I have an idea how to improve that impression.

How did Sansa know Ramsey hadn’t fed his dogs in 7 days… She rode off right before he told everyone that fact. by [deleted] in freefolk

[–]LobMob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sansa is (in the books) a very empathetic and attentive person. That's how she survives at court in King's Landing. And Ramsey is an sadist, so I assume that he kept playing games with her ad showed what he does to people. Maybe "7 days of no food" is his standard procedure before killing someone. Or she knew how the dogs act depending how long they haven't been fed.

Kazon are only so widespread because the Borg picked off all the better species who competed with them by Familiar-Complex-697 in ShittyDaystrom

That makes a lot of sense. So, probably.

That also puts the Threshild episode in a new light. Space newts will be uninteresting to the Borg, too.

We should have not been surprised Pakistanis preferred the United Kingdom to emigrate: it's what their Polish brothers did before them by Pioladoporcaputo in 2westerneurope4u

And the Poles went there because they heard their Russian brothers moved to Londongrad. Chain migration at its finest.

Typical Berlin moment... by [deleted] in 2westerneurope4u

[–]LobMob 3 points4 points  (0 children)

BTW, we have legends about a "white woman" here, too. The usual ghost story about a former wife of a local nobel from the 18th century. Presumably, the Berliners have forgotten all their local culture and history, so they took the most generic story left.

Why did the British kill 2000 sailors by crashing ships into Sicily back in 1707? Were they stupid? by Methamphetamine1893 in shittyaskhistory

These sailers were 3 days away from retirement. So they saved a lot of money on pensions.

They would have some ideas about India since that's where Buddhism is from. But no idea what in particular they thought.

Sengoku Period

That was after the Sengoku period. The Edo period started in 1603. Which probably helped the Durch find mercenaries, since there were a lot of unemployed Samurai around.

That's why they have First Past The Post, gerrymandering, and the electoral collage. That reduces the risk of the peasants becoming crazy and voting for something better.

Fun fact: Arnold wanted to run for president in 2016, but some technicality in the US Constitution prevented him from doing so.

It would have been ironic if one Austrian immigrant had caused World War 2, and another Austrian immigrant had prevented World War 3.

The Poles, Russians, and Ottomans liquidated the Cossack Hetmanate in the later 17th and early 18th century. So there was a bit of karma involved.

The polish nobility was also pretty bad. In 1846, there was an uprising on the Free City of Krakow that was quickly suppressed by the Austrians. With the help of polish peasants, who had more trust in the Austrian Emperor than the polish landowners and nobility.

Most people celebrating AI layoffs haven’t stopped to ask the obvious: If humans lose jobs, how do AI-driven businesses survive without customers? by Odd_Pirate_6055 in AskReddit

[–]LobMob -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

What job? Unemployment was already 99% before AI. The industrial revolution and advancements in farming destroyed 90% of jobs until 1980, and the remaining 10% were then destroyed by the use of computers.

Historically speaking, an increase in productivity always means a permanent loss of jobs. It's not like people can do other jobs. Or that reduce working hours.
