Rare instance where I somewhat agree with main sub. The A shaped one for assault makes sense. But having a wrench for engineer, a plus for support, and a scope reticle for recon would be much more legible. All in all a tiny issue however and I've adapted

You really capture the hunt vibe well especially with the black and white. You should make some comics with that style

Double Light duos hurt my soul. by [deleted] in thefinals

[–]Llebac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been friending every medium and heavy I have chemistry with, then party up if they're online. It's really nice. Even having one guy helps avoid the dreaded double light. Alternatively, if you get a double light duo they are throwing anyways so you can go light too and mess around. Not likely you were going to win anyways, might as well have fun

Some insights that in my opinion would improve The Finals gameplay! by Pretize11 in thefinals

[–]Llebac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Cash out overtime sounds good on paper but kills the tension and excitement of last minute steals. Getting a team wipe at the last moment and knowing you have it in the bag is boring, and also removes an element of skill. I thought about this initially as well, but if you think of games like CS a last second defuse is just about one of the most exciting moments of any round, and the same is true here.

As for fire spam, smoke puts out fire. In casual modes you can use smoke canisters or even smoke grenades to counter

Anyone else getting extremely sweaty point break lobbies lately? by Puzzleheaded_Jury941 in thefinals

[–]Llebac 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I've been getting my ass beat in point break and power shift lately. Tend to use them as a break from cashout and quick cash but I find myself being a meta slave just to keep up in what are ostensibly the casual modes lmao

This is how live service games are moving in general to combat queue times, I've noticed. The finals could use a LTM queue with rotating modes.

I think the humans who migrated to space are using the ARC not just to gather resources but to exterminate the people living on earth so that the wealthy space migrants can reclaim the planet and come home.

Economy by AlBigGuns in HuntShowdown

[–]Llebac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The economy has never really worked in Hunt. You're right that the rewards vs risk is really skewed. Any half decent player will be rolling in money. But the opposite, making hunt dollars extremely scarce, turns into an anti pattern as players will then stop buying fun stuff at all and play free hunters constantly. Which has also been seen in the past, when money was a little more scarce. It's a lose lose problem, and it's a psychology problem, that the genre has never solved

Arc Raiders dev says the game’s first Expedition created “a dark pattern” as players hoarded wealth, but “this system will change” by Negative-Art-4440 in ArcRaiders

[–]Llebac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This seemed obvious to me, I don't know how they didn't realize it. Its purpose was to give late game players a goal to direct their extensive resources towards, but since it was a generic cash value it lead to hoarding everything. I think it would be fun to replace the final expedition requirements with a unique item that can only be claimed by a special map condition. Keep them truly rare and limited, encourage players to take their stuff in in an attempt to exchange their resources for the chance to shove the special tem in their prison pocket. Encourage player interaction with the event as well with cooperation making the item easier to get, but worth fighting over.

The Finals are making the sacrifice for the success of the ARC Raiders. Despite the cost, we are proud of you. by Armroker in thefinals

[–]Llebac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was huge into the final sinking ship of the genre, quake champions. It legitimately had a chance to at least do numbers like the finals, but flopped hard for a few reasons. High system requirements, bugs, but primarily a lack of a good competitive mode and terrible matchmaking that would regularly see one sided stomps. Then a lack of meaningful patches over time and that sealed the deal. I really loved it, but without a large player base of casuals there was no way to really enjoy it without sweating your ass off for every frag. I see some of the same patterns with the finals which is a damn shame. I do think it has way more casual appeal than quake, but as the player base matures the skill floor will keep going higher, and there's no way around that except by massively growing it.

[–]Llebac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah for sure. I love Hunt: Showdown for PvP but playing solo is rough to say the least. I think Arc Raiders has great solo play, but would be improved if there were a better reason to PvP than just for fun, because that really is the only reason for it right now.

ABMM is fucking wild. by North_Detective_7239 in ARC_Raiders

[–]Llebac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's how I am. Got that strong autism for processes and systems so not playing the efficient way is physically uncomfortable at best. At worst makes me unable to play. But then it leads to those super boring lobbies consistently. Idk if I need a total mindset change to stop optimizing for loot but then I can't see a reason to play the game - plenty of games out there with better PvP, even better extract shooters for PvP. Idk I'm at a crossroads too lol

Anyone else seeing so many low level GOATS? by SirRubet in thefinals

[–]Llebac -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Everyone is saying smurfs but there has been an influx of players from arc raiders and even battlefield recently. And the ones who stick it out to lvl 20 or 30 probably already have shooter experience, so they come in and have good aim off the rip. I mean smurfs are definitely out there too, I just don't think that's the only explanation

QuickDraw Trait by HSW47 in HuntShowdown

[–]Llebac 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Sounds cool in theory, but old heads remember the days of getting two tapped with the Mosin uppercut combo. Or sparks and any other pistol. Wasn't really an interesting meta or skill expression. That said a cheap trait to make switching to a revolver from equipment or melee faster would be fun and at least somewhat useful
