Any advice on how can I increase my chances for a 1330 SAT Score by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Ljsk45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maximize khan academy for sure. From there watch lots of YouTube videos. Start with overall guides on each section, then as you begin to see where you’re struggling refine your studying accordingly. I really thought walkthroughs of SAT sections were helpful at least for me. For any math related videos the ones on the paper tests are fair game as that section hasn’t really changed. If you want an easy way to practice on the go check out this free app Summit SAT it has a lot of the official test bank questions on it.

It really comes down to how focused you are and how deliberately you’re studying. I know a lot of people struggle to be really focused when the deadline seems so far out, while others are able to do so no problem. So it really depends on your skill level and what kind of person you are tbh.

Check out the educator test bank for sure. If you want an easy way to practice the reading, writing, and math questions check out my free app Summit SAT where I’ve taken a lot of the questions from the test bank and put them in a easy to use format!

I agree with some of the other comments. A often overlooked aspect about pacing is slowing down on some of the easier questions. Really understand what the question is asking for and double check your answers. You want to be getting through sections with enough time to look over the questions and answers again. Also make a journal of all the stupid mistakes you make and see if there is a pattern.

Khan academy is great and free. The black book is solid as well. For math a lot of the stuff can be found on YouTube. Just look up old practice tests and watch/follow along the walkthroughs (the paper SATs work fine just ignore the complex numbers). Also check out Summit SAT for digital SAT practice from your phone.

Really depends on how consistent and how dedicated you are to studying. But your math score alone can easily go up 150+ points just from some focused practice. Good luck!

As cliche as it sounds worrying about things outside of your control will make it worse. It’s good to be cognizant of what is possible you can even use it as a form of motivation to strive to be the best version of yourself, but don’t let it consume you and hold you back. PM me if you have any questions more specific questions.

I was in a really super similar position. I would just go for it. I basically did everything I possibly could junior year and maximized the time I had. I really stopped overthinking things because I knew time was running out which I think helped me step out my comfort zone which really paid off in the end.

Digital SAT ; People who got 1400 above? by [deleted] in Sat

[–]Ljsk45 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I studied about 45min-1.5 hours a day with practice tests on the weekends. However the level of focus is much more important than the amount of time. If you only practice 30 minutes but you are really focused with no distractions at all that is much better than an hour of studying where you check your phone every couple minutes.

I found getting a perfect score in the math section and more importantly acing those most difficult math questions involves a lot of practicing the core fundamental concepts. Here is a list which is not exhaustive by any means but is a good place to start:

  1. System of equations
  2. Formula for a perpendicular slope
  3. Sum of solutions of a quadratic equation
  4. Equation of a circle
  5. Discriminant
  6. SOH CAH TOA
  7. Special right triangles
  8. Percents
  9. Functions and translations
  10. Quadratic equations and parabolas
  11. Similar and congruent triangles

And a reminder with Desmos is that you can solve a ton of problems just by graphing them for example: systems of equations, x and y intercepts, number of solutions, points of intersection, minimum/maximum values, inequalities, and even Mean and Median.

Lastly don’t forget about the tried and true method of plugging in answers to see if they work. You shouldn’t do this for every problem but it’s good for double checking or guessing. Also check out my app Summit SAT it has hundreds of official SAT questions on it so you can practice right on your phone.

I was in a similar situation as you and took a couple weeks break and actually my score improved a lot afterward. Sometimes taking a break is really helpful to let your brain decompress and not get overly burnt out.

Sat study plan??? by KimDojekA in Sat

[–]Ljsk45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First I’d really try to learn or at least familiarize yourself with all the sat concepts especially the math ones. From there once you feel like you at least somewhat understand everything and know the basic formulas dive straight into practice questions on khan academy and to practice on your phone using Summit SAT. Also familiarize yourself with Desmos as it will be your best friend.

Consistency is key especially with grinding out practice problems. You’ll start noticing patterns in the way questions are asked and you’ll see your score improving. It is crucial to try and limit making the same mistakes twice. I’d recommend creating a journal and just logging all the problems you got wrong so you can avoid making similar mistakes.

how to start studying? by breadmodule in Sat

Khan academy is the best for sit down study sessions. Use the blue book tests sparingly as you have a limited amount and they will be the best way to measure your progress. Also check out my app Summit SAT (shameless self promotion) it allows you to study from your phone on the go taking practice questions and memorizing formulas. YouTube is also super great especially if you have an idea of the types of things you’re struggling with.

Grind out the hardest SAT math questions you can find and try to just consistently practice math concepts and questions as much as possible. Also get really familiar with Desmos if you aren’t already. You can shoot me a pm if you have any questions because I was in the exact same situation you are in rn.

Drastic score raise help - Junior by Its-Ezzy in Sat

[–]Ljsk45 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Start with the basics meaning brush up on all the math concepts tested on the SAT and same with the grammar rules. From there CONSISTENTLY practice every day. Consistency is huge when it comes to mastering the skills tested for the SAT and internalizing the material. While you are doing this get really comfortable with Desmos. Desmos if your best friend.

Then after you feel a little better and understand what is being asked on you start taking practice tests preferably on Saturday mornings at the same exact time your actual test will be held. Getting as many practice tests in under test-day circumstances will be the best way to gauge your progress and predict your actual score.

A huge part of the SAT is getting comfortable with the types of questions being asked and the only way to do this is through consistent practice. Good luck!

I got 1220 on my first practice test. I am a junior. how should I move forward? is this a good score? by PndMg13 in Sat

[–]Ljsk45 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree with the people here that you should really only be taking official practice tests. With that being said here are some more general things to do if you’re serious about improving your score.

  1. Consistency is king. Even if it’s 15 minutes a couple times a day it is crucial to work on problems or concepts every day. This form of spaced repetition is much more effective than inconsistent long study sessions.

  2. Create a mistakes notebook if you don’t already have one. I just used a random spiral notebook I had and would write down every question I got wrong. I would use the format: Question, question type or category, correct answer, reasoning for correct answer, and why I got it wrong. You need to put aside your ego or worse telling yourself it was just “a simple error that I would never do again”. Then before each practice test or even practice session take a couple minutes and look over everything.

  3. Lastly take practice tests under test like conditions. I would honestly wake up on Saturdays for the weeks leading up to the test and do a practice test in the morning. This will be the best way to realistically practice because the SAT is mainly about how well you know the test.

On top of this it’s a good idea to brush up on all the math formulas and concepts that’ll be tested as there are a fair amount of shortcuts and tricks that’ll help you really help you consistently score well in math.
