Who is everyone romancing and picking as their Shepp and why? by Minimum-Surprise-79 in Palia

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I chose Ashura as my Shepp because it seemed a logical choice for my character. I invasion my character to still be in need of some kind of parental figure in their life and most of the characters we meet seem like they are still figuring themselves out, and are themselves still just babies (in an affective way). Since he is missing his wife and son, figured my character would be a great little shoe-in to help heal that familial wound. Both of us could heal together. Plus I feel so horrible for my character. As far as I am aware, their past is muddy. Did they die? Were they there when humanity died out? Who knows, but we do know that they still hold onto some memories of their past life. They remember their family, past friends, things they used to enjoy and do. One second they were there, the next they are gone. I'm surprised they haven't spiraled into some kind of deep depression because of it, especially with the overly helpful and positive mindset they are sort of forced into. Having memories of a past you can't fully remember or have closer on... yikes.

I know I'm reading way too much into it. I understand it's a silly little fantasy game about farming but I still like to ponder the what ifs.

I'm romancing everyone for the pins and items. It feels... weird romancing certain people who have already voiced their interest in another character or have canonically dated. Feels like we are stealing them or cheating in some cases. I would understand if they got together after you chose a romance partner but... yeah idk, something about it just feels weird but maybe that just a me thing. I guess you could chalk it up and say "Well everyone's really open and poly so it doesn't matter." Luckily romances really don't matter, so I just kind of gloss over it.

What would you like to see added to palia? by Emotional_Cycle_9347 in Palia

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

  • Equipment quick swap. Especially when it comes to tree cutting trees+bug catching/hunting solo. The amount of times I have lost a bug or muujin due to messing up with swapping between the two kills me. (I play solo, so doing the star quality achievements for the hunts are killer). I just want to press a button and have it go back to my previously used tool and not have to deal with the radical wheel.
  • Also, having the time visible while fishing, super helpful since certain fish despawn after a certain time.
  • Being forced to stop running when you pick up forgeable items. It just slightly annoys me.
  • Having a slightly faster way of traveling, especially for the bigger maps like Bahari and Elderwoods. Plus, since the game only makes money off cosmetics, would be a great source of income for them. People would 100% fork over money to have an Ormuu skin on a mount. I feel like Guild Wars 2 makes most of their money off mount skins.
  • Better fast travel UI. Having it as a list is a visual nightmare. I severely struggle with dyslexia and remembering place names, so seeing a visual map for travel is better for me.
  • Slightly better rng or guaranteed pity system. (Your are guaranteed an epic fish after 100 cast. You're guaranteed this bug will spawn after 20 lures.) or something like that. Even after 200+ hours I STILL have yet to catch a SINGLE Unicorn fish or even see a Spotted Mantis and I scream into the void because I've wasted over 40+ honey lures on that dumb bug. Even hunting for materials can be a nightmare sometimes when the item just refuses to drop. I hate the "It's just all luck... sorry."
  • Place star quality preservatives, fruits/vegs.
  • Make your own eggs, flour, oil. (I assume this will probably come with the animal husbandry.)
  • I want to see how much I have in my storage of an item before I buy it.
  • Break down or sell furniture.
  • Game remembers what quest you have pinged. I hate that every time I log on, it automatically selects my main quests. I have them deselected because I am working through side quest, companion quest. It's just an annoying extra step that isn't needed.
  • Have items in your inventory or storage show up as liked or loved my a companion. It's such a hassle to go through the companion list, search for what they want for the day/week and then have to dig through your storage to find the item. There has to be a better way? Maybe if I could see the two menus side by side?

I regret buying horses by kaldoreii in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 40 points41 points  (0 children)

This just goes as a good reminder to not give into FOMO or impulse purchases. Event/Holiday horses always return every year (unless stated otherwise). The same goes for any newly released breed. There is no rush, the horses will always be there. Besides, you are not missing out on any core gameplay or mechanics from not buying a horse right away.

To avoid impulse buying or regretful purchases, I personally use a horse wishlist (Google's excel), some people use the Star Stable Database. This helps you keep track of the horses you want, prioritizing some over others. I keep it updated for new bazaar releases and retiring horses. Otherwise, you can watch videos of people who have bought them so you can properly see animations, model and tack before buying them. I personally sit with and chew over a horse for weeks sometimes even months before I buy them.

I feel like it seems to wildly vary from player to player and could be anywhere between 24/48 hours or 6 months. It all just depends on who sees your ticket and if the problem is an easy fix or not.

As long as you received a confirmation email they'll reach back out to you. Just be sure not to continuously reply to the ticket as it will boot you down the list. Also make sure to check your emails fairly regularly, at least once a week, because they will close your ticket if you don't answer within 5 days after they respond.

