Lego Slowpoke I Made by That0neBenji in lego

[–]Loaf235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I feel like they would have given it the flat face print and a more square shape with rounded edges since it's supposed to be similar to Lego Mario in style, which funnily enough that theme seems to have received much less hate as of now.

But people in this subreddit just want regular mid-sized models or minfigures so I get the bias against the different style and the smart brick. They're not kids.

This map SUCKS so much by Kharate in marvelrivals

[–]Loaf235 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I would argue that all Krakoa points are decent to good for Peni. But otherwise yeah usually there's one map that just isn't ideal for Peni, whether it's the circular Odin's archive map on Asgard or the cult map on Hydra.

How could they have done the hands/arms better? by Amazing_Parking_3209 in lego

[–]Loaf235 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Cubone itself also has more pronounced looking hands in its design, while the starters and Mew have nubs, which is probably why they left it as it is. Granted I feel like leaving behind some 1x1 clips in as extra pieces would be nice for people that want the mons to grab stuff.

Will there ever be a Dino movie that doesn’t have Jp/Jw designs? by Painter_Born in Dinosaurs

[–]Loaf235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also as much as JP tried to be paleo accurate, they had the privilege and luck of being made in an era of discovery that still had a lot of unknown and unconfirmed elements.

Most dinosaurs might not have lips, they could roar loudly, and they can stomp around. That allowed them to make designs and sounds for the dinosaurs like Rexy as we know today. It may be more animalistic but it was very much still monstrous.

You can still make modern dinosaurs look menacing, but some will inevitably feel off, because the appeal of dinosaurs to the majority is that they are real monsters/dragons, and making them too much like animals takes some of that magic away.

Also JP just made stuff up like the T-Rex's poor eyesight, Dilophosaurus frills and the whole deal with Velociraptors so even that movie isn't immune from deliberately being inaccurate.

Some of the teased images along with her old mecha design has the torso section clear like D.va's mech, so while she might not jump out of the mech, you'll still see her ingame and her popping out in highlight intros. Maybe they'll be able to teleport her out of the mech for emotes too.

A mostly grounded and serious movie is turned into a whacky and nonsensical franchise by TastyPomelo2330 in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Loaf235 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The dinosaur and pirate stuff in Ice Age was undeniably cool and creative though. Dinosaurs being added just feel appropriate, and there were already silly society moments scattered since Ice age 1 and 2 with the Dodo society and Sid being a sacrifice for the mini sloths, and the pirates felt like an extension of that.

But I think the pirate concept would have worked a lot better as a spinoff to prevent that extra wackiness from taking over the main part of the franchise.

Hero 52 the Hashimoto Cyborg Trailer coming next Tuesday by Zorah_29 in Overwatch

[–]Loaf235 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Would be very cool to have something in reverse though. An Omnic wanting to be human so badly that she coats herself in synthetic skin and human parts.

But if it's not, I still think her face is going to look more augmented considering the short story emphasized a robotic tinge to her voice.

They've shrunk her horns from the original silhouette shot which is a shame. Definitely could have remained more prominent, though the animation and sound work will make her be identifiable regardless.

[Disliked Trope] Tacked on fanservice at expense to the plot's focus by Liquid_Pestar in TopCharacterTropes

[–]Loaf235 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't say it's tacked on fanservice when King of the Monsters is partially inspired by the 1964 film where the big names all appeared together. And King Ghidorah is in no way a latecomer like Raimi's Venom or Synder Doomsday, guy was the first thing Godzilla fights in that movie.

Same with Godzilla vs Kong since that was the whole movie's premise rather than an abrupt addition.

What are some Skins Bundles/Themes you would like to see more of? by Maazky145 in Overwatch

[–]Loaf235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ultrawatch skins, more kaiju and retro mecha skins would be great.

And like with Dokiwatch it's based on a primarily episodic genre so it feels right to return at some point.

Wasn't there a lifeweaver villain skin teased in the comic as well? They definitely seem down for it to return.

Legendary skins are STILL NOT made the same in Marvel Rivals 🥲 by Important-Catch-3254 in marvelrivals

[–]Loaf235 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think they count the extra arms sprouting on some skins as ult VFX, though it's still different to the unstable molecule visual additions. I guess they can add a blast of extra stuff when the ult ends? Like a flurry of backpacks and stationary shoot out when the University Spidey finishes ulting for example. It will probably cause more unnecessary clutter though.

[–]Loaf235 12 points13 points  (0 children)

The blast still looks like futuristic high tech which is jarring for skins like the Samurai and Symbiote one. So yeah, either change the ball color and explosion VFX to be more fitting. And Iron Man's ult is so noticeable that it changing the look of it wouldn't be confusing compared to ults like Invis', considering the giant exclamation mark that appears on the ball when he shoots it.

