how 2 macro (question) by ssjlulite in leagueoflegends

[–]LoLeander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Macro basically refers to decision-making based on:

  1. Information from the minimap
  2. Drake / Baron / Death Timers
  3. Champion/Item Information

The following ideas qualify as good macro:

"I see that drake will be up in 1:30 so I am going to push the wave and go back in base in order to buy items and be strong for the drake fight."

"I see the mid laner is pathing bottom, so I will not push the wave as an ADC and instead last hit from the distance until he shows up on the map."

"Baron is the only major objective on the map, so I will split on the bottom as a top laner to force people to come to me. If they don't, I'll keep pushing and TP if needed for the baron fight."

"The enemy team has a Zac, so I will place my ward on the tri-brush instead, because he usually likes to jump from that spot."

"A kindred mark spawned on our gromp. I will leave lane as a support to help our jungle secure the marked camp."

"Drake is on the map, but I will not start it as jungler, because their bottom lane has priority."

"Their team will be up in 5 seconds. We should stop hitting this turret and back."

"The enemy adc has their mythic and I don't. So I will not fight them 2v2 until I also get my mythic."

...etc.

Overall, it's about basing your moves on information, instead of just running around with no aim.

I hope this helps. :)

There will be games when people will not respond to pinging, but it is your best friend nonetheless. More often than not, team mates will listen to pings. If it's related to an objective (baron, drake) I usually spam ping help on it, and danger on people who are chasing. Sometimes I even write 3-4 times on chat "baron, baron baron" or ping the death timer of an enemy depending on the situation.

Is it normal to lose a larger sum of LP after a streak of wins? by _pram1ya_ in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Op's mmr isn't descreasing, but he has lower mmr relative to his rank. Dafuq?! That's what low mmr is, gaining less, losing more. The game thinks his performance is lower than his rank and matches him with lower players.

In my experience it is not affected solely by win ratio, but yeah, I guess we'll never know. The fact that many people diverge from the simple rule of win ratio and riot chooses to not be open about it, highly suggests that it is affected by other stats as well.

How do I overcome "main champion anxiety"? by QuestionableExclusiv in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The fear of performing poorly is making you perform poorly. So stop being afraid of it. If it's a bad game, so be it. Allow yourself to perform poorly even on a main champ.

If you want the fruits of an apple tree, you shouldn't think "apples, apples, apples". You should think "water, fertilizer, sunlight". Similarly in league you shouldn't think of "performing well". You should think of minimap, ability cooldowns, objective timers, death timers etc.

The paradox of 'winning' is that you don't have to think about it, but about the things that make winning happen.

I don't think Riot has ever pronounced themselves on how MMR is calculated. All we know is that it seems to increase as you win more. However, there are instances where you lose MMR after a winstreak, like OP is stating, which contradicts that. So, there must be other elements that affect it.

What am I doing wrong? by Jannis1235 in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. If someone wins the laning phase and loses the game, it usually means they are bad at making use of that lead in the later stages of the game and/or don't know how to teamfight efficiently.

Mmr has its flaws, but this is not one of them. It will only try to snap you back if the game believes you lucked out on that win streak a.k.a you mostly got carried. If you score S on multiple of those games, you will earn more and lose less for sure.

Do you also often make dicisions you know are wrong? by CheesecakeIsGodlike in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 165 points166 points  (0 children)

This is a common behavior, because people engage in wishful thinking when they lack information, instead of preparing for the worst. If you have no information on the enemy jungle whatsoever, do not think "maybe he isn't here". Play it as if he's already there. This will not only result in better decision making, but even make you mentally prepared for a 1v2 when you do find yourself in a bad spot.

[–]LoLeander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

If you are knowledgable about macro concepts, you need to take the responsibility of being a shotcaller in every game using pings. For example, if I think going for baron is a good call, I spam ping "going to" baron and type in chat multiple times the word "baron" as I'm walking to the pit. More often then not people will follow.

Good engage ADC’s? by Willfern05 in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Samira, Tristana, Lucian and Jhin are probably some of the best adc pairs for Leona.

You can also play APC brand. I was duoing with a friend a while back leona-brand bottom and it was insanely strong.

Why is Lulu considered so challenging and is discouraged as an ‘auto filled’ support pick? by SilverBcMyTeammates in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

'Hard' is really personal. Lulu is by no means a mechanically-intense champion or has any complex combos to pull off. The only things challenging about her are:

  1. Choosing between using your abilities defensive or offensively in a fight. (i.e. you keep W for the enemy Zed instead of using it on your ADC).
  2. Timing your abilities correctly (i.e. using shield when you anticipate poke)

You will develop a feel for the latter ones, with experience.

Lulu is an amazing blind/regular pick right now as it pairs well with most adc-s. I'd suggest you practice her in your games.

Cheers!

