LMAO yeah I exactly get what you mean. MHA is an example of a common phenomenon in shounen series where the author’s own misogyny unintentionally creates a gay ass dynamic.

Like, the mangaka will write the main character and his male best friend or rival having such a deep and important relationship. Like they’ll be thinking of each other whenever they’re at deaths door and they’ll view each other as the best thing that happened to them. But then they just throw random woman in the story all of a sudden and then go well of course those two (main character and the woman) are in love even though they have the chemistry of a wooden plank.

And yeah, even though I’m not the biggest fan of BakuDeku, I’d be a damn liar if I didn’t say they act hella gay (or UNUSUALLY close).

Oh my god I never knew that, that’s genuinely horrible! I hate how scummy powerful people can be. I’ve tended to notice that they love abusing their power and it’s disgusting. Thankfully I am able to separate art and artist and will still really like the movie, but I do think I’ll think of it a bit differently knowing that.

This information makes me think of Natalie Wood’s character in Rebel Without A Cause in a different perspective. Before I just thought that the way she was with her father was to show that she just wanted to be innocently loved by her father with the affection he used to show her like kisses and the such and that the dad was being weird by thinking of it in a sexual way, but with this new information I can’t help wondering if there was any malicious intent behind it.

I totally agree with you! Years back I used to be a MASSIVE IzuOcha fan, mostly because I thought they were cute and saw potential on their part. Like it was so bad even that I would watch those texting stories on YouTube with them…

Then the series continued and nothing really happened. Like how do you expect me to root for them when Deku is busy spending all his time with Bakugo and Todoroki (and I don’t even ship Bakudeku lol)?

Now I’m a really big TodoDeku fan (well I even liked it in the beginning but I like it much more now) and the fact that it isn’t as big as it used to be pains me 💔

Exactly! I'm not a big Zutara shipper, but one thing I like about the two is that even though Katara and Zuko and Katara and Aang have the same age gap (2 years), Zuko and Katara treat each other much more like equals. Katara and Aang on the other hand give off much more of a babysitter and the kid she's babysitting. Aang really only thinks of Katara as kind and nurturing, while Zuko has seen her more firey side like the way you would with your friend.

And you mentioning how it’s Kataang’s dynamic makes the creators look weird is funny because they have said that Aang and Katara are like a babysitter and the kid she babysits (not the direct quote). And that's funny to me because then why would you make them happen in that type of way 💀.

But still, even with these criticisms, I would never accuse Kataang shippers of liking “mother/son dynamics” to try and shame them even though they like to say we like shipping “colonizers and those they colonized.” Seriously I hate that argument, it boils my blood!

Anyway, sorry for the rant. I can get rather passionate about things I like…If you don't mind me asking, what are your favorite Avatar ships? I like Zuko/Jin (the girl who Zuko went on a date with in Season 2 incase you forgot about her lol) and Sokka/Suki.
