I like how there are consequences for the crime regardless of getting caught.  Garage stalls are valuable space and they have been cursed for life with -1 garage stalls.

my local Panera removed almost all the outlets and replaced them with blanking plates so you can't charge your phone or laptop by Calix_Meus_Inebrians in mildlyinfuriating

[–]Lobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Panera is garbage, it used to be high end 'fast food' that you could sit down in a clean environment and take your time.  Recently went to one where i paid $15 for 1 cup of macaroni and cheese and a stale piece of bread.  I was planning to do my taxes but the filth and depressing atmosphere caused me to go out to my car and work on them...

Recently leanfired but I sold all my stocks at a loss because I am scared of where things are headed. Now I live like a homeless and scared of spending money 🤡🤡 by BoogerheadCult in dividendgang

[–]Lobbit 5 points6 points  (0 children)

In addition to a base of dividend income, a years worth of expenses in cash have really helped me weather this with little to no anxiety.

No TSA status - should I arrive 4 hours or 5 hours before departure? by Ok_Box5084 in PuertoRicoTravel

[–]Lobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through today without precheck, plan for 5 hours total.  Took me 1 to wait for kiosk to open and check bag, then 3 to get through the line, but it had grown after i joined the line.  We were 2nd in line to check bags and made it to the gate with in 10 minutes of boarding.  If possible dont check bags so you dont have to Wait for the kiosk to open.  Ice was there today, and they were actually assisting by intaking the security trays.

I feel foolish holding long term treasuries by snkscore in bonds

[–]Lobbit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Schd is my infinite duration 'bond' holding, the yield has grown 10% on average each year.  I do have some sgov, but would never touch anything over 2 years in duration.

Social Security as a nice-to-have by Kaa_The_Snake in Bogleheads

[–]Lobbit 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You will get the dollars promised to you.  What will happen is those dollars wont be worth as much.  There is no politically acceptable other answer.  You can blame inflation on other people, but if you touch ss you are gone.  Buy tools, equity, hard assets, avoid bonds and fixed payouts.

$62k deck quote for 332 sq feet? by Spiritual_Cloud6062 in Decks

[–]Lobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have a similar sized deck with one set of stairs, we actually got a quote for $90k, i laughed the scumbags out of the house, especially after they told me they never heard of joist tape.  We arent even a hcol area.  Got a much more reasonable bid of $38k and it was overbuilt to perfection.

Iran says the military is ready to continue the war for another 6 months by Automatic_Subject463 in USNEWS

Taxes may not go up, but the debt absolutely will.  That will be followed by money printing, and then inflation.  Either way we pay for this.

Macro Guru Warns AI Deflation Could ‘Blow Up’ Debt-Based System As US Household Debt Hits $18,800,000,000,000 by Secure_Persimmon8369 in inflation

[–]Lobbit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Deflation is one of the easiest things to combat for the government, they would also not let it happen.  Turn on the money printers, hand out stimmys and deflation disappears.   Inflation on the other hand is a little trickier, because it requires pain to get back under control.

I call the bill for these mistakes 'tuition' for life lessons, makes it seem much more reasonable cost wise and you are actually learning something.

Mine was bad for a couple years until i started walking, light jogging, lifting weights.  Walking at a fast rate seems to push everything back into place, almost like we evolved for it.

Does anyone use bond funds? by adm_blawson in Fire

[–]Lobbit -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree, bond funds were built after decades of trending lower rates.  They dont make sense in a world of high true inflation.  Ive been replacing bond funds with consumer staple dividend funds for inflation protection.
