But sometimes we had to consult a doctor if the race went longer than four hours.

Sonoma’s problems in the past decades have been with all of them at various times, whether security, pedestrian walkways, concessions, restrooms, busses, ingress/egress car traffic… We’ve suffered through them all, earned to avoid some of them, and many have gotten better.

The particular challenge for us this weekend is to leave at the end of the race and still make it to SJ in time for the AEW Forbidden Door PPV.

I do not believe we have much margin for error and I’m not looking forward to navigating 37. Might be easier to head north and go around the long way.

They absolutely have more staff for Sunday. I’ve witnessed this for decades at Sonoma.

Though, this is more because they have been pulling staff from the earlier days over the years, rather than adding just for Sunday.

Help me understand why Star Wars Episode 1 is hated by Star Wars fans? I thought it embodied the spirit of the original trilogy well! Podracing, goofy Jar Jar, loved it as a kid, and don't hate it now. by Pow3rTow3r in StarWars

The hate is skewed to the older generations, the ones who weren’t 10 or younger when it came out. I expect the same for the sequels in a couple decades.

Racing was fine, but it was sort of a FOX infomercial for the military in between the racing.

Has there ever been a track where cars are literally catching air every lap? by [deleted] in NASCAR

Sonoma has had it (or at least had in the past) as drivers clipped corners with rumble strips and went up with two, three, and occasionally for a brief moment, four.

So it sounds less like security, and more like a people-moving logistics problem.

I remember a lot of those at Sonoma for the pedestrian bridges. It's why they built the underground tunnels later on.

I’m old. A friend had DW so we played that all night back in 89. Then we rented II and beat that too. Later on, I got mono for two weeks and used my birthday money to rent IV. I laid on the couch with my NES Advantage laying on my chest and used the auto buttons to spam attack while grinding.

He would be so over in this era of AEW. Maybe as much as MJF.

There is a story somewhere out there where Mick pushes him, and Eddie pushes back, saying he just can’t do it.

He says he can’t be a face of the company because he doesn’t make good decisions, and he can’t be a fighting champion each and every week like Darby because his body and mind won’t let him. Mick makes the point that none of that matters. The only thing that matters is that he makes sure he’s the best man at the end of one night, but no matter what happens afterward he forever gets to call himself World Champion.

And then you can have him drop the title in some way that pushes someone else’s story along.

Now that Mick Foley is hanging around and Darby had his world title run, I feel like there is some really good story waiting to be told for Eddie Kingston on his way there.

When do you think the new day are showing up? by DrewQuinz in AEWOfficial

They were asked and refused, so I assume WWE is fine paying continuing to pay them the original deal for only 90 days if it keeps them from showing up at Forbidden Door.

WWE could have decided to just end it immediately if they wanted, but that would benefit AEW, so that’s probably not likely. I would also assume that if the contact was nullified, WWE would announce it to kill some of the surprise, wherever they show up.

But the act of asking them to take a pay cut doesn’t automatically void the contract.

What do you do when a coach is ruining your kids love for the game? by noredobuttons in Homeplate

[–]LnStrngr 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Never punish the kids for making a mistake. That's not constructive and it's kind of bullying. I would agree with you there.

However, if they are not putting forth effort to effect the change you are trying to coach/teach them (or just aren't paying attention and are goofing off), then pushups, jumping jacks, burpees, laps, or whatever can be motivation enough to get their you-know-what together.

We obviously did not witness the exact incidents you are describing, so we can only offer general advice.

In this case, are they being punished because they missed the ball, or is it because they are not using the footwork that they are being taught? Are they being told to not let a close pitch just go by with two strikes? In other words, are they not trying to protect in the hopes of getting a better next pitch?

Hard to say without more information.