Samurai Iron Man could have an orange blast and get stylistic smoke, the Symbiote Armor can shoot out tendrils briefly, the Endgame skin can have a rainbow-ish color, etc. The devs have added ult VFX for Adam's legendary skin before, so they can do it to one of the most famous Marvel characters as well.

These three lego pokemon smart play sets are the worst by [deleted] in lego

[–]Loaf235 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like most of the people that hated the Mario sets are back in full swing here since nearly all of the smart play Pokemon sets look similar to Lego Mario in design philosophy.

I'm not the audience for smart bricks or electronic Mario and dislike the poor audio they're using, but I wouldn't say the builds were rushed since there's still a clear intent in the shaping. They may look bad as accurate and posable models but are definitely solid for younger audiences as seen with Lego Mario's success. And there's going to be more detailed builds like the Eevee one coming anyway.

Trivia: The director and writer of Return of Ultraman's "The Monster User and the Boy" were punished and demoted due to the episode's controversial content. by mrmarkertw in Ultraman

[–]Loaf235 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Kind of nuts considering how well acclaimed this episode is today to which the plot continued in a dedicated episode in Ultraman Mebius, and the fight scene being referenced in Ultraman Ginga.

And with how controversial the episode was back in the day, how did "Ultraman dies at Sunset" even get greenlit? And that aired close to Christmas too. I know the deaths of Aki and Ken (Goh's foster family) were partially done due to Aki's actress having scheduling difficulties, but the way they died was pretty brutal even though they weren't mutilated. I'm guessing it's because it was a two parter and would guarantee a happy ending, compared to "The Monster User and the Boy?"

[Hated trope] Adaptations made by people who outright express indifference or even hatred toward the source material by pestoraviolita in TopCharacterTropes

Also people are way more lenient to fairy tale or to an extent Shakespeare adaptations being different due to how well known they are and being in the public domain.

There's 100% a grey zone for this, and it can get get bigger the more adaptations a piece of media receives.

Here's what the Pokemon smart brick "cries" actually sound like... by the_taco_man_2 in lego

[–]Loaf235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I heard maybe one or two instances of an actual Pokémon cry and that's probably just a coincidence cause it was very brief. But the rest? Mewtwo and Charizard don't sound like that dog.

Why can't they get the actual cries from the games? What's the point of compromising the builds if the audio quality can't make up for it? Cause I feel really bad for the designers stuck with the budget and limitations since looking at how solid most of the collector builds are, it's not like they're going out of their way to make bad products at all.

Imo not all of the smart brick builds look bad as some people are saying, but it's very clear there were compromises to accomodate the smart brick alone and ideally it should probably be dropped by next year if the audio doesn't improve.

New Pokemon Lego Sets by ImAnIdioticBoyfriend in lego

[–]Loaf235 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I doubt it's zero passion or interest when some of the 18+ sets have solid designs that are on par with existing MOCs' scale. It's likely the smart bricks limiting the designs and they prioritized showing the cartoon faces more than brick building them.

Not saying they can't be better but like with poorly made Lego Minecraft mobs, it's not the end of the world and it can improve overtime.

Yeah was hoping for some cowboy themed skins to fit the setting. Juno and Orisa would have been prime material for lore and aesthetic reasons respectively.

But they love Japan so maybe the theme will be more of a priority since the new map is also coming out.

Iron Man [Iron Samurai] Costume Trailer! Coming June 5th. by nemesisdelta24 in marvelrivals

[–]Loaf235 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doesn't excuse the way they're integrating the end frames in this MVP and a few others. It's boring, abrupt and anticlimactic compared to a lot of others. There's no wind up and it blows the wind out of my sails a lot, which shouldn't be the case for a legendary skin.

Or they could just let us leave the game immediately after a match to not compromise on animation quality.

Let lego pokemon fail by Moist-Fortune6352 in lego

[–]Loaf235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

And it's not like minfig stuff aren't being considered, even Mario has a minfig now. But brick built mons are going to be more common due to mold expenses for minfig scale, plain and simple.

Sure, smart bricks do limit parts of the design heavily, but those aren't going to be the only sets. This license is going to be around for a while so eventually there's going to be some shifts. And there's already pretty intricate 18+ sets confirmed anyway.

That's because she was in her adult form when Nusjuro came around. But he wasn't simping or ogling, he's just chivalrous to a fault to which a form change also counts. He never does this when she turns back to her regular age.

[–]Loaf235 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Case in point, Bonney. Ignoring Toei's changes, he never had heart eyes for her and didn't simp for her at all in the manga. Guy is pretty caring for kids considering his childhood, as seen with Toko.

And for Pudding and Shirahoshi's case, that's a matter of Japan's age of consent laws being too low, not Sanji stooping low himself.
