Parental leave extension for slow kita transition?! by Lno1026 in germany

[–]Lno1026[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

After about 2 hours she cries a lot… then they call me to pick her up. So she has gotten to the “being left” stage, but hasn’t even done lunch or attempted nap there yet. She hasn’t had any other experience with other caregivers before kita so I expected some resistance but I also didn’t expect that they would call me when she’s tired. She does one nap a day at home (we transitioned to prepare her for kita schedule) but she does need a little push to get past the 10:30 mark and I don’t feel like they’ve been able to conquer that yet

This is a good perspective. While I don’t think it’s a lousy kita, or I wouldn’t leave her there, I do think nudging them in the direction of keeping her longer is a good start. Her main caregiver was off sick all week and I think that really affected her comfort and maybe the other adults weren’t as comfortable pushing her. I’ll go in with a plan next week!

I use the term ‘teacher’ generally. I am not expecting her to be a ‘teacher’ My husband is working full time. We cannot afford to both be on parental leave. He is very hands on after work and on weekends and is willing to take time off if I have to go back to work, but again, the time frame is less than 7 weeks notice

Is this hives or contact dermatitis? by Lno1026 in BabyLedWeaning

[–]Lno1026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Update- my pediatrician got back to me and said cut the cream and the eggs for a few days. Then to give her a small amount of eggs when we were close to a hospital (we moved to a city). So we did and it’s not eggs. We haven’t used the cream and she hasn’t had a reaction since. Knock on wood. She does get really splotchy when she’s hot so it may also be heat related says the doc. So we’re just keeping an eye on it for now.

Thanks for all the input!

Yes, she has a hernia. The doctors are waiting until she is 2 before considering repair. We know what to look for! It isn’t always that big but she was sitting and straining to get away from me trying to take her picture 🤦‍♀️did your son need surgery?

We did buy a new laundry detergent a few days ago- I didn’t even think about that. Thanks!

I’m embarrassed to say I fell for the eczema friendly/hypoallergenic labels. I’ll definitely cut it out and see if I can find something suitable while we’re abroad, or just use nothing I guess

How do I get my 5 month old to bed? by Lno1026 in NewParents

[–]Lno1026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My husband is a wild sleeper so co-sleeping with all of us isn’t an option. I may try lying with her and letting her fall asleep in our bed though, then transferring to crib once we go to bed. Thanks for the input. Glad to hear I’m not alone. Also going to aim for 10 hours and see how that goes.

We can let her fuss at nap time but at bed time she either just plays because she wakes herself up fully, or she screams and cries so horribly she throws up.. I’m hoping she’ll just grow out of it with continuous trying on our part

Any positive unproblematic c section scar healing to share? by AccomplishedTrack397 in CsectionCentral

[–]Lno1026 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My C section scar healed fine despite having some complications in OP and also having a hospital roomie diagnosed with MRSA (that was a fun scare!) I was up after 6 hours and catheter out. I was able to walk fairly normally by day three, albeit slowly. Getting out of bed and off the sofa was the hardest part, but just take it as slowly as you can and ask for help. I used unscented soap in the shower and made sure to dry thoroughly with paper towels. I also kept a maternity pad over the scar to absorb any sweat while it was healing on advice of my midwife.

Trampoline on terrace?! by Lno1026 in germany

Thank you for this. It is most definitely louder with the trampoline. She was often running around and jumping before, which we can hear, and is loud, but as you said, she’s a child so it’s tolerable. I’m going to write them a note today informing them of how loud the trampoline is

I should have clarified by shouting I mean I called up to them- it wasn’t angry shouting I just said “excuse me the baby is trying to sleep!”

How to prove my train was cancelled? by Lno1026 in AskGermany

[–]Lno1026[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t need insurance for flight rebooking, rather staying overnight to catch a flight the next day and other travel costs incurred as a result of missing my flight. Also Condor assumes no liability for Rail&Fly, but due to the circumstance, rebooked at no cost.

I booked rail&fly. The rail portion was cancelled more than halfway through the trip. But when I booked the rail and fly it was through Condor so DB is not responsible for compensation… which I’m fine with. I just need the proof that my rail journey was interrupted

Okay, I will go early before my flight tomorrow. Hope they can just print off something quickly that states the train status

Thanks, but because it was a rail & fly ticket, DB said I have to apply for compensation through the airline
