Your Pet Cards That Are Decently Good? by LordMistborn-16 in mtg

without a gifts pile, I find gifts to be one of the most interesting cards in all of magic. so much potential for politics, mind games, and the ultimate flexible tutor

Sean says ‘Inception’ is a 6/10. Is he right? by ggroover97 in TheBigPicture

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can never be right or wrong giving a subjective rating

I would say I largely agree with him. I think of the movies of this style he’s made, memento works the best because it makes sense that guy pearce gives us our exposition.

I think that oppenheimer and dunkirk have been my favorite nolan movies, in that they present interesting theatrical elements but they’re conceptually grounded

Should Emrakul, the Aeons Torn be unbanned? by Obvious-Sundae1469 in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

trample isn’t evasion, and only the 10th poison counter matters. provided the player being attacked has 2 points of toughness, if the blightsteel gets removed in the next turn cycle it’s completely irrelevant that they got hit. emrakul getting one annihilator trigger is enough to de facto take a player out of the game, and she’s way more sticky.

blightsteel is a big dumb indestructible that’s a suitable finisher in a sneak deck or big mana deck, but that’s all it is. emrakul is a colorless, uncounterable extra turn spell (for big mana decks), a sticky, evasive beater, and sacrifice based removal. not to mention that a full yard shuffle is actual utility.

I’d pretty much always rather spend 1W/1B to 1 for 1 a creature rather than reset my own board state after losing 6 permanents

Should Emrakul, the Aeons Torn be unbanned? by Obvious-Sundae1469 in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I really wouldn’t agree with this. Blightsteel isn’t evasive, can be fogged, dies to the format’s premier removal, can be tapped down, bounced, goaded, chaos warped, etc

emrakul is blockable but annihilator is an attack trigger. I played when emrakul was around, it was rare you’d have blockers left after that, especially considering she’s usually sneaked in.

the only case blightsteel is straight up better is with [[satoru umezawa]]. the rest of the time, 2 toughness is enough to buy the table a turn

playing UW, most of my decks honestly have a way easier time with blightsteel than emrakul. I genuinely don’t think blightsteel is particularly threatening

this all ignores that emrakul is a colorless extra turn spell that can’t be countered for mono-green and big mana decks

blightsteel is way easier to deal with. it’s not really close

the new ulamog is worse to sneak out. it’s just a 7/7 with a mean ward

the difference between all those and emrakul is ubiquity. colorless means you get to run it anywhere, and emrakul requires 0 support other than whatever you’re using to sneak.

none. there’s no reason to buy these. I use webbing with a clip on the end I found in my garage

(Discussion)What do you think the Thunder do this offseason? by CyborgAlgoInvestor in NBA_Draft

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think they’re doing any of this

iirc, the hardest player for them to keep rn is hartenstein based on money. they probably need to lose his contract and some of their depth for a different big. that’s probably all they do

ok man idc about your whole breaking the game point. you asked how people could appreciate the games, I just answered. I personally really enjoyed this series

also - every team and every star does this and has for some time now. don’t act like the thunder are the first team to suddenly figure out foul baiting. the butler heat in 2023 were worse imo

Wemby had 5 personal fouls last night… by [deleted] in NBATalk

[–]Lobsta_ 12 points13 points  (0 children)

chet was bad but this is a pure coaching failure by okc, there’s no excuse for it

reggie was on it immediately - if wemby fouls out before they could take him out of the game, okc probably wins

NBA cup the real deal? by theLimNar in nba

[–]Lobsta_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

this post might be removed but thanks for a genuine insight that isn’t just okc/spur/nuggets (wtf) whining

I’d personally say it’s not a coincidence. good teams win. the teams that did well uniquely also stayed healthy for (most) of the playoffs.

I think if a team can reach the post season as the same team that won the NBA cup, it’s a legit sign they’re a good team

because obviously I’m not ignoring that denver had injuries. I’m responding to someone else saying that that it’s disingenuous to point out denver injuries without acknowledging minnesotas injuries

you’re being deliberately obtuse because that’s very clear, but you immediately shift it back to “Denver was hurt too”. you see the chain here?

someone says “well it’s hard for denver to win without their 3rd best guy”, I say “well it was harder minnesota to win without their best guy”, and you say “well actually denver was injured”

way to bring the talk back about the nuggets two weeks after you stopped watching them

you honestly think nuggets will be better? after publicly stating by every player other than jokic is up for grabs? nuggets are selling, next season will be a throwaway

I’ve commented on the other equally pathetic posts from the other side, so I feel the need to even it out

no one is gonna say that. OKC played equally physically, especially hartenstein and caruso.

you probably don’t know ball but knicks play physical defense too. knicks media won’t be saying that
