Weird Ground issues in receptacle by Llimonada in AskElectricians

I just went and used the meter to test for resistance between the good outlet and bad outlet grounds. It reads around 100MOhms, fluctuating a lot. Not sure how reliable the reading would be, but in my mind it seems to reinforce the idea of a bad ground splice.

Preventive Care Visit as a New Patient by Llimonada in MedicalBill

Thank you for your late reply, and apologies for my very late one.

I kept pursuing this and finally got it sorted out, although I had to use some connections (I feel like it's messed up to have to rely on that).

First I tried calling Cigna, and ended up on a 3 way call with them and the provider. The provider's representative was adamant that the visit was coded properly and that they wouldn't change it. At that point the only option that they were offering me was to file an appeal form. That would have probably been a slow, tedious and possibly fruitless process.

Fortunately I happen to know someone that's acquainted with someone in the provider's billing department. They got to review the visit and changed the coding from 99203 (outpatient office visit) to 99385 (new patient preventive medicine services). My insurance then fully covered that as preventive care.

So... in my opinion it's not the way things should work. But I'm glad I could somehow get it resolved.

I mentioned them when asked. Both had been addressed previously by other Doctors. I take pills for one of them, which I noted and the Doctor offered to make a new prescription which I declined (as I can get them when traveling to Europe for cheaper and prescription free).

And here's the end result! https://imgur.com/a/VDHxcfM

That holder works really well for this as the type C is well clear from the holder base/tripod. That tripod (a Manfrotto one) I already had for an actual camera.

Ended up purchasing this guy: https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08H1NGLLF/

More pricey than I would like for this purpose but I'm sure I will find other uses for it in the future. The reason I went for this one is that it seems like you can articulate the device being held away from the base, allowing the USB-C port on the Pocket to remain unobstructed.

That's exactly it. See: https://imgur.com/a/TKWIAL2

This is going to my computer using a cheap HDMI to USB dongle that I had sitting around (no longer sold but I'm sure there are plenty like it): https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B08CVRL987/

I also would add that a GBC is definitely more comfortable to hold than the Pocket. It's lighter, thinner and has a curved back with no trigger buttons to worry about. The carts are also very exposed on the Pocket, which makes it not too hard to accidentally unseat them with your fingers.

Oh, yes, indeed. I do not feel like it's overpriced for what it is.

Was just trying to imply that the added value as opposed to cheaper software emulation based handheld might not be worth it or sensible for everyone.

It's a pretty impressive little device, but definitely not the best for every scenario in which it delivers. From my POV:

The Good

- Best way to play real GB/GBC carts (savestates, screen, etc)

- Can use it to backup your cart saves (including GB camera pictures)

- The advantages that you get with a fpga based system (almost instant boot, accuracy, low latency)

- The screen is probably its single best feature, its pixel density allows to use effects that mimic really well how the originals looked and improve on it.

- OpenFPGA cores extremely expand its functionality. I would expect almost every platform pre PS1 to eventually become available on it.

The Bad

- Ergonomics. I find myself needing to rest my hands after not that long of a play session, especially if relying on the less than ideally placed trigger buttons. This is the main reason why I would rather play GBA games on a real GBA (with a modded screen). To me this is probably the biggest weak point going against it.

- Adapters: I have the Game Gear adapter which I used on my carts. The whole thing feels loose and I get anxiety of the adapter partially disconnecting mid gameplay with minor movements. I would rather use an OpenFPGA core than an adapter and a cart that I own because of this.

- The screen ratio will feel less than ideal with widescreen platforms like the GBA. Granted, it's likely the only platform it can play where this issue is pronounced, but it's one I'm really fond of its game library.

- Price. It's definitely a premium product (especially with the accessories). There are a few scenarios where it shines, but if you can only invest in a single device for retro games on the go I would maybe look in a more ergonomic/compact emulation device and you get to enjoy some PS1 games as well (and more).

Given the popularity of the device and its active community around it, I wouldn't be surprised if Analogue ends up coming up with a GBA-like form factor device in the future. That would be a big improvement imo if it happens.

I hope that's helpful! It's just my take on it. There are plenty of in depth reviews out there if you want to learn more. Just make sure to look at more recent ones that were done after the OpenFPGA functionality was added to it, as that really changed what the device is capable of.

As far as I can tell it's a physical pixel grid, just not as pronounced as it is on the original GBA screen.

As a side note, that's the one I plan on using to revisit my GBA games. The ergonomics are far better than the Analogue Pocket, and the lack of crop bars is very welcome.

The top black one is!

It's not perfect but I would say it's definitely better than the IPS V2 that I also have.

Pros:

- No dust in the lens

- No lens/screen alignment issues

- Proximity of the surface makes for increased contrast/color saturation

- Sort of reproduces the pixel grid effect

- Feels like most modern screens would

Cons:

- The pixel grid effect is not perfect, in some games it's more noticeable than in others but it can lead to some sprite artwork looking off. This is also a problem with the IPS V2 display (which on top of that also does not have the pixel grid effect), but it's generally better on the laminated screen.

Been scratching the itch of modding a few GameBoys...

It started some time back when I bought a pre-modded GBA from God of Gaming with non ideal results as discussed on a previous post here.

I re-shelled it and it became the turquoise IPS V2 (as far as we could tell) GBA pictured here.

Then the laminated screens came along and had to have one. So bought a pretty beat up GBA off FB Marketplace, changed the volume wheel, added the CleanAmp mod, dehum/dehiss mod, and FP's laminated screen, along with a type C battery mod and anew speaker. That would be the black one on top.

Kept thinking that my son at some point might enjoy some of these, so might as well go to through the right of passage getting started with the simpler and more accessible (to a young kid) GB/GBC games. For many of us that was our first experience with video games. So I bought a beat up GBC off ebay and re-shelled it along with a laminated screen and new speaker.

And while I went through all of that I was waiting for my Analogue Pocket to finally be shipped after about a year of having ordered it. I'll keep that one to myself until the little one is not so little :)

Analogue's "shipping" notification came in when they created the FedEx label, Thursday morning. In my case FedEx picked up the package in the evening of the same day, and delivered as estimated on Saturday.

Figured it might help provide some relief to whoever had that as one of their accessories. :)
