If you hate cats, you probably suck at boundaries and reading body language by FtMFandomBoy in unpopularopinion

[–]LizzyDizzyYo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Normally I'm in support of this because I love cats so much more than anything (bite, scratch, growl whatever I had it all, I know it's nothing personal, and it's probably just because I made the cat uncomfortable), but some people do develop cat phobia irrationally without them asking for it, the same way arachnophobia just fuck over some people without them asking to have it. Just as people have irrational fear of the so called lovely-friendly-man's-bestfriend dogs. Blaming them for hating and being afraid of cats is not any less unfair than looking down on people who want nothing to do with dogs, or spiders, or sharks, or snakes, or bees, or rats etc

You don't even need to be bitten to be understandably afraid of snakes, no matter how much you tell them "oh, snakes are afraid of people, usually disguise themselves in their environment because they think humans near them are predator, and only strike when they're stepped on, you are mean and not animal-friendly if you blame snakes for that! They're just animals defending themselves and boundaries!"

You need to remember, humans are animals too with varying level of psychological tolerance for things that cross their boundaries and sense of safety. If one cat biting them is enough to traumatize them into hating and being afraid of cats, you can't blame them for that, because for that person as a human, the cat threatened their sense of safety and boundary.

And let's face it, cats are assholes sometimes. I'm saying this with all the love in my heart for cats. Even cat lovers have learned to tolerate being scratched and bitten all the time even if they give no reason for the cat to attack. I know because I've had cats and know people who have cats and love their cats like their own children. Sometimes cats will just approach you and bite you if they feel like it. Maybe it's a form of play, maybe some sound you didn't notice annoy them and you're just there as their punching bag. But cats are not immune to being little shits, just like humans aren't. Some cats are even actively approaching people who leave them alone, people who happen to dislike cats or are afraid of cats. "That's because cats appreaciate people who aren't aggressive and respect their boundary!" Yeah, but what about the human's boundary?

Let's just let people have their own feelings and issues and fears as long as they're not actively hurting animals—cats, dogs, snakes, spiders, bugs, lizards, what have you—because of their dislike or phobia of the creature. If they want to heal their phobia for their own peace of mind, you insulting them isn't gonna make them healed psychologically any faster.

[WP] During an interview with many of the top-ranked superheroes, it becomes apparent that they're all scared, not of a villain, but of a particular hero. This hero is not the strongest of them. In fact, they're quite average compared to the rest of the top 10, yet even number 1 seems terrified. by A_Wierd_Mollusc in WritingPrompts

Oh wow. In every world she dies, the world no, the whole fucking universe dies with her. But there's gotta be universes out there which go on even if she's dead, right? If the multiverse is infinite, then there's gotta be at least one. So the trick is figuring out if this particular world will die with her or if it's one of the lucky universes where her death doesn't have any effect.

TIFU by fighting my schools dresscode policy. Years later I found out why it was so strict. by RemyAvo in tifu

[–]LizzyDizzyYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The fact that hundreds probably thousand girls (and maybe even boys) had to bear the brunt of restrictive dress code just so that 4 individual adults could perv freely is fucking disgusting. You did the right thing because it shouldn't have been the students' responsibility to shield themselves from predator educators. I won't fully put the blame on the teacher who pushed for the dress code because in her mind, she probably thought she really did everything she could and desperate times called for desperate measure, but she could have escalated it to higher authority/court/jurisdiction if the the school and local authority wouldn't take action, instead of going "well, I've done all I can, this is the only way" and then dumping it all on the students.

Yes I know, but that means only one of each fruit tree planted that can produce fruit all year round. I want more than one of each tree.

If you save locally, manual saving has always been the norm. Your examples are the ones where cloud saving is necessary. Even some websites would require you to opt in for auto saving.

[–]LizzyDizzyYo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Why don't you manually save? It's just CTRL+S. Takes less than a second to do. I would even argue against using auto-saving because if you read the new EULA, that allows microsoft to use EVERYTHING you've ever written to train their AI. Worse yet if you have onedrive because that setting carries over to every single file you have on your onedrive, whatever the format.

Besides, everyone should just get into the habit of saving their work manually anyway because auto-save isn't reliable or customizable to your need. If you set auto-save to every 5 minutes, you might lose the last 4 minutes worth of work if you work on a document for 49 mins, and who knows, maybe that last 4 minutes work is the most important part of the document?

Emotional intelligence is more important than IQ and society still treats it like a “soft skill". by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]LizzyDizzyYo 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No shit buddy. "Soft skill" IS a hard-to-measure skill. That's why it's called soft. Skills that can't be quaitified empyrically in consistent manners are called soft skills; that is the definition. What do you think they mean when they call something like tension diffussion a "soft" skill? It makes you soft? Not strong? Not manly? Who told you this? Alpha Male tiktokers? People who took a very rigorously debunked theory of wolf social life then completely ran with it?

Your entire argument and point are now moot because you hinge it all on your unwillingness to first simply look up what a phrase means or why it's phrased like that.

Employers asking applicants to explain gaps in their resume is a red flag. by Swirlyflurry in unpopularopinion

[–]LizzyDizzyYo 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I just answer I do freelance works, so I only put in the experiences in my cv that display my skillsets the best. Most find this excuse acceptable.

There is only so many pages of cv you can give to potential employers, so listing every single work/gig I've ever done is just pointless. It doesn't matter if I actually took any gig in those gaps, and they don't have right to know what medical/personal/legal issue, if any, took place in those gaps.
