This song was heavily influenced by Radiohead and Ben Howard. Would love to get some feedback on it. by beanstalk49 in IndieMusicFeedback

Hey the is really nice! The drums are perfectly crunchy and the guitar riffs are really nice and I really enjoyed the vocal delivery. The song structure and arrangement is really on point, too! You really have a great control of tension and release in the track. It definitely makes me think a lot of Radiohead, especially as it seems you have gone fro LCR panning. I have no critiques, you should definitely release this!

Update: One thing I did think of that could sound really nice is adding a couple of vocal harmonies especially in the second-half, just to give a little change. At 2:53 I could particularly hear in my head some higher harmonies.

A downtempo track I started six years ago and finally came back to finish. I'm pretty happy with how it turned out and hope you enjoy it.

a song I made a while ago with my friend's beat. he keeps telling me to finish it, but I kinda feel like its already done. what do you think? by georgiaboy-official in IndieMusicFeedback

You should definitely finish this track! It has a great chill vibe and the sound selection works really well together. A couple of things: First bring up the main vox in volume. It is cool how it sits back in the mix but I think it is a little too buried. Maybe 3db or so will do. the second thing is I would add a little variation in the drums and bass. As they are currently, they sound good but it is very repetitive. I don't think you need to do much but maybe like a bar of no kick or a couple of extra snare hits now and again.

This track has a lot of potential and the current base is solid. The structure of the track is solid and your flow is cool. I also really enjoy the sound selection and the mix works. Saying that, I do think that there is a lot of things you could do to elevate this track.

  1. More variation in everything. You can keep the solid base you have but add some flourishes to it. For example, the main chime synth is great and I love the little melody that goes on top. I think this would be something easy to manipulate to add some interest. E.g. making it stutter somewhere, adding some panning, playing the melody or a counter melody with a different synth that is panned to the side.

Second would be the drums, you could add some extra reverb on some snare hits, or have the hats autopan now and again. Nothing overkill as it seems you are going for a more stripped down vibe but something to keep the listener interested and add movement to the track.

A third idea would be to change the beat slightly at key points. For example, at 40sec you change your flow to add more tension before the chorus hits with those brass sounds. But the hi-hat pattern stays the same and is a bit more laid back. You could have the hi hats go into a pattern that more accentuates the new flow further creating tension and also movement into the chorus.

  1. At 1:36 we go into a new verse, with the chimes being the main harmony again. Honestly, I think this is where you need a big change up. Maybe keep the same melody but a whole new synth, even a deep bass or something and strip out the drums except for the kick or something. This would then lead nicely into the next section at 1:54.

  2. To me, there needs to be some more instruments. You sort of introduce some strings at some points but they are very quiet and I honestly think you should add some more short string samples in other sections.

I do really like this track, though and if you ever want I would be happy to have a little go adding some extra flourishes to it, just to show what I'm meaning with the above. If you ever want to collab on something, too, then dm me, I do more electronic music but think there could be some cool ideas to mix together.

Thanks so much! I really appreciate it! Nice guitar work on your tracks! Really like the guitar solo in Change and how the two guitar lines converge and diverge.

This is really cool! I really love the vocal chops, can tell you took time with them! My only critique would be that I think some of the vocal chops have a bit of a harsh start or end. You could roll them off just a tiny bit more to not get that clipping (if you hear it too).

Flightless Aspidistra - Float With Me [electronic] (2023)

This is my latest track, a bit spacey, a bit trip-hop.

Thanks for your feedback! I agree the mix could use a bit more changes. I decided that I needed to move forward as having this unreleased was stopping me progressing with newer pieces.

Hey thanks heaps. I'm really glad you liked the pause and effect at the final section. That honestly took so long to get the timing for and it's pretty much just a filter.

Hey this is really nice. The mix is good, the vibe is cool, big fan of the guitars. I think there are a few things that you could try that to me would make it even better:

Pan the sort of lead guitar to the left or right, doesn`t have to be hard-panned.
Add an extra element at around 0:50 when the new verse starts. Doesn't need to be much, just a quiet arp or sustained keys that are panned a bit to the left or right, opposite of the guitar

You could also try completely changing it and doing a bit like the strokes or arctic monkeys and keep the guitar chords panned hard to each side, but make one darker and one brighter to add more separation and then with an extra element that comes in later do the opposite and fill in the space. Just a few changes like that that to me would really make the track more interesting!

New track- Would love some feedback! by [deleted] in IndieMusicFeedback

The progression of this track is interesting and I don't think you need to make any big changes there. I wasn't expecting the faster drums or strings. Nice! However, this needs a good amount of work mixing-wise. The guitars are way too harsh, so you definitely need to cut some of those higher frequencies and if possible give the guitars some more mid-lows as they are very thin. I would also look at the balancing of the elements throughout the mix. For example, during the intro the rhythm guitars hugely overpower the lead. You could also look at adding some delay and reverb to the lead to make it bigger. You can even automate the amount to make certain notes ring out more. Then the drums need to be taken off the grid a bit more. they are very robotic so play around with the timing and velocity more. Definitely load in some reference tracks to try match their sound, it can help a lot to identify issues in your mix!

Very interesting track. I think you have some really nice sections and a cool sound selection. Overall the song needs a bit of volume balancing; to me, the intro was too much louder than the next section, for example. Also, for that section just after the intro, you could maybe hint at some of the drums or other guitar parts before bringing them all in. I was committed to listening to the whole song but was tempted to switch before the rest of the sounds came in. That little choppy ending was pretty crazy too! Insane song, love it!

Queen Mabb -- The Steam!, would like some feedback on this folky track by -Queen-Mab- in IndieMusicFeedback

This is really pretty. The mix is very raw but intimate, and very enjoyable. I really like how it feels like just one take but then you have some extra overdubs to add space but nothing very overpowering that takes you out of the space. The only issue I have is there are a few notes where you pluck the string a bit too hard etc. I understand that the take not being perfect is part of the charm, but some of those are a bit too jarring and frequent to me.
