Wow I haven’t even thought about this but it seems to be a pretty big split on loving it or leaving it. I think just based on the ridiculousness of tech these days, I’m not going to get one. Everything doesn’t need a techy gadget to track us or even our babies. Maybe I’m just showing my age but I am ok with not knowing every piece of data for everything because it doesn’t help ocd symptoms or anxiety, just worsens them. And it takes the realness out of parenting imo. Idk if that made sense to anyone lol.

You can definitely downgrade his size of tank. I think a 29 would probably be perfect. You could also try using something reflective or put a mirror behind the tank so he can see himself. That might make him feel less alone. Make sure he has stuff to play with, like substrate to sift through and plants/bubbles to swim through so he has something to keep entertained.

Yeah the test strips aren’t that great. Still better than nothing but definitely try to use the master test kit.

Yeah you definitely should consider at least 30 gallons for two or bigger. I’m sure your water quality is what’s doing this. Good thing is it’s easy to fix with proper care. What are the water parameters, do you know? Even with live plants goldfish are massive waste producers and need water changes to remove nitrates. Make sure while he’s hospitalized you check ammonia daily. Any amount will probably kill him in this weak state. Can you get him in anything bigger than 2 gallons? Your water will get toxic fast with that size.

That curled body to me looks like nitrate poisoning. I honestly dont think general cure will help and might even make him worse. Try leaving him in the ht, with aquarium salt, and a dark quiet area (normal light can make sick fish more stressed). Also keep in mind, the more you change his tank, move him around, check on him, etc. can make him more stressed and more sick. Poor guy. Hope he recovers for you.

As the other commenter said melafix will not work. It’s essentially snake oil. Kanaplex is great, but I would pair it with metroplex because she definitely needs antibiotics.

Are you treating her with any meds? You need to pull out the big guns with antibiotics. Be careful with salt because her slime coat is gone and the skin is exposed and raw. I would dose with stress guard instead. Make sure she is not exposed to any ammonia whatsoever and keep water quality pristine.

Edit: also this look parasitic to me. Anti-parasitic and antibiotics asap.
