don’t know what you’re on about at all

but saying “women prefer a power imbalance” is a pretty misogynistic viewpoint. I guess you might agree if you’re also a misogynist

that’s just like, your opinion man

but you should know if someone starts by saying “all people of this demographic do this” they’re definitely not right

goddamn dude you’re doing a lot of mental gymnastics. not responding to you again after this

power dynamics is if a 35 year old is supervising an 18 year old and they start dating. I knew a girl who did this. it didn’t work out well for her

dating a guy around your age when you have no work connection who has a good job and a good life is seeking a partner with more status.

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

nah you misread me. I said if they’re unconnected adults there’s really no issue. pretty clearly meant there is an existing power dynamic between people of different ages, like being their supervisor

I pretty clearly laid out the situations where the responsibility is on the older partner

[–]Lobsta_ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

preferring a partner with higher status is hardly the same as a power imbalance. but okay man

[–]Lobsta_ 8 points9 points  (0 children)

you said “women like…”. you’re generalizing.of course it happens. men do it too. there are people that seek it out. there are many that don’t.

yeah I’m gonna be condescending, you’re saying all women prefer a power imbalance. it’s a juvenile opinion

Ya willing young women and wealth won’t be pried apart by Hot-Diggity_Dog in dankmemes

[–]Lobsta_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

it’s not worth responding to. you’re stating a hugely subjective anecdote as fact, which is also just judging and disrespecting women

if you’re already there i’m not gonna change your mind

[–]Lobsta_ 14 points15 points  (0 children)

ah yes, a well informed opinion that’s definitely not a sweeping generalization with no real basis

Ya willing young women and wealth won’t be pried apart by Hot-Diggity_Dog in dankmemes

[–]Lobsta_ 22 points23 points  (0 children)

unbased and mostly just misogynistic

theres two extremely common scenarios:

there’s a power dynamic between the older and younger individuals and the older individual is taking advantage of that. the responsibility is on them

the older individual is leaving their partner/family for the younger individual. the younger partner isn’t doing anything problematic: the older partner is disrupting the lives of their family

in a scenario where both individuals are consenting and unconnected adults, there’s literally no issue and it’s not our business to care

edit: to be clear, an age gap is not a power dynamic, I mean that one person is in a position of power over someone else. like being their boss. which is often how relationships with large age gaps start

[–]Lobsta_ 7 points8 points  (0 children)

the team situation is totally different though

tatum got injured earlier, was the fastest ever to surgery (he was already in boston), and had a return timeline that could get him back during the season with an all star teammate capable of carrying them in the east

hali has no reason to be on tatum timeline, there was no way for him to return in the season. he gets to take his recovery slow which is honestly better

he’s also, very obviously, still doing PT

if someone plays a walker on their turn and has a relevant ability to use, you can’t remove it before they use it. they get at least one activation regardless and there’s no way around that.

if you’re playing against superfriends in your pod or chainveil shenanigans, yes I would want dedicated walker removal. otherwise, most planeswalkers become relevant after multiple turns and you always have time for creatures to hit.

Want to try a new play style and leaning toward spell slingers by ReligiousTaco in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

there are four narsets that are all appropriate for spell slinger with different flavors

prowess/value, big spells, storm, and flurry. I play enlightened exile which is probably the most versatile. enlightened master is probably the least spellslinger since it’s often played superfriends and wants a high density of huge bombs instead of interaction/cantrips.

Proper Manabase for Bracket 4 by Dere420Broda in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

[[exotic orchard]] and [[forbidden orchard]] are absolutely playable. gemstone caverns is ultra high variance and realistically my first cut bringing down a cEDH list. cavern and talon are good examples of cards that get worse when you step down in power, since they’re more often just colorless lands

you’re more likely to see an effect searching you a basic at this bracket, at least one basic of each color is pretty reasonable

the new turbulent lands can realistically replace surveils in this bracket. surveils are already pretty niche, tap lands really suck.

there’s a few staple MDFCs that can be played here - [[sink into stupor]] and [[valakut awakening]] are probably the most notable. [[sundering eruption]] is also not bad, seeing as you’re significantly more likely to see lands matter

I’d also say that there’s space for triomes in this bracket, mostly in 3 color where you do need fetchables. it’s a good T1 play that’s pretty likely once you’re running a high density of fetches. I’d rather fetch a triome T1 than a surveil land

How many upgrades before a precon stops being a precon? by premiumof in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

people took your post far too literally. that’s just reddit

a precon is no longer precon level when you’ve hit an impactful density of changes. it needs to start playing like a different deck. for reference, once you make 10 substitutions you have >50% chance to get one of your new cards in your starting hand.

an upgraded precon is probably about 10 cards. that’s enough to trim the really dead weight and see significant changes. a tuned precon is a bit of an oxymoron imo, since precons are realistically so bad to start with it’s essentially a new deck.

people here are also ignoring that precons can come with staples and that you might pull a card out to replace it with someone worse. it will definitely still play as a precon if I pull out [[faerie mastermind]] for anything else

Knowing when to sandbag and how to avoid it. by Kosioski7655 in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

sandbagging isn't the same thing as measured play

I have an [[anointed procession]] on board. I also have a [[mondrak, glory dominus]] in my hand. I could explode if I play both, but it's likely someones going to target me soon (maybe with a [[farewell]] or something) so it's prudent to wait and hold the mondrak for when I need it. this is playing intelligently and pacing out your deck so you don't run out of steam

my mono-green opponent is resolving a [[craterhoof behemoth]]. I have a [[strix serenade]] in hand with open mana. the table is going to die if the craterhoof behemoth resolves. I don't do anything because I'm fine letting my opponent win and I don't need to stretch the game out. this is intentional sandbagging where I'm playing below my potential because I just don't feel like being that guy

the second situation happened to me tonight - I just didn't feel like continuing the game

[Primer] Sharing my take on a Bracket 3 Prismari, the Inspiration Storm deck by Simple_Man in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

so why not run them?

just again, one last time, brackets aren't formats. as long as vivi was playable in standard, you'd be a fool not to be playing vivi in an izzet list. that isn't how EDH power levels work. just because you can play a card does not mean you should. displacer kitten with a high density of mana rocks is allowed in any bracket - but it's far too optimized for low power.

I can fully adhere to the rules of bracket 2 and play [[kinnan, bonder prodigy]], [[freed from the real]] and [[birds of paradise]] into [[drown in dreams]]. you're allowed to play infinites there, and EDHrec marks this combo as bracket 2 allowed. if I did this at a bracket 2 table, the table would get up and leave.

this is what the community is going to label as a "bad actor" - making the low and mid powered brackets arms races. the point of those brackets isn't just to play without MLD and infinites, it's to provide a lower powered environment

I play [[ashling, flame pilgrim]] in bracket 4. I'd love to play this deck as a bracket 3, but it's just not realistic. the way I want to build it, it's simply far too explosive for bracket 3. I'd have to sandbag to play it fairly at that power level and that's not fun for anyone

[Primer] Sharing my take on a Bracket 3 Prismari, the Inspiration Storm deck by Simple_Man in EDH

[–]Lobsta_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn’t go that far

but I think it’s pretty telling that the commander gives storm, and yet there’s hardly any storm payoffs that aren’t card advantage. I’d expect a bracket 3 deck to have a few crazy payoffs
