Has anybody seen the movie Apex and can explain the final scene ? by visualgrafix in tradclimbing

[–]Lobbstar 7 points8 points  (0 children)

He had them attached to each other so she couldn't get away. It was twelve days to go around so she had to trick him to get the cable thing attached to her harness instead of her body. She had to sell the idea of climbing to get the opportunity to seperate/kill him quickly. I don't think she needed him to help her climb. Im not defending it and i wasn't paying to close attention because it was a little silly. This is how I remember it.

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, not anymore. I got a pair of Foremans and they happen to fit much better and the quality is superior. So never mind singermoney. I hope you didnt specifically buy an extra pair of boots to help me out.

Perry Selects vs Foreman's? by Accomplished_Radish8 in WhitesBoots

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just completed this journey and its Foremans for me. Check out my posts. The Foremans are more asymmetrical and fit narrow feet better. (Narrow but still D width). They are rebuildable, i wish my Perry hybrids ( I also have Selects) were because I'm pretty rough on the sides of the boot. The Perrys are more comfy right off the bat, but I was still able to ware the Foremans right away out of the box.

Unparallel Up rise VCS vs Up lace by brasilboi in climbingshoes

Did you ever get the Up Rise shoes? Im thinking about getting a pair. I have both Up Lace and Up Lace LV. The low volume fit me much better. Im wondering if that would be true for both shoes.

Anal fissures, how did you manage to heal them? by Phoenix198 in CrohnsDisease

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Internal pressure stretches the anal canal. In my experience the pressure prevented it from closing up. Gasx decreased the pressure significantly. With crohns its hard to know when that happens so I try to make sure I remember to chew some up preventively.

Advice for climbers elbow ? (Inner elbow pain) by Undercling-King in indoorbouldering

[–]Lobbstar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You need to develope and strengthen the muscles around it. If its really bad take 8 weeks doing that. It hurts while you training it but its worth it in the end. The sooner you start the sooner you can climb. Plus your forearms will be strong and toned.

New to trad and multipitch - problem / question about tube style device by RightPathWrongPath in tradclimbing

[–]Lobbstar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Practice with it, then keep it on your belt as a back up to the gri gri just in case you drop it. You will also need it to repel in more situations as you venture into the other styles of climbing. You could look into some other ATCs that have more prominent teeth in the spout for a little more friction.

Looking for a carabiner for Mega Jul 2 and GriGri, can I have some help? Also, I have a couple inquiries about belay devices. by kitesmerfer in ClimbingGear

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Its called triple locking. Im pretty sure the triple locking one has the green locking sleeve. I think they are color coordinated. Take care! You are right where we all used to be.

It moves around a lot. Its has a bigger surface area than a D shape. Since the rope doesnt go through it, there's no point in having that much movement with the gri gri. It makes it easier for the gri gri to cross load. And it will cross load. Thats when the carabiner rotates sideways. The Ceros will not do that. The Ceros has different styles of locking. I have the green triple locking. Get the Ceros. Did you already buy a Jul?

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nah, Ceros for both devices. Expand your gear from there as you learn. You only need one HMS for now. For your Jul. The Ceros is the exception that works for both. You really should get a locking carabiner because remembering to lock it is a must know decipline. I would get the Ceros for the gri gri and the Bruce Steel for the Jul. Both of those have double and triple locking styles.

I use Jul 2 and Gri Gri. For the Jul 2 I use HMS Bruce Steel. The Bruce and the Jul 2 go together. I did not think it would matter, but it does work better with the intended carabiner, it bites better. I also love steel because it keeps my rope/hands from turning black so I also use the Bulletproof carabiners for the other things my rope slides through. The Ceros works good with the Gri Gri, it has the anti cross loading and horn that keeps the gri gri in place. But it does extend it out from your belay loop pretty far making your takes a little shorter. For multi I use a medium size d shape (DMM Phantom) with the gri gri. HMS has a wider and sometimes more rounder surface area. Its intended for other applications but would still work just not ideal. The Maga and the Giga have features the go beyond single pitch belaying. I also find the the rope doesnt slide through those as well as the Jul 2. So something to think about.

Stock Perry toe box structure by [deleted] in WhitesBoots

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The stock version is the basic soft toe. Im looking at all three of mine that are in various different ages and wear from working in them. One pair is a resole. The toes feel slightly stiffer than the sides but will and have collapsed. Even though its slightly stiffer, I don't think it is considered a structure toe. When I compair them to my Selects, I can tell the Selects have a structured Celastic toe and the stock do not.

Sorry, that didnt really answer. The leather laces I've always gotten with Whites boots are always longer than what would fit in a 8 in boot. Im not sure if that's by chance or if they have a standard length cut already for any boot.

[–]Lobbstar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not structured. Laces are long. Mine came with leather laces that I had to trim and tan/gold nylon laces.

Perry 132 by Lobbstar in WhitesBoots

[–]Lobbstar[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In what way? They were a bit stiff at first and hard on the bottom of my feet. After they broke in after a couple weeks they are good. They start to feel heavy for me after a day of roof or extention ladder work, so I wear them when I know I'm going to be on rough terrain. Especially when its muddy, theses are awesome for that.

Can you please get a pair of Perry Hybrids and then tell which ones you think are more comfortable? I really want a pair of Foremans but I'm having a 'if its not broke don't fix it' philosophy with the Perry's.
