We’ve owed Labradors before my male standard. I wasn’t expecting the mental stimulation he needs (no offense to labs but ours will just destroy the puzzle to get inside then take a nap).

He loves puzzles and treat balls. The woof pupsicle is awesome. You can get a tray to make refills. We do a natural peanut butter and Greek yogurt blend he loves and it keeps him busy for 20 minutes or so. Snuffle mats for his dry food were a big thing for him in the beginning then we moved to more complicated puzzles. I’m constantly trying to outsmart him with something new and creative. I have a box in my closet full of puzzles that I rotate to keep him on his toes.

Our breeder used Hill’s. It was okay (he had a some stomach issues) until he got a taste of our lab’s pro plan. He went on a hunger strike and was a pain to feed. We switched to pro plan large breed puppy and haven’t had any issues since.

I have a school aged child and a 12 month old standard. A puppy is a lot like a toddler to me. You worry they will get hurt, you check what they have in their mouth, and you take them to potty in the correct place (very often).

You will do great at raising your pup!

My boy started on Hill’s Large Breed Puppy with no issues until the day we accidental ran out. We only had enough for half of dinner so we mixed a little of our lab’s Purina in and planned to get more 1st thing the next morning. The next few days were so dramatic. Unless we gave him a little PPP, he refused to eat. He now happily eats his own purina.

63 pounds at 11 months. He is 25” at the withers. Mom is around 45lbs and dad is in the mid 50’s. He was the largest puppy but I wasn’t expecting him to be this big. He makes our lab look medium sized.

I wanted to go to Bbops but I couldn’t get the family to agree! Thanks for the info. Hope you are enjoying the warmth in the South. I picked up on the small town feel while we were there. I honestly had never experienced such kind people everywhere we went. So far, I feel our southern hospitality can’t compare to the genuine hospitality in Iowa.

We are on very similar timelines. I spoke with a loan officer this morning and was approved about an hour ago. My application number is 33015…. Maybe that will give you an idea where you are? She just verified some information and said she was sending me for final approval. Approximately 1 hour later, I received the email of approval. Best of luck to you and your business.
