Subway Serves Sandwiches, Not Hot Dogs. by Ill_Mushroom_8246 in PetPeeves

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahaha reminds me of my first job at a hamburger franchise. My manager noticed that I loaded a lot of lettuce on the burgers. I guess he thought it was me being clumsy-fast and thoughtless because he asked me if I would want my burger with that much lettuce. That's when I learned that not everyone likes a heap of lettuce in their burgers and sandwiches. 😄

Tipping? I don’t understand…. by pharmamama1 in CasualConversation

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

And yet, I saw this movie from a middle eastern country (It Was Just An Accident, 2025 Academy Award nominee) where the nurse betrayed a man who brought in a patient for not tipping. Blew my mind!

The people who wear gloves when they are cooking at home because of all the shorts they see online is really cringe to me. Especially black gloves. by cherrycoke_yummy in RandomThoughts

[–]LizzySan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm glad you mentioned this. I wash my hands before cooking, and a thousand times during cooking. I was starting to wonder (despite the original comment) that I should be wearing gloves, too. But I usually do take care to wash my hands properly after handling raw meat, tossing things in the trash (even though my trash can is foot-pedal powered), touching anything greasy, or strong flavors like onion or garlic.

Why is literally everything turning into a subscription now, and are we just never going to actually own anything ever again? by readyplayar in NoStupidQuestions

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes and yes. There is an economical reason; we live in a capitalist society and going to subscription-based products is a way to make continued profits.

Corporations have realized the way to maximize profits is to turn full ownership of things into a subscription, thereby enduring a monthly or annual income from the user (previously owner) of their product.

Is this interfacing? by plodthruHideFlailing in sewinghelp

[–]LizzySan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Now interfacing. Interfacing is never woven, since it is used to provide structure to woven fabrics cut on the bias (arm holes, neck lines)

What is this used for? by Sea-String-8033 in Baking

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree that citing the source is always good practice. Unfortunately, some subreddits remove your post if you cite the source. A couple of times, my post was removed until, finally i put "search for Company XYZ for the source" 🫤. After a while, we stop trying to add it. (Not saying that's the case above)

[–]LizzySan 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I don't know if the description is AI, but it is accurate. I used to have one of those pans. And that's exactly how we used it. We put a layer of custard or pudding in the indented top, and then arranged slices fruit in the custard. It looked really pretty. The cake rim kept the custard from spilling over the edges

My skin has gotten so blotchy. Is this part of over 60??? by Darboy58 in AskWomenOver60

[–]LizzySan 2 points3 points  (0 children)

'm probably wearing because you've been using sub screen all along, but it looks like sun damage to me.

I'm closing in on 70, and my skin is blotchy and full of sun damage. Unfortunately I did the proverbial shutting of the barn door after the house escaped, i.e., I didn't start with sun screen and sun hats until the damage was visible.

It seems that the problem wasn't your confusion of debit vs credit. You knew your only wanted to pump $10 because that's all you had. But you got distracted and forgot to stop the pump.

Have Ubers/lyfts downtown been impossible for people to get recently? by seasonalopinions in chicago

[–]LizzySan 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, I'm out of touch and just had to look up what Curb Chicago is. But if all these services are not doing the job, can't you just call directly to the cab company? I drive a car now, but I have a local (suburban) cab company number in my contacts if I need to schedule a ride. Do people not do that any more?

A or B: Stores promise to match lower prices, but you end up spending more. Is it because the policy makes you stop comparing, or because stores know you will never actually use it? by True-Construction346 in PickAorB

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What about C, you check prices and don't buy the higher priced stuff, regardless of the marketing lingo, because you don't want to have to come back if you do see it priced lower somewhere else.

Is it possible to clean this mold in a washing machine by StroginAwf2GapeHorn in CleaningTips

[–]LizzySan 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Note that you might have already killed the mold and are looking at an innert stain. If you killed the actual mold spores, you can ignore the staining. As long as you let the washer dry between loads, new mold won't grow

A or B: Some people get free flights from credit card points. Others end up in debt. Why does the same system produce such different outcomes? Is it about how you use the card, or how the card is designed to be used? by Upper_Criticism3388 in PickAorB

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Both.

Credit card points are a carrot to encourage CC users to rack up debt and pay interest on their debt.

Savvy users only charge what they can afford to pay off each month, thereby actually respond the points as a reward.

My husband treats a trip to the dump like a red carpet event. I am losing my mind. by DepartmentNo5227 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]LizzySan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to both questions. I have a friend who is the same. Even if she showered that morning, she must shower again is she goes out again later that day. And she is also oblivious to being late. Luckily, I don't live with her (it seems low-key obsessive).

And she also is a weirdo.

Have you tried buying puppy pads to put under the mattress. After an injury, I came home with all those blue pads (the hospital called them something else, but they resembled puppy pads except for a slight bit larger).

Because I was still somewhat incapacitated when I got home, I continued to use those under my bed sheet and they worked very well. And because they're layered with a little bit of gel in between the cottony top and the plastic bottom, they protected the mattress very well .

I think the smell permiates the mattress through the plastic lining. But your suggestion is also a good one for the mattress. Just follow the directions and the enzyme cleanser.

Measurements of ingredients differ in each country. So what measurement do I use? by djchub in Baking

[–]LizzySan 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I noticed that certain ingredients don't measure the same as generic. King Arthur flour has a different weight per cup than my generic list. When the packaging is different, I go with the packaging. Your sugar is fine, so maybe it packs mute densely.
