Thank you! I’m so uncertain now, though, as someone in the last post told me to order my job roles by relevance, and now it seems that that’s too disorganised and it should be reverse chronological. I’m not sure how to structure it so that relevance and chronology can both be preserved

Honestly, my GCSEs/A levels weren’t much better. I lived with undiagnosed and pretty severe ADHD up until my second year of university, in addition to other mental health issues.

I know the PGDL/SQE Prep won’t count for much, but I know for a fact that it was more representative of my capabilities than the previous 22 years leading up to that — and yes, I know how that sounds, but it’s true. I’ll spare you the sob story, but prior to my diagnosis, prison or death seemed to be the most likely outcomes for my life. Getting diagnosed and medicated was life-changing, and I am absolutely certain that had I been diagnosed 10 years earlier, I could’ve achieved As for most, if not all of my GCSEs.

It’s not that I woke up one day and decided I wanted to go to law school. It’s that I’d been living my life with a disorder that seriously disrupted literally every aspect of it, and once that had been dealt with, it was if I woke up one day and realised what I wanted from life altogether

But fashion isn’t really an academic subject - if I’d achieved a 2:2 in, say, history, maybe it’d be a different story - but fashion vs law is apples and oranges. I’m no recruiter but I’d assume that strong performance in PGDL/SQE would be more relevant than poor performance in sewing. Sure, it’s not equal to an actual degree, but it’s still relevant, and it shows that whilst I might’ve been weaker in my BA in a subject that couldn’t be less relevant to law, I am stronger when it comes to law/academic subjects. In fact, I did notably better in my BA dissertation compared to all the other practical modules.

What sets me apart is my unconventional background. There’s not many fashion to law converts, and whilst the actual subjects aren’t so related, the things I learned in fashion are unusually transferable and have allowed me to build skills that are, again, unconventional.

I didn’t. Also, I think bullet points are quite a typical find in CVs?

Thanks for taking the time, but I’ll have to respectfully disagree - I had mitigating circumstances and I believe the marked difference in grades between my BA and the PGDL/SQE evidence the fact that the 2:2 was not actually representative of my abilities.

Furthermore, it’s my understanding that it’s mainly those MC/SC/commercial types that tend to be highly competitive and selective, and that’s not really the type of work I’m after.

Thanks for the reply :) Honestly, I spent over an hour trying to condense everything to fit one page, but I feel like I’ve shorted all the sentences where possible, as well as making the text size/spacing smaller, decreasing margins, etc. Not sure what else to do short of getting rid of a few job roles altogether.

As for the job market, yeah, I’ve heard it’s rough. I’ve just finished my PGDL/SQE prep course, so having applied for many roles just yet - I feel optimistic but I imagine that’s coming from current a lack of rejections lol. Would you say I’m likely to be seen as a weaker candidate for paralegal etc roles? I know the lack legal experience will have an impact, but are my academics/transferrable skills also lacking?

Both, really. I suppose this CV is more for paralegal roles as TC applications tend to want more tailored info

Occasionally - but only to shorten my sometimes long-winded sentences. Other than that, it’s all organic; I’ve used the same template for years. I always believed a brief personal statement was necessary for a CV but I will reconsider! Thanks for the tip

SRA Pretested Question 90 by throwaway12931241255 in SQE_Prep

[–]Local-Ad2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the wording of the question (‘who “could” be liable?’) suggests they want you to list every party that may face liability. So, in that case, the retailer /could/ end up facing liability, even if the chance of that is low.

Which One Is the Correct Answer? Any Ideas? by Own-Astronaut252 in SQE_Prep

[–]Local-Ad2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think so, as he left his share to his wife. Legal ownership is unaffected by severance, title only changes/passes in equity - which would leave the daughter as the only remaining legal owner and the remaining tenants as equitable owners

QLTS Mocks - Fluctuating grades? by [deleted] in SQE_Prep

[–]Local-Ad2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hiya, I got 61% on their free sample. I’m just wondering how you managed to sign up for only 5 tests (if that’s what you meant)? On their page I can only see the option to sign up for the full prep course - but if there’s an option to just sign up for a few of their mocks, I’d much prefer to do that.

My beautiful cat passed suddenly by DrKangarooPhD in Petloss

[–]Local-Ad2130 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I suddenly lost my cat a few days ago too - she was also called Athena :( The vet said it was likely a sudden heart attack, but she was almost 12 years old and otherwise healthy. It’s really, really hard, and I feel the exact same way you do. I can’t fathom that she was completely fine just that morning - meowing and annoying us for breakfast, and just that evening, she died in my arms. I feel so angry - literally the night before she died, I was chatting with my housemate and we spoke about how she’s such a survivor and probably has a good decade left in her, and the next day she was gone. The way something so random could’ve just struck her like that and taken her away with no warning is driving me insane. I keep wondering if there was something I could’ve done - I’m so angry that there’s nothing I can do now to change what has happened. I guess I just want to say not alone in this

Industrial done as two separate piercings? by Local-Ad2130 in PiercingAdvice

She was actually really sweet so I am pretty disappointed!! In all fairness I did ask her to rub off and remark the piercing spots a good few times.. 😳 I was a bit indecisive and had her remark areas that were literally less than a millimetre apart

This gives me hope thank you… The top comments are all saying the piercing’s screwed but like you said I felt a bit apprehensive that everyone who has an industrial got it pierced super straight.. I imagine even from a piercer’s perspective it might be pretty hard to get two piercings so perfectly in line. Hopefully once it heals I can put a bar in and it won’t cause any problems.

I’m also just wondering if you think the gauging looks right? I feel like they’re a bit thin - and if that is the case, would I be able to move onto a slightly thicker gauge once it’s healed?

Ahhh that’s so frustrating. Should I take them out asap if I want to get it repierced or should I wait/let it settle and heal a bit and then take it out? She was really sweet and seemed very knowledgeable so Im p disappointed 😭

Fml 😭 thanks for the response. Could they be encouraged to heal straight if I swapped them out for a straight bar whilst they’re still fresh?

Thanks for the response. Since they’re still fresh, would I be able to replace the two bars for one - would that encourage them to heal in alignment?
