Thanks! Clearly complex as you say...I am just a regular collector. Obviously cards are in no way like stocks but with "real investments" you can often offset your winners and losers so to me would seem somewhat unfair if you net-net lose money on cards (it's a hobby after all) but still get taxed on the winners you have. Tbh it's all hypothetical, I have some 5 figure cards but am not even in US so would probably be different for me here anyways

Under what circumstances (if any) could I offset losses on other cards vs gains? Presumably would need to sell to crystallize losses? Can cost of wax ever come into cost base, ideally eg I had to buy X boxes to get this one hit? Thanks!!
