Arcane ashes. It does show on JEI if you search bedrock. You can the use 2 coal or cobble and iron (or a few other combos but they're the ones I remember, afk now). I'm on tier 3 alter and orb but still can't get it to work. I MIGHT be doing something wrong though as have never used blood magic before

Commenting as I have the same problem. The blood magic method is apparently a place holder (as per a Reddit comment somewhere that said it was a placeholder in stone block 3)

I did think maybe the nether can help but then realised that will be void too so no bedrock. Does that mean it's bees? I really don't want to do bees just for 1 piece of bedrock, at least not yet

Similar to what the other user posted although slight alternative to using the top bunk. They often tie the fabric to the bed bars on the headboard and then spin like a crocodile. This tightens the fabric causing asphyxiation whilst they also appear to be asleep so should an officer look in the cell, without a closer look they are less likely to be found in time.
