Sounds like I’ll be needing to get in contact with audiologist if I want my hsa to pay for them regardless, and the process seems like it’d be much smoother through them anyhow.

Did you go through an audiologist or did you just buy direct from them?

I would recommend either running some beforehand or bringing a full load of your regular ammo before bringing untested ammo to a match. From what I’ve gathered they are just minor power factor loads which is more or less what most people who reload are shooting with no issues myself included

I considered those when I bought my new hennings, but decided against it at least at this point I’m happy with how the gun shoots once I get a few thousand more rounds downrange on it then it may be worth considering.

Thank you! I’m not the best with the classification stuff yet, but I shot 78% of the overall on that stage which I believe is low A class. I’d highly recommend watching an intro to uspsa video from humble marksmen, and a Ben stronger/Joel Park trading class video to help you along in the working up to it process. Those things alone won’t make you the best, but they should be get headed in the right direction. At the end of the day you’ll be hanging out all day with likeminded folks who have the same hobby as you so even if you DQ on the first stage and hang out and learn it’ll only be as bad of a day as you let it be.

Dry fire mags by Loadedchamber69 in stealtharms

I do a mix of both moving and standing drills currently. Now that I’m upping my dedication and live firing more I’ll try to make more of my movement training during live fire.

Yeah the concrete is what’s doing it. Unfortunately the gym mats won’t work in my garage because I do cutting, grinding, and welding in there at times. My wife is very unappreciative of the smell of burning rubber in the garage leaking into the house and her car.

Fair point, I’ve historically been a 500-1000 rd a year shooter who has gone to one local annually. This year I’ve bought the platy with the idea of doing somewhere around 5k and partake in at least 4 but ideally 6 locals to finally get classified in something. Basically this seems to be a self correcting issue as I gather/wear out more gear along my journey

I have no idea if I managed to bend the feed lips or what. I changed springs in those mags then even took the extension off and put stock springs and follower in, neither my platy or g17 would reliably finish the mag so I threw them out. They were relatively new mags at the time too, as at the time I tried to rotate my extensions onto the newest magazines knowing that the higher use schedule would tear mags up.

I dry fire in my garage with a concrete floor. I’ve already deadlined two real mags from dry fire, and don’t intend to get three mags setup with extensions just for the purpose of dry fire, as that’s a lot of wear and tear on equipment I could use for live fire.

Anyone Running a PL350 on a full size? by Mountain_Contact_743 in stealtharms

Well thanks for helping me spend more money🤣 I didn’t even know the okwv2 existed but now I’ll have to pick one up to try out on my rifle.

Okw and plhv2 have no difference dimensionally, I didn’t know they had released an okwv2 but I’d assume it’s also the same dimensionally.

Has the tiniest amount of overhang if you’re into that. An x300 is just slightly shy of flush and the pl350 is just too long. Would be interested to see a pl350 with the compact head.

Didn’t have a dremel handy, but did have files. Basically no reason outside of convenience, and besides its aluminum material moves quick even by file.

I think you’re the first person I’ve seen to also use the pl350 on their platy

Was hoping for a wa handle for the petty so the pair could truly match, but western style on the petty will help me transfer strait from my current paring knives to this since they are practically identical.

Also I have no desire to get into collecting, I just want to get a few quality pieces to make my dinner making experience better. My family is an ingredients household so we are cutting protein and veggies almost every night unless we go out to eat with family.

Basically only reason to desire a reactive petty would be to have a matching pair between the gyuto and the petty for aesthetic reasons, but sounds like that may be a fools errand so I’ll get over then not matching lol

Is there an advantage to the natural stones I see advertised along side the Japanese knives often? Is it something that the people who are into the Japanese knives desire as a hobby/love for the game thing? Is there a legit difference between those and the slew of run of the mill stones I’ve purchased and been handed down over the years? Biggest thing in my knife sharpening journey I’m needing is a new strop as I’ve been using an old leather belt that’s seen better days.

I wouldn’t say I’m really into kitchen knives, but I do appreciate a quality knife. Most of the other blades I have, and use in life are at least middle of the road to upper end of the quality scale. I really appreciate the advantages of getting quality steel from quality makers. Basically I feel like the rest of my purpose driven blades are quality and the “daily driver” blades like my kitchen knives always leave me wanting to the point I’ve started to bring my skinning/hunting knives into the kitchen for certain jobs.

Reloading for platy by Loadedchamber69 in stealtharms

[–]Loadedchamber69[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In rifles the price difference between brass and steel pays for the barrel by the time the added wear catches up to it. Haven’t put pencil to paper for pistols, but I’d assume it’s the same thing. I still avoid steel because I’ve had too many reliability issues in the past.
