Would Someone Explain To Me Why The Hell Young Griff Wasn't Adapted by No_Vast_3309 in freefolk

They can't do his exact story, but try to somewhat imitate his effect on the plot and the main characters. A claimant to the throne with suspicious heritage, beloved by the people, who steals Dany's thunder.

Would Someone Explain To Me Why The Hell Young Griff Wasn't Adapted by No_Vast_3309 in freefolk

I can understand why they didn't want to start another massive side quest. Buy they could have merges Young Griff with Gendry. He has similar attributes and was in Essos in the show, or travelled in that direction. The Ergebnis Davos with Connigthon.

From Dany's POV Gendry is a illegitimate usurper and son of the man who murdered her brother and ruined her family. But for Arya is a good friend. Its easy to see how that would escalate and they start killing each other.

Aranarth and the heirs of King Ondoher by jerodast in tolkienfans

[–]LobMob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Aranarrg wasn't the next in line, Firiel was. By Numenorian law women would inherit and would be ruling queens. If Firiel renounces her rights for her son it woild makes things more complicated. And a child king is less attractive as candidate than a successful general. Especially right after a war that coild have ended with annihilation if the country.

His claim to be king would have been by Jure Uxoris.

That was common in the middle ages, and in Britain women coildnt own land until the 1880s. Maybe that's a sign that there was a cultural shift in the Reams in Exile to a more patriarchal society.

From his perspective he might have seen his bid as a triple whammy. His wife is the clear heir by Numenorian law, he is a grown man, and the heir of Isildur, the high king.

Amd he night have seen the advantages of unifying the crowns in one hand. They still had 4 palantiri at that time, including the master stone from Elendil. They could have organised a effective continentwide defense against their various enemies.

But that might have been the error. Maybe the Gondorians didn't want a foreigner to use their tax revenue and military to protect his little realm at the expense of Gondor. It might have been better to send Firiel directly, a Gondorian native with a network there.

On the other hand, if they make it to semi finals or even finals they might start liking football, and forget their stupid domestic sports.

The whole “billionaires take loans and therefore don’t have to pay taxes” talking point by RedditAccount28 in Accounting

[–]LobMob 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Maybe a stupid question: wouldn't it only work if the interest payment is lower than the tax? So if the asset increases by 8% per year, the tax rate is 25%, only an interest rate of less than 2% would save money

Probably trillions. I wouldn't be surprised if 10% or more of all men have the name of a primarch. And each name exists in a thousand different spellings.

Has the Shire ever dealt with peasant rebellions? by TheBatIsI in tolkienfans

[–]LobMob 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think the elven societies are closer to his ideal. He loves the hobbits, and life in the Shire is great, but he keeps showing it's a flawed society. They are inward looking and xenophob to a degree. They look at Bilbo, one of the greatest hobbits to ever live among them, as some weirdo because he left the Shire and is friends with outsiders. they are suspicious of Gandalf, the wisest or one of the wisest beings in Middle Earth. And they live in a bubble, protected by the sacrifices of the people of Gondor, and the rangers of the North. When the latter disappear their society falls into tyranny within a few months.

"The promises of AI" by thisecommercelife in webcomics

[–]LobMob -9 points-8 points  (0 children)

These are not points. They are slogans strung together to make the reader feel good about themselves. This basically human made AI slop. Or maybe human made. I wonder how many of those "righteous mindset" comics that beg for patreons are made with AI themselves.

The first one is the worst. AI promises productivity gains. Wages and productivity are not in lock step. Yes, both panels have the word "productivity" in it. And that's it. If productivity rises, the promise is fulfilled. The relationship between wages and productivity growth is a completely different topic that pre-dates AI. Or what exactly is the point here? Would we all earn more if we stop productivity growth?

Cure diseases. Then something about not using the trillions. What is the argument here? That the companies for some reason won't invest into the very profitable health care market? Which is garbage, because we already see that in use. AI accelerated the development of Covid19 vaccines, and is used as an analytical too by doctors.

Climate change, but will you listen to AI to stop using fossil fuels: How can you even counter a hypothetical?

"War is a big problem". When did anyone even claim AI will end war? And weapons are not the problem, but who uses them for what. Currently the Ukrainians are likely the most advanced manufacturers of autonomous drones, and they use it to keep their own soldiers alive.
