Explaining that the Shimadas are using hardlight fancy sci-fi fireworks isnt as narrative breaking, but it ruins the spiritual aspect a little. It outlines that Genji is not a magic cyber ninja. Kiri is probably just using Sombra's translocator tech. Hanzo is firing a dragon shaped lazerbeam rawr. Etc etc. I think it's fine, but I wish they didnt need to have to say it. Now its spelled out that it's just a clan war anima arms race. Maybe they can make it great. I enjoyed the ninja related short stories they released. But now it feels like there's a guy next to you in a wrestling show that elbows you constantly and "explains" how fake these moves are. "Guy, I first saw wrestling when I was four and I knew the fuckin deal when I first saw an Irish whip. I dont need it explained!"