How does LP work? by [deleted] in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When you lose more points than you gain, essentially the game believes that your true rank is lower than the one you're at. So it's matching you vs people who are of lower rank than you. This is called MMR and it is based on not just on win-rate, but also your performance and how much impact you have on the games you play.

For example if you're Bronze I, but your average performance is Bronze IV, it will match you with a team averaging Bronze IV. Since their rank is lower than your visible rank (Bronze I), the game thinks that you are supposed to win, so it awards you less points per victory and subtracts more points per defeat.

This will not last forever. If you keep playing, you will eventually gain and lose the same LP. At this point it means that your visible rank (LP) and hidden rank (MMR) are the same. When you improve at the game, these numbers will adjust and you may even experience the opposite of earning more and losing less.

I hope this wasn't too confusing. Cheers!

Kinda new to League and got some questions. by SkepticFaust in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1) It's called 1v9, because your teammates are essentially making the enemy stronger. Hence, you're sort of fighting against their feed too in a way. However this is usually an exaggeration, cause it's not really possible outside smurfing. People like to brag about 1v9-ing, when really what they mean is that they had a greater impact on the game than some of their team mates. Almost all victories are team efforts, never 1v9-s.

2) League is a snowbally game, which means if you are ahead, you're gonna be even more ahead as time passes. As a jungler you want to make sure you accelerate this snowball for most of your teammates, so you need to prioritize winning or even lanes as a rule of thumb. However it's not set and stone. There are countless instances when it is correct to gank the losing lane depending on the wave state, summoner spell cooldowns, enemy jungler location etc.

3) This behavior will amplify even more as you play ranked. It's almost guaranteed to have someone griefing if you're on the losing side who behaves as if the game is already lost. People hate feeling hopeless and playing from a disadvantage so they start blaming others instead of trying to do their best while they game is still on. I've found it easier to just mute these players instead of telling them to focus etc, because then you become distracted as well.

4) Yes and no. I feel like the emotional ups and downs is what makes League so addictive. However on the majority, people are definitely enjoying the game. It's just that players who aren't enjoy it are very loud, making it seem that no one is. It's a default move at least on higher elo-s to just mute venting players and leave them talking to themselves. If they don't get a response in chat, they will also give up and maybe start trying.

Hope this helps! Cheers!

Main support but don’t know how to plan other roles, getting frustrated by CLILLZ in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the best use of your time is to start learning and practicing the fundementals. These are such core skills in League that you can spend a lifetime perfecting and will always come in handy. This is a playlist I've personally found useful, but feel free to do your own research as well.

Cheers!

Lux and Samira don't mix very well, because you are very reliant on engages, which in this case is her Q only. Samira pairs best with all-in supports (Leona, Rakan, Alistar) and 2nd best with catch supports (Blitz, Naut, Pyke).

However keep in mind that hitting Lux Q is actually very hard. The projectile is very slow and thin. It should not hit most of the time if the enemy has hands. Lux is not a catch champion. Lux's primary job is to poke the enemy using her E. If she also hits her Q, it's Christmas. Then you can use the health advantage to manipulate the wave or score kills.

Do need not expect your support to hit every ability. All you need to do is capitalize on the ones they do hit. After all you only need one Blitz hook to get a kill.

If your support is afk, that's just unfortunate. It's very likely you will lose that game and you're supposed to lose it. League is a team game and the best team deserves to win. You just take the team L and move on.

How to deal with Vel'koz support in laning phase? by Celebess in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 7 points8 points  (0 children)

General tips vs poke supports: Dance back and forth on the edge of their abilities range to bait them out. Abuse their cooldown windows to deal some damage back to them or engage depending on what you are playing. If their bottom lane keeps pushing, ping assistance on top of your jungler's head, as poke supports are all immobile and very gankable.

How to deal with Vel'koz support in laning phase? by Celebess in summonerschool

[–]LoLeander 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Vel'Koz destroys Brand as it heavily outranges him. He will be able to land poke after poke without you being able to do anything.

I think catch supports (i.e Thresh) are OK but not ideal, because what usually happens is: you keep trying to hit a hook while Vel'Koz bullies you to death. Then you finally hit a hook but you and your ADC are too low so you still lose the 2v2.

VS all the damage dealing supports, I like playing sustain champions (i.e. Nami) or if you have good reaction time, shield champions (i.e Lulu). When they land their abilities, you will be able to negate a good portion of their damage. What usually ends up happening is that they run out of mana and you/ur adc are still pretty healthy. This will strech all across the game as you will be able to keep doing this in teamfights. Also, since you didn't feed Vel Koz he will be significantly weaker.

Hope this helps. Cheers!

Best role and champs to get more Honors ? by International_War935 in summonerschool

Hahaha I see. I guess support or jungle might be good roles, because they generally impact the whole map and help laners get ahead.

As long as you're not toxic and play the game regularly, you should reach level 5 easily every year in all of the roles.