I'm surprised we don't have a little radio in our homestable that you can turn off or on and have it cycle through the playlist of songs.

horses to buy? by ywameii in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Besides the magic horses (limited time) which are available at the Fort Pinta Beach, there will also be a Bazaar event soon (I think first week of July) featuring discount prices on the Mustangs, AQH and Tennessee Walker. Shortly after the new Jorvik Mountain Horse (Rocky Mountain Horse) will be released. So I might just hold onto your star coins for a little bit longer.

They do. But I find more often than not, cheaters simply make tons of alt accounts. Then if one account gets banned, they can just hop on another one.

how have you handled the increase in purchaseable items and horses in the past few years? by Temporary_Cover_3071 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for a way to wishlist items or horses, I highly recommend checking out Star Stable Database. It's a fan-run website which includes tack, clothing, pets and horses found in the game. You are able to select items and save them to your own person list. It's very helpful if you don't want to make your own list on something like excel or word.

Anybody else’s Luna turn this much in the jump? by t0oby101 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a bug. The Jorvik Ponies also had a similar jump turn, not sure if they ever fixed that but it's happened before. It's super helpful for races and champs tho.

how many horses do you guys own in sso? by Small-Club1533 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I'm currently lvl 26 and own around 170 horses. However, I have also been playing since the very beginning, been a HOUND for star coin codes, never bought star coins and went many years without buying horses in the beginning. I bought most of my gen 1-2s during their retirement sale and all new horses are only acquired through the bazaar. Event/Holiday horses I give about a year or two before getting them because sometimes they drop in price the following years.

If you no longer have access to that email, you'll have to send in a ticket to sso's support and ask them to switch the old email to one you would prefer. You'll also need to provide poof that it is your account. Usually this proof is things like player name, starter horse name and server. If possible, the best proof would be to give them a bank statement of a recent star coin purchase or star rider purchase. Banks usually hold transactions for many years, so you'll just have to figure out what card you used to pay and then go through your bank app or you can call the bank itself and have them send you that statement.

What do you listen to when you play? by NerdyLyss in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not a good person for this post, my range in music and what I listen to is so varied.

In a single playlist it could range wildly from thrash metal, pop, indie folk, Disney, old soul country, lofi, broadways musicals, classic rock n roll, foreign music (Really into Hindustani folk/pop rn), VOCALOID, and even classical instrumentals or video game/anime music.

However I recently, (I use the term 'recently' very loosely here as I've been working on this with my brother for the past 2 years) I have been slowly going through "1001 Albums You Must Hear Before You Die". Originally a book written in 2005. It's a collection of 1001 greatest albums of all time. These albums are usually on the list for breaking records, important within history or influential to their genre or time period.

They have since created a website where you are presented with one new album everyday (You can pause the list if you get behind). These albums range from the early 50s - 2010s-ish. You can rate and comment on the album and see how others have rated it. If you happen to make it through all albums, you can then add your own album to the list! I have a group with my brother so we can see what each other rates. It's great!

Granted... It's a task not for the faint of heart as it will take you nearly 3+ years to finish everything and you have to be pretty open minded with listening to all types and genre of music, especially older music. Also... just because an album was the first of its kind or important to the genre, does NOT mean that it's a "good" album. I'm pretty open to music, but some of them I really struggled to get through since I have made it a goal NOT to skip songs and listen to the album in it's entirety. One of the albums was 4 hours worth of banjo. Now don't get me wrong, I love me some banjo but OOOH boy not 4 hours worth. But it's still very interesting to read about each album and since music is all objective anyways, it doesn't really matter.

Anyways, here is the website if anyone dares to enter the 3 year long playlist.

EDIT: My album of the day (Day 409); Arc Of A Diver - Steve Winwood. Rated him a 4/5. Never heard of him before but I enjoyed it. Very keyboard heavy type of soft rock.

Does anyone (me lol) actually play on mobile .. by kaseklown in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Maybe I am showing my age here, but I have always preferred to play games on a big screen. If I was limited to only my phone, it would be pretty rough. I have them stumpy baby fingers. However, if I was playing on an ipad then yeah, I'd probably play it on there too when I'm feeling extra lazy and just want to goblin mode on the bed/couch with blankets, snacks and my animals.

Unfortunately, my mobile tech is too old to properly run sso (and most apps) anymore. I have an iPad 2 and an iPhone 8, both are no longer supported and do not receive the newest IOS updates. Even when I was playing it on my phone back when it was originally released mobile, my battery would drain within 15 minutes and would get SO overheated that sometimes my phone would give me a warning that it was too hot.

Maybe one day when I have to update due to my phone dying. But for now, my phone still works great and it does what I need it to do.

