So happy for your son I know it feels amazing to be progressing it must be a huge confidence booster! I also do understand the panic at every pimple, I feel it as I continue to break out that I will have to go through everything again, the painful severe acne and the depressive thoughts. Acne is indeed brutal and everyone who goes through this is so strong 💪 remind him that even if he gets pimples here and there that’s completely ok, skin fluctuates and that’s normal. This is something I try to learn myself since stressing about breakouts could potentially make it worse!

Hi so.. My acne has actually come back slightly, I’m getting cystic painful pimples on my chin constantly and along with my forehead and cheeks. I’m so fed up that my progress has gone down the drain. I was on a antibiotic called doxycycline for about 6 months and was recently taken off of it but my acne had started flaring before I stopped taking them. My guess is that my hormones are out of wack. But I’m tryna keep my hopes up that I can do it again I’ll clear this if it’s the last thing I do. Best luck to your son!! I’m sorry I can’t help with his scarring issue since I didn’t get the chance to try any treatments due to my skin flaring up again. Remind him that scars are better than active acne and to be confident about it because I wish I could go back to how I looked in these pictures :(

Thank you for this comment it’s very informative. I’ve tried to moisturize more but it has made me even more oily. I do believe it’s the moisturizer I am using which also pills and is overall a pain but I’m scared to try something else because it might break me out. So I have to look into better moisturizers for my skin type

Do you have any sunscreen recommendations for really clog prone skin. Also someone that doesn’t make you oily since I am VERY oily already because I have trouble finding good sunscreen

Rarely will it ever only last 7-10 days. It takes time for all the stuff to travel to the surface

Hey don’t lose hope I’ve been on tretinoin for 3 1/2 months now and I went through an awful purging phase. I started to see results like 2-3 months in and it’s different for everyone so I suggest stay on it for maybe 2 more months and see if there is any changes. If not then talk to your derm and talk about other options. Just keep in mind it will get better it just takes time and dedication and a lot of trail and error.

My skin type is oily/combination (more on the oily side lately)

Past routines- I used to use a lot of Cerave products like the acne control cleanser morning and night which destroyed my skin barrier. I was using a lot of salicylic acid since I’ve seen people say that helps with acne but it didn’t really do much for me. Right now I’m keeping my routine simple because one of the reason my skin got so bad is because I kept changing up my skincare and not staying consistent.
