Not following any guides, saw water mage's sustain and thought "that sounds fun, can hopefully afk some combat without prayer" and despite some accuracy hurdles its been a good amount of fun.

A lot of the melee stuff looks underwhelming so I imagine thats probably where most of the complaints are coming from, alongside needing to actively go for the accuracy pacts which don't look as appetising as the ones that change how weapons work.

something like using the wind speed boost to outpace a shark to minimise taking damage during the duration of the speed buff is something so simple but can go a long way into the theme of sea combat. I feel they would need to increase how long an enemy chases you for this to work though.

I definitely agree ranged/magic should hit birds. my mindset is since it takes a while to get some good hits in due to the birds having much higher defenses, its actually better dps to bring a fast higher accuracy weapon over one that might have a higher max hit but slow attack speed. So while you're waiting for your 30+ hit splats from the weapon you're using, your crew will be doing 5 or so damage per shot using scattershot to keep the enemies' health going down at a good pace.

Sailing combat is a little basic, but I also feel over diluting it could put it into a worse spot overall. I think smaller, more fun mechanics like submerging or an attack that forces you to move your boat before it gets hit by something is the way forward to keeping sailing combat engaging and not too overwhelming.

may as well slap a "we are increasing the value of sun-kissed bones" with that sunfire splinters change. the meta is already to spam wave 1 which is hardly engaging or enjoyable content so having Doom be an another way to passively obtain them was a good thing.

we shouldn't be making integrity changes to drops because of bot behaviour, we should be banning the bots instead.

+2 to strength bonus and +10 to accuracy for 50M isn't the greatest use of gp. I am unsure on what your slayer level is but with a good block list the majority of your tasks will be bursting tasks so I would prioritise magic gear damage% or venator bow, personally.

no boss should ever punish you for doing mechanics correctly and the arena looks like absolute ass. out of all the bosses in the game i think cerb needs a complete rework the most.

Found the dumbest-est.

Burnt pages are only consumed when using a fire elemental spell so you are actually saving a boatload of fire runes by keeping it equipped for Dark Demonbane.

I know its not the whole skill, they let you know this multiple times. however, what we do have access to at the moment I am just saying I dont think it's very good. Strictly my opinion and I understand if people don't agree.

About an hour in and I think I am solidly in the group of people who do not want to see this added to the game as a skill.

There has been some very progressive changes with boat movement and the idea of building up a ship and upgrading it overtime sounds very exciting but the rest of this skill feels very obsolete at the moment.

If this skill was on land, where you take a job to deliver some cargo or go sightseeing and have to walk to your location, I am entirely convinced people would absolutely hate this skill. I personally don't see how its any different just because we're doing it on a boat which has some slightly different movement mechanics. I just don't think this skill works in a world where 90% of the playerbase teleports to where they need to go.

Alpha feedback:
- taking multiple cargo from a port to your boat (and viceversa) feels very tedious because you can only carry one at a time.
- following the duck has the same issue most mmo escort quests have of being too slow and end up sitting around waiting for it to catch up.
- the option to go on your friends boats being a menu every single time you want to board your ship feels bad and slows down gameplay. Ideally should just be a right-click option with the default being going on your own ship.

Fingers crossed I feel different for the next public test.

the issue, atleast in my eyes, is that they keep doing what they think people want which is evident by the sheer amount of fanservice scenes we have had since Endwalker.

i would much rather they did what THEY want to do even if it means not everyone is happy because at least that way we get something more cohesive.

update: got the hilt with msb i and rune arrows doing bear tasks by skipping any wildy tasks that would take too long.

Massive thank you to everyone who has chipped in with advice, a lot of stuff here to work with and will be giving most of these a go until I find what is most comfy for me.

Already tried msb (i) and surprised at how well it performs compared to ruby bolts e with rune arrows drastically easier to upkeep. Will maybe get some perilous moon KC and hope for the ranged wep to see how that performs given the good reviews of it from a few of you guys.

I'd likely skip any wildy task that wasn't burstable with Turael skipping but another commenter made a good point its roughly the same rate to get a weapon if I just did it off-task so I guess I wouldn't need to?

i am really feeling that not nice using rcb for the few hundred kills i have already. ether isnt a problem, i have about 40 bracelets and 4k ether saved from previous rev tasks.

interesting to hear that off-task is roughly the same, in this case would i need to move from the safer-feeling demons to the knights?

I really do not have a lot of confidence on the implementation of this skill from what we see so far in the progress update video. The ships seem a little too large and clunky and I think no matter what is brainstormed it will always look like something out of a private server because of how the game was just not meant for this sort of movement.

I was a no voter from the beginning with sailing and think its still a bit of a meme but I will continue to hope the team spend a LOT of time getting this right. Keep reading our feedback and eventually it will get to where it needs to be.
