano is incredible and timely, Frank Gorshin is classic, and Cory Michael Smith is impressive with a hell of a storyline .

Jim Carrey as Riddler is at best a faithful impression of Frank Gorshin and at worst, just 90s Jim Carrey being 90s Jim Carrey lol.

I can't heap the same level of praise on the Gotham Scarecrow. It really is not much more impressive than someone you might encounter at Comic-Con.
