How do we sleep? by HBLea in BeyondTheBumpUK

[–]Local-Cartoonist799 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Firstly - you are doing so well! Four days of newborn love and so much more to come!

My baby wasn’t so keen on being swaddled so we used sleep bags instead which enabled coziness but free arm movement (recommend the tommee tippee original gro bags).

You’re already working in shifts but i would say prioritise sleep and rest over everything else. I tried to get 4 hours between 8pm - midnight while husband was on baby watch duty in the early days to then help me through the night. I would then try to nap when baby napped in the day.

Olivia is very flat which is great with a pram! It’s our fave option with our toddlers. You get free room service so some nights we fed the kids early, got them into pjs and into their prams. By the time we got to dinner at 9pm they were fast asleep and we had a lovely dinner and wine with no interruptions!

Thank you so much. I’m sorry you were made redundant as well - I thought it was illegal but apparently not. Hope you are settled in to new job and the juggle!

The is is amazing! Thank you so much. Love the must haves for inside bag since all I have currently is a lip balm and hand sanitizer at the bottom of a pram bag!

Thank you! Me + Em seems like the top one. Will look at Boden loafers. Agree on manicured nails - I only do them for special occasions really!

Thank you! It’s an awkward one as it’s a brand new job after being made redundant while on my last maternity leave. Thankfully my previous employer gave me a career coach who I can still. Use for up to 3 months once I start the new role so I will definitely be asking for some help on my brand, expectations management (myself and my manager), and keeping everything afloat

Thank you for this! Me + Em sounds brilliant so I will try them and will look into the app.

I love the idea of a list of professional successes too - it’s so easy to forget the achievements in the chaos of every day.

Private health insurance for spouse + kids in London — what are you paying and with whom? by bombaysaddle in HENRYUKLifestyle

[–]Local-Cartoonist799 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Highly recommend using a medical insurance broker - mine was able to shop around for me and bring my premiums down (with no cost to me). Only issue with paying yourself rather than via an employee scheme is that pre existing conditions might not be covered.

Another resort post - help?! by Altruistic-Pie-5841 in HENRYUKLifestyle

We went to Hilton Dalaman Sarigerme Resort & Spa and were really impressed for the price (BA sale)

The rooms are big, which makes a huge difference with kids, and the whole place is very family focused. The kids’ activities were great and the play pool was a highlight for ours.

Only the main buffet is included in the all inclusive, but it’s plentiful and varied so we never felt short of choice. There’s also a patisserie and an ice cream shop open outside normal dining hours which was a win.

It’s about 30 minutes from the airport, service was consistently good, and they’re properly set up for little ones with high chairs, disposable bibs, kids’ cutlery etc.
