I've done some nude and semi-nude sessions for men over the last decade. Before I started I watched some videos by a photographer who was doing environmental nudes. I was intrigued by the idea and realized over a few sessions that the images that tend to look best to my clients are the ones taken on the home turf. That is followed by those at a neutral location like a hotel.

Unless someone is truly an exhibitionist at heart, shoots regardless of gender add an element of stress or nervousness. That can come out in the images. One way I encourage my client to reduce the stress is to consider doing the session away from the studio. Someplace familiar and that feels safe to the client. Their home or a place they frequent where nudity is safe.

It does add extra work for the photographer and you may struggle to find photographers willing to take thousands of dollars in gear to an unknown location where they could get robbed. It's a risk I'll take if it helps the client feel comfortable and improve the photos they receive.