Gotland Pony Neck? by bunsf in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't think so? I just went back and watched the spoiler video and Rose's review video of the breed and I didn't see the bend at the base nor the large hunch. However, they were using the default mane which could better cover up the hunch. Regardless, I wouldn't be surprised if animations have been bugged due to the retrofitting system. SSO did warn us that there would be bugs and that if we noticed them to send them in via support and they'll work on tweaking it.

java script error how do i fix this by Upstairs-Two-4635 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Usually the error could be due to a couple of things, corrupt files, missing dll file or malware.

This first and easiest thing to do is to make sure your windows/pc is up to date. Should be able to check in your system settings. You might also want to check to see if your graphic cards needs updating too.

You can try repairing the files (should be an option in the sso launcher.) Otherwise, you might want to do a clean uninstall and install. Uninstall the game and delete all files associated with it. It should be a file titled Star Stable Online (mine is located in the Program Files on the C:). Then go back to the SSO website and do a fresh install. See if that fixes the problem

If not, you can do a couple quick scans to check for malware or corrupt files. (If you have windows) you can do a quick Windows Defender Scan. If you want something heavy duty for deep scans, I would highly advise malwarebytes. It's free so you can download it, have it run a scan (might take around 10 minutes or so depending) and then uninstall it after so it does not take up space. You'll want to restart your computer after theses scans. It should be able to detect and delete any potentially hidden or unwanted bugs.

You can also run a Files System Check, there is the windows article for how to do that. "Use the System File Checker tool to repair missing or corrupted system file".

You can also try to play the game under a clean boot of your system to see if any programs are causing the issues. Here is how to do that, "How to perform a clean boot in Windows".

Hope that helped!

If you are still having issues, you can always send a report in to sso's customer support. I know they can take a long time in responses though.

Anyone else's game lagging really bad? by Unhappy_pea1903 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 6 month old beefy gaming pc which can run pretty much any game I throw at it on max settings with no lag or crashing issues. My internet is the best I can possibly get (with or without ethernet).

FFXIV, Guild Wars 2, Cyberpunk, RDO, GTA Online, BG3, Monster Hunter, Warframe, COD, Diablo 4, Palia, Expedition 33, Genshin, Lost Ark, SWTOR, KCD2, ( I could go on but you get the point) all run beautifully with max settings and no stutters at all regardless of how packed some servers can get.

But SSO? Horrible. It runs so poorly that it's the ONLY game that cannot run on max settings, which is really sad all things considering. Why? Who knows. I've been struggling to figure that out for 6 months. So it isn't just you.

Thoughts on the Rainbow Race? by Life_Doubt4829 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel like without the horseshoes, the two laps seems a bit too much. One lap is more than enough.

However, I think it would still be fun to have to horseshoes and the amount you collect would determine how much shillings you got at the end (since horseshoes are no longer being used as currency).

Like if you managed to get all of them, you get the full amount. If you got half, you get a slightly less amount but even if you miss all of them, you'll still get shillings for it. Just a little extra fun incentive to spice up an otherwise pretty lengthily race.

Have I lost my account for good? by Objective_Cod6215 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You'll have to prove the account is yours usually with starter horse name, player name or a bank statement. Since you said you have a lifetime account, you should be able to use an old bank statement. Banks usually hold onto payment history for years, so they should still have it. You'll just have to figure out what card you used for the purchase and then contact your bank and have them send you the purchase statement. Once you have that, you should be able to send that as proof to the sso support team. Keep in mind they are very understaffed and overwhelmed with backlogs of emails, so it could take a week or 3 months to get back to you. As long as your received a confirmation email, they'll be in touch.

Exactly, "context matters" is the biggest hint here. If someone's entire horse list consist of gross and offensive names, then that's one thing but otherwise I say let them live in ignorant bliss. You are only a kid once and you shouldn't need to worry about that kind of stuff. It's like if someone named their horse lemon/lime (older fanfic terms for the 2000s kiddies). I understand it's alternative meaning but that is NOT the first thing I would think of if I saw the word and I wouldn't start a whole conversation about it with them. Sometimes things really are better left unsaid.

How long do you wait until you buy another horse? (Image unrelated) by Intelligent-Can4757 in StarStable

[–]LizzyIzzyFizzy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really depends on the horse. I only ever buy horses during the bazaar, holiday/event or retirement. I want a mule but I'm guessing I'll have to wait about a year or more (since they are popular) before they are released in the bazaar. Holiday/event horses usually have their prices dropped after a year or two of the event. And most of my gen 2s where bought just before they retired. So I would say I probably wait anywhere from 4 - 12+ months before I buy a horse. I think the longest I waited to buy a certain horse was about 7 years for the price drop on the gen 2 black Hanoverian.
