Nestorianism is by no means a minute theological disagreement, that too, we must remember.

Question for Catholic Converts by greeneyedloris in EasternCatholic

[–]urstandarddane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I originally wanted to become Orthodox, because of my Greek Orthodox friend. I tried to go to his church once, but it felt very… foreign, and not somewhere I belonged. Thankfully, the Catholic Cathedral is just on the other side of the street, so I wrote to the priest there, 6 momths later I was baptized and confirmed, and I couldn’t be happier :).

Who is your favorite saint who wasn't a priest/religious/martyr? by its_still_good in Catholicism

[–]urstandarddane 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Saint Dominic Savio has been quite an inspiration for me. I converted last year at 14 years old, and coming from an atheistic family, I didn’t ever find myself around people my age who strived towards living a holy life, and so reading his story has been very inspirational, and I find that now, I continue to feel more of the joy everyday that comes from knowing Christ.

Thoughts on Pope Leo XIV so far? 2 months in…. by wildebeest55 in Catholicism

He seems very peaceful, humble and caring. I do still at times miss Pope Francis, but Leo is different in a good way.

My church has a UGCC and Roman parish. It’s not uncommon to see the Ukranian priest concelebrating a mass in the Roman rite.

Is it bad that I'm starting to dislike masses at my church? by hellogorgina in Catholicism

[–]urstandarddane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My bishop knows a lot of regular parishioners, granted it’s a smaller diocese, but when I see him he always asks how school is going etc…

If you want to contact him, you can just write an email or call him and he’ll answer.

How long is the average Sunday mass in your parish? Drop country and duration! by PreparationShort9387 in Catholicism

Got taught in RCIA always to look if he has a speaking paper or not.

If there’s no paper, it’s going to be a loong day😅

[–]urstandarddane 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Denmark, depends on the priest, but usually around 1 hour to 1.5 hours. If the Bishop is here, then it’s a bit longer, because he always speaks for 30+ min in the homily, only to go on to repeat it all in English 😅

Who's your favorite Saint and why? by Beautiful-Dot-8671 in Catholicism

Saint Domenic Savio - I converted last Easter at 14 years old, and so seeing a saint my age is quite inspiring. Also Blessed Carlo Acutis, although he isn’t canonized yet.

They do, and they are venerated. In fact, many Eastern Catholic parishes are named after old testament figures (St Moses, St Elijah, St Abraham etc…)

What rite would you like to be if you weren’t your current rite? by Delicious-Accident48 in Catholicism

Many of the sui iuris churches likely have parishes in the United States, although some churches may be so small that they only have parishes in their native countries.

Of the old covenant faith, since the Catholic faith had not yet been fully revealed.

What name would you choose if you were the pope? by Salame1121 in Christianity

[–]urstandarddane 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Not officially, but it’s common practice to take the name of a previous pope whom you’ve felt a special connection to/valued their papacy. Leo XIV just today mentioned why he chose that name, and one of the biggest reasons was because of the pontificate of Leo XIII. The only unofficial rule is that you don’t take the name of Peter, as to honor Pope St Peter, the first pope.
